MAAK - Mt. Pleasant reviews
12I am paleo vegetarian so I only get the Da Veggie and fried wonton chips. Not sure why they offer you no sauce without you having to pay $1. You would think the charge is for extra. It’s a bit pricey for what you actually get. I have tried the fried rice and spring rolls and wasn’t impressed. Fried rice has no flavor and very little to no veggies in it. Looks more like just brown rice. The spring rolls are the frozen kind and become mushy once fried. Not tasty at all. For this being the country it will have to do.
Great place to eat however all tips are not given to the employee who is working. They are instead kept within the the company. So please if you go don’t tip, you’re only paying extra for your food.
The worst service of any restaurant in the area. If you don’t like being in the service industry, quit and find a job working remotely.
Sushi Guy was an unexpected treat to find in Mt. Pleasant, TX. From the outside, it seems like little more than a hole in the wall. We were surprised to see that the menu was smaller than most of the sushi places we have been, but when we ordered we saw why. Every single roll we got was absolutely delicious. The fish tasted fresh and clean and they had signature rolls that we had not encountered at other places. The lady who took our order was so sweet and answered all of our questions about the menu. We ended up ordering dumplings and wontons for appetizers, these were hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. We also ordered two of their combo boxes, a temptation roll, and a round eye roll (our favorite of them all) which were all full of natural flavors and were very filling. We very much enjoyed our experience at Sushi Guy.
First time in, talked about sushi at work and boss told me about it, had to try. It lived up to his hype, excellent food, had the Texan, Gunslinger and Tejano. Can't wait to get back and try some more!
I placed an order for a volcano roll and it was poorly served. It tasted horrible. The crab meat on top, and the sriracha sauce were very bulky and chunky. It completely grossed me out. Very disappointing. I also ordered extra sauce with my order which clearly stated on my receipt and then I was told it wasn’t on the receipt.
Fast and friendly service. The sushi is really good but the rolls are cut into eight huge pieces. Your utensil choices are a plastic fork or chopsticks-neither of which will yield smaller pieces you can actually fit in your mouth. Next time I'm bringing my own plastic knife
Frozen food and bland sauces. There's nothing special about the food at all. It seriously tasted like a Lean Cuisine frozen noodle bowl. Had to drown my bowl in Sriracha and soy sauce to eat it. The person working the front counter shouldn't be in customer service. He wouldn't speak to us and when asked if he recommended any sauces he just shrugged and said IDK. $10.99 for a bowl isnt terrible, but over $3 for a tiny plastic cup of drink was steep. Don't waste your money.
Meat and vegetables were still frozen on the inside. Rolls were sloppy and falling apart. It was a 40 minute wait for cold dumplings and frozen sushi. 1/10 do not recommend.
The menu is diverse and interesting. We had two sushi rolls (Temptation and Spicy Ahi) and a Korean BBQ sandwich with fries. The food was delicious! I can’t wait to go back and try something else.
I have ate bad food but not to this level. My fryed rice tasted like came straight from microwave.the Sushi had the most hard rice I ever seem.you probably can get better sushi at walmart. No joking. Horrible food. Sasemi for instance not fresh and super thin ans small. Do a favor to yourself never come here. There is another place in mT Pleasant way better. NEVER AGAIN! NEVER! EVER EVER AGAIN! DONT DO IT!
My husband and I decided to try Maak for the first time today since we were driving through Mt. Pleasant and craving sushi. Unfortunately, the sushi was very underwhelming. The rice isn’t seasoned (so can it even be called sushi?), which made every roll we tried—including the nigiri—seem plain. The appetizers, staff, service, & overall atmosphere were nice though. Hopefully they start seasoning their rice to elevate their sushi game.
