Mad Dogs British Pub Riverwalk reviews
16Me and my military friends came here a month ago and were greeted in front by a massive security guard. A mountain of a man really with nice curly hair can't remember the name, but may have been Don or Adonis. He, the atmosphere, and food were all great. Didn't see him tonight but this is our 3rd time coming back, hope to see him next time. GO BUCKS!
Try the Scottish eggs and the Fish and Chips. Famous for these! Must stop if you're going to the Riverwalk.
They're food was good and the scotch eggs were on point! The only negative thing, which can't be helped by the pub, was out server was trying to upsale horribly. I mean, he tried so so so hard to get us to buy more than what we told him we wanted. He wouldn't stop to the point I wanted to leave. One bad apple so I'm hoping the rest aren't like this
Slow service, indoor music was dance club levels; conversations were impossible. $15 wedge salad (with bacon!). Tourist trap. Go to South Town. Much better scene.
First time here and the service is great and the music is fun! Ordered the beer sampler that my husband loved and I got a margarita. The longhorn steak and ale pie is delicious!
Last night was my husband and I's second time ever on the river walk. We were only in town for one night, and walked around looking for a fun bar after dinner. Somewhere that stays opened until 2am. We are SO GLAD we found Mad Dogs! To be honest, we picked it because of the logo - as we have an English bulldog at home. They do karaoke every Monday night with these extremely fun and talented ladies named Kimbo and Ligaya, and to say we had a blast is an understatement. These ladies put on the funnest karaoke show we've ever watched/experienced, and my husband and I both sang a couple songs! It wasn't just your average karaoke; It was like a whole fun and hilarious show. Everyone who stayed late into the night with us ended up all making friends because of Kimbo and Ligaya, we danced and sang the night away. Their margs were $4 which was cool too! Nice staff and waitresses. Bar environment was neat and nice, just what we were looking for. Seriously recommend Monday night karaoke with these ladies at Mad Dogs, you won't regret it! (Kimbo recorded me singing because I made my husband promise not to, but now I'm glad she did for the memories lol).
This place is okay, with a very limited beer menu and bar food. But, the kitchen closes early, so no late night food. The bartender on the evening i went wasn't friendly, welcoming or accommodating at all. She was fast and efficient, but seemed disinterested and aloof. I was going to try lunch the next day, but decided to try somewhere else.
Ate there a while ago. Got the pot pie or whatever it’s called there, breading was tasteless and all flakes. Meat and filling had no flavor, as if not even seasoned. Genuinely the worst food I’ve ever eaten at a nice restaurant.
Fast service at the bar. Do not our Guinness the right way. We told them 2 checks from the beginning, at cash out, needed a manager, then told us our account would be over charged for a few days, then self correct. Nice enough people, not confidence inspiring.
We chose to dine at Mad Dogs for the night but were really disappointed by their service. We were asked to sit at a round table for 2 which was almost an extension of another family’s table; and got seated by the door. It was Monday night and thus not busy. The service was very very slow and we had to wait and ask for every little service. Right from water to silverware. The waitress was walking past us up and down but didn’t care to turn towards thus couldn’t get her attention. She forgot to bring the dipping sauce that came with the dish and had no regrets when we asked for it.
So disappointed with the service and food was mediocre.
The mashed potatoes on the cottage/shepherd's pie tasted like the ones out of a can in my school's cafeteria. The peas were overdone. The margarita flight sounded like a good idea, but the "slushie" ice over the syrup was not good nor authentic. The floor was filthy.
Every time we make our way to the Riverwalk we leave having made a few new friends. Thank you Mad Dogs for having an awesome staff, a talented piano player and creating a place with a super fun vibe.
Until next time.
It was my first going to Mad Dogs and it was amazing! The food, service, music I would go back again?
Food was OK. A little bit overpriced but expected on the Riverwalk. Service was good and staff was friendly.
Was there to celebrate my birthday. Had a great time. Atmosphere was awesome. Will definitely go back when in San Antonio!
Fish and chips was marginal. Fish was undercooked and not crispy. Service was extremely slow. It took 25minutes before we could flag down our waitress to even order.
