Magoffin Home State Historic Site reviews
12Our docent Gloria, was absolutely fantastic and full of knowledge. She made our tour of the Magoffin Home very entertaining and informative. The home itself is very well kept. I wish the grounds were better tended to though. I highly recommend the tour for anyone who wishes to experience a trip back in time.
Make sure you are aware of the tour schedule. The knowledge and expertise of the guides made the tour amazing.
Enjoyed visiting this spot last month. It’s got a wonderful history and the staff did a good job retelling it. Hope to visit again in the future.
This place was very interesting. Our tour guide, Michelle, was so knowledgeable about the history of the home and family. We would recommend taking this tour if you are interested in El Paso's history or architecture. They had a great selection in the gift shop.
Unique experience for any age to explore the home and grounds of this historical site! You can see how the real family lived decades ago. They offer many fun activities for adults/children such as art, games, historic cooking, and yoga for free or a small fee.
Tip for Bank of America customers: full weekends of each month there is complimentary entry if you show a Bank of America card thanks to the BOA “Museums on Us” program.
This was a very educational visit! It is free for military and for children under 5. They have their material in both English and Spanish so everyone can visit and read the material. The tour was in English but I’m sure they can also tour in spanish. The tour guide let us know that the gardens are treated as public land so anyone can have a picnic there or just enjoy it for free without entering the home. There is a minor wait time while you watch a video prior to the tour.
Excellent little gem near downtown. Plenty of history and a knowledgeable staff. Strongly recommend.
A beautiful site and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I only went for a short family yoga session but I would definitely return to attend other events or even as a volunteer.
It was a beautiful experience for me and my family to visit this historic site and the tour guide was excellent.
What an enjoyable experience! We visited the Magoffin Home and thoroughly enjoyed the tour and all the history of this landmark. Tour took about 1 hour.
We enjoyed visiting the Magoffin home immensely! The tour guides were so knowledgeable and gracious! This beautifully preserved home is a window into a fascinating period of this colorful and unique city.
We walked in and were created by a friendly person from whom we bought our tickets. She explained we would first watch a short video about the family history and the beginning of El Paso.
Then, the guide walked us to the Magoffin Home and narrated to us the information on the building construction, pointed out design features, went over the interior design, the dates, and family history. We then went to the exterior courtyard, where he went over the original property design and many more interesting historical facts of the family and development of El Paso.
Great tour, the building is very cool. Way ahead of its time.
