This place has some of the prettiest river around most of it is not very deep as it runs across the slabs of rocks you can let your kids swim without worrying alot it's always a gorgeous place to go they have cabins that aren't expensive to rent and it just a couple of miles from town

We loved it when it was Missy in the office and Roger delivered our firewood. Have been coming for years. Now Noel is running the show and doesn't know how to NOT treat people like thieves. Paid for friends to come visit and they gave our name and cabin when they checked in. He couldn't figure it out with our name, cabin, and their last name. All of which he had. He's going to run this place into the ground.

The old cabin was too hot with 2 air conditioner. The beds are twin size (4) and are on the floor. Not comfortable and a cot would have been more comfortable. (The cabin should be bulldozed) I would not stay there again if they paid me. We paid for 2 nights at $50 each night and stayed 1 night and left early the next day. The fishing is terrible. Not 1 fish caught and the water there is very shallow and no way to put in a small boat. It’s a good place to wade and kayak.
Definitely not worth the money. This was our third trip, the 1st 2 times day fishing and wanted to put out a trot line but banks of the deeper water were to steep and could risk putting in our small boat. Would rate it 0 stars if we could.

Not worth the 8 dollars to go fishing and probably not worth the 20 bucks to find arrowheads or gold what they should do is let the people dig for free then if they find anything then they should make you give them a percentage of the gold or charge them "20 dollars"

At the time I'm posting this (25Apr19) I'm still here. The owner isn't bad (I met him in passing only) the office staff are really helpful. Of course there aren't any lights, its a private ranch, and the campsites available go from primitive to fairly decent. This is a campground, not a GLAMPground. You can choose to have a campsite with or without electricity, or a pod like cabin with beds only. There are porta-potties dotted about the available properties, and they are TYPICALLY free of dangerous pests (this is the outdoors.). They also keep them stocked with toilet paper, so one doesn't need to use leaves. You can dig for arrow heads, pan for gold (mostly flour gold), or search for topaz (Texas State Gemstone). I got my Jeep stuck in the mud twice, and they helped me out both times. They didn't criticise me for getting it stuck (it just rained). They even give you advice on where to pan for gold, or search for arrow heads. I'm spending my birthday weekend here, and I love it. No ballpark lights to destroy the ability to see the stars at night. I love this place. I'm going to come out here as often as I can. I hope others find this as amazing as I did, so I'm going to put in some helpers hints: 1. If your campsite is the "the Hideout" You need a 4X4.2. If you're going to dig for arrow heads, bring a 4X4 if it just rained, or better yet, walk. You never know what you'll find on the ground as you walk. 3. Bring mosquito netting. It'll keep all the flying pests at bay. You dont NEED a 4X4, but when driving around, use common sense. Your family grocery getter or your souped up, hot rod mustang isn't going to take this kind of rough treatment. But if you have a suburban assault vehicle, you'll do just fine. Better yet if you have a Jeep, or old 4X4 Bronco. You're in for fun regardless of how you get here. Pitch a tent, lay down on a camp pad, and enjoy the scenery if nothing else. It's absolutely beautiful here.

Bad roads, The owner changes his mind every hour, about the rules. I seen the owner telling off a hunter because his RV was unnecessary big. Plus he won't be back with that RV on his land. No lights around camp areas. Be careful here!

Greeted by a hostile lady when driving down the county road, she immediately caught an attitude about me being there looking at the property. There are no clearly marked signs delineating private property yet she was hostile about it and very argumentative. Definately won't be visiting that business or referring any of my clients to visit.

Staff are always friendly. Great quiet camping experience for the entire family or just a couples get away.

My second home. Best place to go relax with family or have a party with friends. The staff is great and sites always clean.

I've been here with my family several times over the past five years. It's a favorite spot for get togethers of any kind. The staff is friendly and always very helpful. They run a tight ship as far as keeping parties reasonable, but also don't mess with campers unless necessary. I've brought several of my high school friends a number of times and the staff understandably checked up on us but if you come back year after year, you build a report.

Overall, one of the best private campsites I've been too. I heartily recommend you call ahead and reserve the Rock Cabin, its the best on the property.
