Mario's Mexican & Salvadorian Restaurant reviews
15This is our family’s favorite restaurant around here. They have awesome popusas and all the different dishes we have tried have been delicious. Their rice and bean dip are the best. We will definitely keep coming back! Recommend
Best bacon wrapped camarones I’ve ever eaten! (And I’ve eaten a LOT of them, lol). The sautéed veggies were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My son got the flank steak-very tasty. The entire family loved the bean dipping sauce with chips, too.
Shockingly, surprisingly good. I’m Mexican so was skeptical about this place…. I’m amazed at how good it is. Had steak fajitas & they were so good. Had the best server… haven’t had good service at a restaurant in a while… ask for Renata
The pupusas were absolutely so delicious! They pair it with a warm tomato sauce and a salad called curtido. Alex was extremely helpful in recommending us plates and patiently described what each plate brought. I’ve been living here for 30 years and have never found a salvadoran/mexican restaurant as great as this one, coming back tomorrow!
Found a long hair in the pupusas, got grossed out and told waiter. She was apologetic and told manager. Manager (the tall guy) did not check on us to discuss or apologize. So I called the manager over to let him know how disappointed I was in his handling. He proceeds to tell me that it could not have come from his kitchen because his cooks have short hair. No apology plus made it sound like I’m planting hairs in the food! Hair in food Bad, customer service terrible. And honestly coming from a Salvadoran pupusas sucked too much masa and not enough chicharrón. If you are looking for a GOOD Mexican/Salvadoran place this is not it. Go to Gloria’s instead, you will thank me later.
Best service we have experienced in a while! Never had to ask for drink or chip refills. Food was excellent ordered the Alex and serving size was much more than I could eat. At least I know what I'll be having for lunch tomorrow:)
I've never had Salvadoran food but it was pretty great, I highly recommend Mario's special to try a bit of everything. The mango margarita was a bit bland but the strawberry definitely made up for it. Their salsa and bean dip were amazing
Our favorite Mexican or Salvadoran place in the area. Great food and great service in a friendly environment. Really good quality for a reasonable price.
The texture and flavor of the Salvadoran offerings are a bit different than Mexican and other Caribbean cuisines, which we find refreshing. We enjoyed the very moist, flavorful tamales and pupusas, marinated chicken, salas, and plantains. The rice and beans are fantastic-a good meal by themselves. Tip: get the quail. You won’t be disappointed.
️Absolutely the worst experience today because of manager! ️
We have been here before and it’s been great but today was a nightmare.
From the moment we walked in the woman at the front was abrupt and unfriendly. We should have taken that as a sign! We got seated I asked for a margarita that tasted like a strong lemony chemical was on top. The other person at the table also agreed it tasted off. Our waiter hadn’t returned, so I took it to the bar and asked if they could remake it or switch it out. Bartender said ask the manager…her name is Loraine, the same angry woman who had seated us came aggressive waking over asking “what’s the problem”. I really hadn’t thought there was a problem but she was making it clear there was one now. I explained the situation and she said NO we won’t remake it and you have to drink it! If you want another you pay for it too! This was in front of several other patrons she was barking this to me. Still in shock, I told her this is terrible customer service and she said I don’t care! I mean… if I’m paying for a item at a restaurant I should be able to at least eat or drink it. Not many people want to pay for a cup of cleaner or weird tasted instead of a good margarita. We left didn’t order food and left the full margarita that tasted like lemon chemicals on the table completely full. It’s truly sad they’d have a manager so hateful, uncaring and disrespectful. She even said she didn’t care if we reviewed them. I’d Certainly hope our staff never behaved like this while representing our business. Looking to lose business fast if they keep that manager around.
The offerings, flavors and textures of the food were excellent. I was very happy with the Mario’s sampler and relished the quail dish of my husband. Everything was fabulous. Kids loved the bean dip with chips.
This place is delicious. I Tried it out once and then, went back 2 more times within about a week or so! You MUST try the FLANK steak with chimichuri (herb sauce.) The wait staff is so kind and usually, pretty attentive. Great tastes and spices here! They have happy hour drink specials.
I was very pleased and impressed with their customer service, by far the best I have been in the last few years. They have a person in the dining room making sure you always have what you need, never had to ask for water or anything else, top notch to say the least. The food was excellent! I had the Grill Quails which is not available at most restaurants and is not easy to cook because they are so small and tender, they were grilled to perfection!
If you haven't experienced what customer service is all about, give Mario's a chance you won't be disappointed!
I have eaten at the original at the Oak Lawn/ Lemon area in Dallas and it was always for lunch and always great. I love the salsas and bean dip. This location has it all. I do not like the fact it is in a strip mall instead of a stand alone building but a small annoyance. We ordered a meal for 2 but could have fed 4 to 5 easily. We are not shy eaters either. Great food.
This place is for real good. It's a Salvadoran place, but also serve really good Mexican as well, but me being Mexican want to try different, the pupusas are good, the yucca is good, but my favorite are the plantains, the black bean really tasty, and they also make a really good and tasty salsa.
This place has great food. I get food here often. I went in tonight around 9: 05 to get some food to go and was told that the kitchen is closed. The restaurant closes at 9: 30. Very disappointing! Have to find another spot.
