Market Square Park reviews
13 I was downtown for lunch this past week, and was absolutely delighted to find this park has all the trappings for the perfect solo-picnic: beautiful trees, flowers and distinctive water features, multiple nearby to-go lunch options including an in-park Niko-Niko's, a CVS across the street for sunscreen or other non-restaurant items, and a plethora of people-watching opportunities from your choice of shaded, or sunny, bench or tables!
Obviously perfect for a business, friendly, or intimate lunch date as well, I could not help but notice that this location would be the perfect launchpad for any fun downtown day or evening get together.
Thanks for maintaining and keeping this park one of downtown Houston's Best!
This is by far the best place to have an outdoor moment in the Downtown District: on your next lunch hour on a beautiful Houston afternoon, try online ordering from Niko-Nikos then renting a bike at the North-East corner of the park.
Do yourself a favor and ride down Main to the Bayou trails at UHD. All it takes is 15-20 minutes of this beautiful ride round-trip to raise your spirits and your heart-rate (and metabolism).
Head back to pickup and enjoy your lunch under one of the many oaks at Market Square ️ Even more fun with a coworker or friend!
Fun night, "Bingo in the Park". Great lighting, safe surroundings, the Bingo caller was fun and entertaining. I will attend, again.
The renovations to the park are very nice and Niko Niko's is the best. You will need to take precautions with the homeless that still stay there but all are just there looking for handouts and not dangerous.
The is what I would consider to be a local commodity for those who have K9 companions. Being a very calm shady spot to enjoy a quick rest for both you and your four legged friends. With the attached, fully gated and fenced dog park area; a sizeable living grass potty pad, and abundance of disposal areas, stocked with bar (f) k bags to pick up droppings. The grounds are well maintained by the city staff as well as the local urban campers who take on the duty (pun intended) of maintaining the appearance and sanitary condition of the area when some less considerate persons are in too big of a hurry to do so themselves. With a Nico's snack bar on site, this a pleasing little venue featuring peaceful fountains displaying reflective beauty for a passer by. Who would have thought such a humble quiet place still exist within the big bustling city of Houston, TX
With great weather, this is a fantastic little park in the heart of downtown, with a great restaurant in the park or several nearby. I definitely recommend a stop here.
Market Square has a peaceful ambiance about it. A historic area, where Houston began. Imagine a quiet park surrounded by skyscrapers, high rise condos and the original "old school" buildings with their masonry work from artisans from the by gone era of the original downtown Houston. There's clubs, restaurants and Market Square Park has a myriad of events for families, singles, yes dates and don't forget to bring your pet.a dog park is included. Enjoy!
Niko Nikos - Nice cozy spot to pick up a snack or brunch while waiting on public transportation. My desert was fabulous. I thought it was hot, but it was cold like an icebox pie, but awesome!
Well, a weekend visit to Houston and adventures took me to Market Square Park. A lovely place to relax and enjoy some refreshment. Watch people and enjoy the water falls and the buildings around. They had some food trucks and beer joint thing going on at the time.
What a nice place to stroll with your family or friends. It's shady, well populated & near popular businesses and restaurants. I saw about two security officers walk by in my 30 minute time there (I felt safe).
It is positioned perfectly to take a break from tour walk around town, to gran a bite and just sit an relax. Only drawback, it's a little smelly.
VERY delicious falafels! The baklava was also amazing! Reasonably priced menu with plenty of vegetarian options for me, and the outdoor dining (that's all there is.there is no indoor space) was perfect. 64 degrees with a very light breeze and clear sky. I will be back again in the future! I wish I lived closer!
Events, parades, cultural festivals, or normal walk in the parks happen here. Restaurant nearby and ice cream trucks too. Horse carriages are sometimes there. Theres a huge playground and water springs too.
