Mai's Restaurant reviews
19The menu have gotten way smaller so have the egg rolls and the other food I ordered was 80% vegetables sauce with water down I was extremely disappointed but I still tipped well as usual
The food is great! However the older female server is Rude as F×÷K. If she doesn't want to wait and be of service she should not be working here. Nasty Rude and slamming plates on the table is very unbecoming.
Mai’s is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Houston. Best soft spring rolls and Pho. Dishes are consistently delicious abs meet expectations every time. Consider giving them a try!
Usually great, but last time they didn't have anything we wanted to order on the menu and when we finally did find something they had in stock, they screwed up a 2 dollar upcharge for fried rice instead of steamed rice and instead brought us 4 huge bowls of fried rice at 10 dollars each.
The atmosphere of this place was very good. The music was nice and the tables were what you would expect. It was great!
I ordered the classic Pho #16 and was surprised to not get the usual sides with it. Apparently you need to ask for it although it clearly says in the menu that it comes with the purchase. (It being bean sprouts, mint, etc.) TBH that was very weird. The waiter told us it was a new policy to not include the side unless asked. But it specifically says it came with it on the menu. No big deal! Just wish they clarified so I didn't have to harass the staff for my sides!
All in all I would recommend this place if you had money to blow and wanted some "high end" Vietnamese food. Otherwise you might save a few bucks and get the same amount of bang at a different spot.
The spring rolls were bomb tbh that peanut sauce had me dreaming.
Appalling service experience yesterday. Server did not even say hello and looked at me with disdain the entire time. It was such a negative experience that I began to exclusively ask other servers for what I needed. Poor treatment completely undeserved, all my requests were for standard accommodation. Not sure that I could return given the disrespect that was displayed. Strongly suggest that you correct your staff.
I usually always order the shrimp pho and veggie eggrolls with a chai tea. It never disappoints.it's always fresh and oh so good.
Last visited November 21,2021. Today 12/19/21 I randomly get charged a debit transaction from this establishment. Be careful and pay attention to bank activities! I left a voicemail for management or owner, still no returned phone call or message.
I consider this place unsafe, they dont do anything to avoid covid contagios. If you want a terrible service and posibly contaminaded food, this is the place.
We asked very politely the waiter if he could wear a mask when bringing our food, he said no in a rude way, saying it is no required and told us that we could leave if we wanted to.
Easily one of my family’s favorite restaurants in Houston.
My wife’s been coming since the old location. The egg rolls usually don’t even hit the plate before they’re gone. Everything’s great, including the service, but the garlic beef is one of my go-tos. The chicken wings are also terrific.
We've been coming here for years and years for late night meals after clubs, concerts, shows.consistent great service and consistent amazing food
There are too many good Vietnamese restaurants in Houston to waste your time here.
Our server was rather abrupt and not at all helpful, though it appeared that the others were better than ours. The chicken in the Udon Noodle Soup (Banh Canh) was very tough and the broth was bland even though it was described as spicy. The beef in the Signature Beef (Bo Lac Luc) was tender, tasty and properly cooked, but overall the dish was mediocre.
Diid not get orders correct, you order what you want and they serve you whatever they cook, the food was bland and watery.
Not bad, really convenient location and hours. Been eating pho my whole life so I may be biased, but felt the pho here is modified to be really "safe", if you know what I mean. Like if I had friends who never tried pho before this is a great intro.
I’m an Asian food lover and when I say they have the best Singapore noodles and fried rice I’ve ever had, trust and believe. A little Percy but super worth it and they are open till 3am which is a plus for me.
Haven't been here in a decade. Best shaking beef and canh chua still. Friendly service. Attentive. Clean restrooms. Lots of parking the back.
The food was not that good. Expected a better experience. Me and my friend went for the first time and although the food wasn't the best that wasnt what got me to rate a 1 star. The service was god awful. To many people standing around watching and waiting to pick up your food. It made us feel uncomfortable as they asked us 4-5 times to pick up my bowl. Asked to speak to the manager after and he seemed to side with his workers. We wanted to express our concerns and he disregard our experience and continue to say "it's a misunderstanding" it wasn't. Doesn't matter if you think it is we were unhappy with our experience and your arguing with the customer without knowing the situation. Will never come again.
It has been better before. They fried the bbq pork and chicken bowls. Will try again. Maybe just the cook they had today
Oh man, this place is the best! Savory spring rolls or delicious phô take your pick of various vietnamese dishes and you won't be disappointed. Excellent atmosphere and speedy service. In my top 5 choices for asian cuisine in Houston!
