Martin Creek Lake State Park reviews
23They were doing a controlled burn while we were there and there was smoke everywhere. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of activity at the boating docks.
Beautiful park, friendly campers and fantastic park rangers. It's very clean and well maintained. We stayed at #34 which backs up to a beautiful lake view and the best sunset. So glad we came here. Definitely a great place for rv, tent or cabin camping.
First time staying here and we stayed 3 nights in cabin 2 and it was absolutely awesome. The park is so quiet and peaceful. We will be coming back for sure
Very clean and quiet park! The rangers and host are all nice. We LOVED the idea of the host that chops and sells firewood and gives proceeds back to the park, great recourse. The trails were very nice and well kept. And of course, the fishing was great. Clean bathrooms and showers.
My girls had a blast at night the plant across the lake looks like the titanic very pretty park is well kept and clean great place to take the family
I've come to enjoy the TX State Park system. Martin Creek is a great small park. The island and its trail is especially unique. Very clean and friendly staff.
Tranquility all around! The island access by walking bridge is so fun! Watched plenty of boats come and go, as well as bank fishing. Loved seeing the cabins and shelters within sight of the lake.we will be back to camp here!
Very nice! Clean, quiet, lots to do. I loved all the bike trails.some rough, some fine. Some in between. But all very fun!
Love the park but extremely annoyed at all the cast nets.people cannot even fish, they scare them all away. Sitting on the bank I’ve seen 10 different people with them.something should be done.
This park is simple, quiet, and smells great from all the pine trees. No bells and whistles here, just lovely scenery in a very laid-back area.
Quiet and uncrowded on the trail. A little wet and boggy in some places if it has recently rained so bring the right shoes.
In the Texas State Park system there are 79 parks where you can RV camp. On a beautiful Spring week end in 2019 we load up Ms V OurV and head east to spend two nights at Martin Creek Lake State Park. This beautiful and scenic Texas State Park is located on the banks of Martin Creek Lake. Travel Due east from Dallas on I30 for about 2 hours and then south from Longview for about 40 miles and you will be smack dab in the wonderful east Texas Piney woods. Martin Creek Lake State Park is just across the lake from a large coal fired power plan and that is the only real draw back due to the constant noise. Martin Creek Lake State Park is an excellent boaters destination thanks to the two boat ramps and huge parking area. If you enjoy fishing then Martin Creek Lake Ste Park is also a great place for you to visit! Come along with me as I tour Martin Creek Lake State Park!
RVing here for a week for under $50. Here for bow fishing with friends and family and catch for the day was 34 Tilapia while the kids caught 26! I'd say we're having a great time!
Family friendly, very clean, boat ramp, docks, camping rustic on an island or at main campground hookups, cabins and screen shelters. Day area, with playgrounds, swimming area, picnic tables, hiking trails, and Fishing Pier. Beautiful lake. Not bad fishing. Clean restrooms.
Camp staff was very friendly, restrooms we're kept clean. Saw staff using leaf blowers to clear paths and camp sites, never seen that done before at a state park, camp sites that I saw all had nice tent platforms with sand on the bottom for a nice smooth surface. It is a bit of a drive for us but I think we will be returning here. There is an island that you can hike into and camp on with no power or water, might want to try that next!
I remember going here a lot when I was younger.
I dont remember a massive refinery across the lake that receives shipments via train at all hours.
I still enjoyed my trip but that had much more to do with getting away from work and spending time with my family than with the particular sights here.
Nice place. Very Beautiful place. Will be coming back to stay a day or two. The small cabins look good. Will try the fishing too
Nice park. There were some minor things that I was disappointed in though. First the grill outside the cabins and shelters is a fire pit grill so be prepared to be cooking close to the ground and differently than a typical grill. I was also disappointed bc they did not have many places to throw your trash. When we visited half of the bathrooms were down but I am sure they will fix that soon. There was a large group of us so we got to experience the tent sites RV sites shelter with amenities and the cabin. Each were VERY nice. I was delighted to learn that the cabin and shelter door did not lock with a key but with a key pad which meant there was no key to keep up with while you were exploring the area. It started raining before we could get down the trail but I am very excited to go back and explore some of their trails as they sounded neat!
This is a well-maintained enjoyable park. The noise of the plant and trains across the lake can get loud it is tolerable.
Very nice clean park with camping, hiking and fishing opportunities. A $3 day use fee is required upon entrance which is a small price to pay for the upkeep that goes into this wonderful natural area.
