After a weekend there I do not feel that their website accurately portrays the center. The crop room is roomy but kitchen and bathroom are lacking. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves but we will not return

Well the greatest thing i can say about the retreat was the crop room was nice and roomy. When we arrived we had a 10 min tour and discovered there was only one shower inside the big facility that would supposedly service a sold out weekend. You could go outside to the other one if needed at the small building next door? It smelled, maybe backed up sewer or water damage problems, not sure. One refrigerator cooled the
other did not, get rid of it and buy another? One that did work did not looked like it had been cleaned. Sizzix machine old and broken, Cricuits were old as well as the cartridges.no one checked on us for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday we were there. I realize the weekend was un-supervised but if i owned the business i would have at least checked on my guests, once a day? I think that maybe they were afraid they would get an complaint. As the story goes One and done, NO REPEAT HERE. IT IS A SHAME CAUSE I THINK AT ITS PRIME IT WAS BETTER, REALLY NEEDS SOME LOVE. So now I see why she gives so many retreats away for free? Also how do you get away with no smoke alarms, especially where people are sleeping? Just saying? Well I could go on and on but I won't, better run from this one unless you are not picky where you stay.

I placed my name in a drawing for a free retreat while I was at Scrapbook Expo in March 2017. When I was notified by email that I had won a free retreat weekend I then got online to check out their retreat. It looked great, except for a statement that said the a/c would be kept on 76-78. I then called and spoke with the owner whom told me that that was not on the website. I then told her I was reading it while we speak and she said not to worry about it.
So I didn't. I called again today to see what time she would meet us since she had told me 2: 00. She then told me today that she had a full house and that wasn't possible. So then I ask her if she had a room for 3 and she said she only had one with 2 beds and a futon and said that it had its own thermostat. I told her we would take that room then. She also told me she would put a sign up in the crop room to keep the thermostat at 74.
Now I get an email that all in my group would get refunds because it was "not fitting for me"!
I can't believe a business owner runs a business this way. She must be worried that I might turn the thermostat down or that she doesn't want to give me a free weekend that she is refunding everyone's money and said that we could not come. Now she has started texting me that I have "issues" and that I am full of "hate"! Omg. I can't believe that there are really people out there like her! I am just in awe that a person, much less a business owner, would say those things! I'm in shock!
And I've never even met her!

We rented the Lone Star Center for our 25th Finis & Susan Unger Family Reunion and it was just wonderful. We had plenty of space and plenty of tables for games, food, visiting and picture sorting. It was so convenient to have beds right there so that some family members could go to bed while others stayed up late to cook or visit and not have to juggle transportation to and from motels, and it was convenient to be able to run in to Georgetown to the store.

Karman was friendly and easy to deal with, and the hall was comfortably cool even with 30 or 40 people in it and kids running in and out and the outside temperature in the high 90’s.

We were 100% happy with our choice for the event!

We were here for a scrapbooking retreat and ended up leaving one night early. Karmen, the hostess is "nice" (she helped us unload our belongings), but very particular about where to sit to eat, where to put food, which tables to use and not use, etc. She was also dictatorial with her other guests who arrived before we did, which made them feel quite unwelcome. The most surprising thing that happened was when Karmen texted me in the morning to ask me to meet with a person who was looking to rent the facility and to give her a tour. I'm at a RETREAT and the hostess is trying to put me to work? It was inappropriate and unprofessional to ask this of me in my opinion.

About the facility itself:

-Very clean and organized.

-Three Cricket machines are provided for use with lots of cartridges to choose from

-The temperature in some parts of the building was not very well regulated (uncomfortably warm in some areas)

-The twin mattresses are literally metal springs with a thin layer of fabric on top-I didn't sleep well at all.

-The kitchen is very, very small, but lots of utensils, seasonings, and cooking ware are provided.

-The crafting space is well lit, with large tables provided, but the swivel chairs were old and uncomfortable. And I was not able to adjust the height up or down.

Overall impression: Although it wasn't a horrible experience, we didn't feel comfortable there and will not be returning.

I won a free weekend Scrapbook crop for myself at CKC in Arlington in June 2016, I gathered my friends, made the arrangements and visited Lone Star Retreat on Dec 2-4. We had a great time and met a few other scrappers while we were there. In fact, we have asked them to join us on our next retreat in July.

Karmen was very helpful and a delight to work with. We loved having two six foot tables for each of us to work on. It was a scrappers dream to have that much space. Overall it was a great experience.
