MAA Heights reviews
7 Have only been here for 5 months and will not be renewing our lease when it comes up.
While the places are nice and location is great, the staggering issues with constant crime around here is really disheartening especially when all we are told is "you are responsible for your belongings" which while to some degree is true, is a slap to the face considering this management team doesn't seem to take necessary precautions to protect the residents and their guests.
Car break ins happening constantly yet our guests have to be forced to park in these spots or on the street when the rooftop garage sits nearly empty every single day. Allow a guest pass to be purchased or offer one per unit. SOMETHING that can help keep theft from occurring in the very place you work. Lack of trying to do something to prevent issues like this for people who may be visiting the people who live here. Why would my friends want to leave their car in the visitor section? Even if the belongings are out of the car those criminals don't care. They will bust through and check anyways.
Apartment mailbox being left open for longer than 24 hours. While this is not directly at the fault of the complex, it is pretty appalling to receive an email after the fact this happened only to be told we have to contact the postal inspector when the complex should already have a set of master keys which they could and should have locked them up themselves upon arriving to the mess of mail all over the ground. I even asked them to check with the USPS people standing outside but clearly that wasn't done. Again just shows that they do not care, likely because they do not live there and it doesn't involve their own personal belongings or information.
The lack of security into the premise is also horrible. This has lead to stolen packages and numerous homeless people wandering into the hallways. Even video of a girl who likely doesn't live here coming in a 4 AM after she stole a package off our front door the day before.
I hate complaining because again I believe MAA offers good prices in an area that is pretty upscale with other luxury apartments but you get what you pay for I guess.
Also to be fair, my girlfriend and I both lived in 2 different MAA McKinney buildings prior to moving here (literally 2-3 blocks down the road) and never had issues like this. Just saying it is not a company or location problem.
- Antiquated Resident Portal Site Using an Old Payment System, can get a little frustrating with the delays, not very mobile friendly.
- Excellent Maintenance Staff
- Good Amenities with rooftop deck and gated parking/ entrance access
- Communication and follow through with management is good.
- Courtyard areas could use more attention to detail to create better usage and accommodations. Outdoor furniture requires upkeep to keep nature from settling.

Management pays attention to requests- raised ️
The best maintenance team! Always so kind and very quick response time. Couldn't ask for a better experience!
"Trash" according to one neighbor who has since departed. Resident Turnover is high for any number of reasons. Filthy stairwells and a dog run with feces littered all about. A laundry room with defective machines that eat your dollars. Or you could bring your own laundry machines and then sell them at a steep discount as others have done when they moved out a year later. The 200 unit, four-story complex that I live in (on State Street) - has only one elevator that is constantly breaking down. Technically, there's a second elevator that may work for a handful of apartments located in the rear of this meandering complex. But on most days you can expect to haul your groceries and furniture up the dirty stairwells. There are at least 7 official addresses and over 25 entrances to this confusing complex, meaning delivery services are confused as to where to leave packages. The multiple addresses and entrances are secure most of the time, but you should expect some of your packages to be stolen. Management stopped accepting packages on behalf of its residents. Management instead suggests that you route your packages to the local UPS or Whole Foods (Amazon). There is a neglected gym with broken mirrors and torn upholstery. Residents no longer have access to the community computers and printer. Other conveniences have also been dropped while rents have increased over 40% in the last two years. Caveat emptor!
It has it good and its bad points. Nice area. Prompt on work orders. Gym and pool are sub par. Entrance gates dont2 always close Pool is always has leaves and dirt. Algae is on pool walls all summer. Gym has broken and torn equipment. None of this would be a big deal except after emails, calls, and personally talking to management nothing actually gets done.
Raised rent over $200 a month right after covid; 15%. Then suddenly are building a new leasing office. Pretty shady practice if you ask me.
