McAllister Auditorium at SAC reviews
10The McAllister Auditorium is located at Sanantonio college. I went to see a free performance by Agarita with some friends. It's a nice older smallish space, with older seating. Everything ran smoothly, and was well organized space. There's lots of parking available as well.
I attended a dance recital. The space was too small for the amount of people there. It was difficult to navigate, and the parking was a nightmare. The ballet recital performance was very nice.
My family and I saw the Nutcracker, and it was such an amazing act. I would definitely recommend it. McAllister auditorium was neatly kept, and the seats were comfortable.
I love the McAllister auditorium. I've gone several times with my daughter to watch school performances. It's always nice and clean. The music always sounds amazing. Parking is never a problem. The seats are a little snug in the middle section but in the section to the right the seats are a little more roomy and comfortable. I highly recommend you go check out a performance there. I promise you will thoroughly enjoy it.
O STARS.
I attended the SAC ASL Christmas Show last night 12/2/23 and I was cheering on my ASL friends who were performing in it and at intermission I was approached in the lobby by a visibly very angry SAC SAPD officer and the older female theater director whom wanted to kick me out right away because they thought my "deaf voice" was booing the show. Why the heck would I boo my ASL friends performing?
Remember this was in the lobby in front of many people and I am pretty very well known in the local community for hosting Deaf Coffee and Deaf Open-Captioned Movies every month for years since 2008 for the San Antonio Deaf-ASL Community so this approaching me in the middle of the lobby in *FRONT* of everyone made me look bad and was quite embarrassing and made everyone in the theater lobby look and wonder what I did wrong. I did nothing wrong but cheer "WhoOo! " To my ASL friends who were performing in the Christmas show.
Tactically very rude and embarrassing when it could have been done in private in an room or office somewhere in the theater, even go upstairs.
Bad theater management for this.
It's a beautiful auditorium with all the frills of a modern theater. The students of San Antonio College are lucky to have access to such a nice space for their plays and performances.
The theater is pretty welcoming, it has a lot is space and the equipment/lighting/space is magnificent for plays and other performances.
The seats are designed for skinny people only. I understand wanting to fit as many people as possible, but no one wants to be that close to strangers. More is not always better
Great venue. Wish I was watching theater instead of an awards show for my high schooler. Just kidding. The staff was firm, but kind.
I saw Agarita & Ballet San Antonio's performance. The auditorium was clean, well-monitored, and a perfect place to see a stage production. I didn't walk the whole building, but there was some nice artwork in the areas I did see. The only complaint I have is I found the seats a bit cramped and close together. Otherwise, I good venue.
