Lupe Tortilla Mexican Restaurant, Houston TX

For the prices this place charges the service is absolutely horrendous. There are tons of other Tex-Mex places in town that are 75% to 50% cheaper than this place and the service is magnitudes better. I walked in to have lunch with my son and even though the place was less than 1/2 full we were told there would be a "5 minute wait". Ok fine. After about 5 minutes the hostess told us our table was ready and walked us to our table. When we sat down there was a strong constant blast of cold air hitting us right at our table so we walked back to the hostess and told her we needed to be re-seated because it was way too cold. She responded with a condescending tone like we were bothering her or something and said "ok it will be a few minutes". Right after that I watched her stand there putting bottle caps on some hot sauce bottles and it was not until she finished that she told us our table was ready. So she literally sat there and made us wait 3-4 minutes just so she could screw bottle caps onto bottles.

The rest of the visit was mediocre at best. Our server forgot the salt for the chips that I asked for. And she was not very friendly either. The entire staff seemed pretty amateurish and not very enthusiastic about creating a fun, enjoyable experience.

The only thing going for this place is the food is decent (I got the beef fajitas) but for the price, there are plenty of other places which are much cheaper and the same quality. So definitely not worth it unless you just like to over-spend for lower quality.

I eat lunch on the patio once a week here. There isn’t a wait during lunch. The food is tasty and consistent. The staff is very polite and accommodating.

The waitress was really nice to us.her name is miriam. She brought the chef with some fajitas samples for us. The food was really good!

Today's experience: There were some free tables and I was trying to get the most social distance possible. The hostess didn't allow us to sit in those tables because, as she said, " we don't do social distance", but I was able to choose between 2 tables. While we are waiting for our food, we spotted (5 inches away from me) something moving on the wall. A cockroach!

Last time I was in this location, around 10 years ago, the same situation happened, and actually the restaurant came in the news few days ago. My guess, they had multiple complaints. It's sad to see the same situation after all these years. I have never had that problem in the Lupe Tortilla at Shepherd's.

Lupe Tortilla. The happiest place in Houston by far. Great atmosphere, potent margaritas, arguably the best meat quality of all tex mex places in Houston. The fajitas are naughty (in a good way), and the enchiladas are all generously portioned. Just a great experience. Will be back-every week.

We had great service and the food was great. As a vegetarian I wish they didn’t put bacon in their pinto beans and chicken stock in their rice. But the black bean option was amazing.

Obviously the steak fajitas are the reason to go here. Best I've ever had. Queso is pretty great. Also, don't sleep on the grilled chicken breast.

I ordered the tacos al Carbone platter and told them not to bring me the rice and beans when I got the check they charged me $10 per taco and there were two tacos and there were two pieces of meat and flour tortilla for each taco it was outrageous I'll never go back there again

One of the best Tex-Mex spots in the city which is really saying something. Excellent queso and tortillas and can't go wrong with their fajitas or classic Mexican dishes. Often there is a wait for dinner on weekends so keep that in mind but the food is so good it will be well worth it.

The best beef fajitas ever! If you've been, you know. If you haven't, you need to go.

Got some beans and let me tell you! We have been going to lupes since the very first one opened.main reason we go, WAY 2 MANY PEPPERS SO SPICY IT EAS A WASTE! DISAPPOINTED IS AN UNDERSTATMENT AS MY 91 YEAR OLD GRANFATHER WAS LAST SUPPERING THIS!

Enjoyable place with great staff and good food. The beef fajitas are their specialty and were very delicious!

Had a good time with family here, the drinks were nice and stiff. Had the beef enchiladas.
