Mine and my roommates experience here has been incredible. This is our first apartment together and it's a dream, along with the staff. We plan on being here for a while and are looking forward to it!

I wish I could give them 0 stars. The management is very shady and unprofessional. They showed me an apartment, in which I had applied and paid the application and admin fee ($200) that very night of seeing the apartment. Mind you not the apartment has been listed on their website as available for about a week now. The next day when I went to check on the status of the application on the website, it said I had applied for a completely different apartment, not even close to what I had applied for (remolded, garage, etc) in fact it had none of that. When I had called they told me they gave the renewal form to the tenant living in the apt I had applied for that very morning and they resigned the lease for another year. So you mean to tell me you hadn’t even given the tenant a chance to resign a lease before showing their apt online as available? And you weren’t even going to tell me you attempted to move me to a random apartment in the complex I didn’t applied for? ! I would have been stuck in an apartment for a year that I didn’t sign up for if I didn’t check my application status. So I’m in the process of getting my refund because it’s not what they had promised on the website, and guess what, they’re trying to say it’s non refundable. Been going back and forth with the management and now they’re saying it’ll take a month before I get my refund in a check via mail. Just all around very shady and will try and scrap every penny out of you. Highly recommend staying away.

I do not recommend this apartment to anyone. There are too many rats and this is a huge turn off for me and family. We already moved to a better place. I am disappointed at McDermott place because they failed to offer me a healthy and safe living environment.

1. Searching the apartment on the website is very easy.
2. Seeing the details of the rent is quick and in a single page.
3. Seeing the floor plans is made very easy, also videos are there.
4. Signing the lease online is extremely easy.
5. Staff is very nice and helps understand almost everything which is needed, on the phone, on the email.
6. Flexibility of amenities, as in my apartment was not having washer and dryer, but the staff ensured it is available within 2 days of our arrival.
We moved from NJ to TX (Plano) on Sunday, and I was worried that how will I get the keys to the apartment, to my surprise, the staff made it available hanging on the door in a locker and the password was shared in my inbox. All the appliances were in very good condition, and maintenance arrived very quickly for answering our questions, we requested to add washer dryer, it was ordered well in advance and maintenance got it installed very quickly, there was one small area around the water heater which was left uncleaned, however the maintenance responded to our call and within an hour action was taken and it was vacuumed and pest control was called the same day, which made all delighted join the community.

I lived here and due to job transfer, I need to leave before my lease end date of 09/15. As I had set up autopay for rent, they had debited the full rent for September and are not ready to refund the differential amount back before my lease ends. It was really disappointing to see that when a resident leaves, how the behavior changes. I had handed over my apartment keys on 07/31 and did not received any email confirmation from them. By seeing their attitude, I wonder if they are going to false charge me for not returning the keys. I really felt bad on their irresponsible behavior as they never asked me stop autopay for the last rent. I have to wait unnecessarily longer to get my hard earned money back. It's really unprofessional. I will not recommend this place to any of my friends now.

I've lived here for years! I love it. Love my neighbors in my little alley. We have grill outs. I see someone posted about bugs and insects. I've never had that issue. That could be a personal problem lol. Clean your house.

I agree with Czechwrx. Due to all the remodeling it's been pretty crammed but other then that it's great. That will calm down soon enough

I would warn my friends and family against choosing McDermott Place.

Alliance Residential took over a few months into our lease, and management became apathetic and rude.

In the year that we lived there (moved out November 2018), our air conditioner broke 5 times. The first time it broke while it was raining, so naturally the outdoor unit could not be worked on. We sat in a humid 85 degree apartment for THREE days after submitting a work order with no response, our phone calls going unanswered. (Alliance Residential when you read this, I highly recommend implementing some process to reply to all work orders and customer contact immediately within business hours. At least say "Your request has been received and will be addressed soon" with follow up for any reason for delay.) On the third day, we went in person to the leasing office and had to argue to get a temporary window unit installed. It took five days from work order to 'repair' of our AC. The unit broke four more times, with varrying response time.

Some friends of ours moved into one of the newly renovated apartments despite our warnings about probable AC trouble. Their AC broke within a month of them moving in, leaving them without ac for 3 days before their unit was replaced. The quality of workmanship being done in the newly renovated apartments is terrible. We helped the friends move in, and saw chipped baseboards, sloppy paint, and uneven tile. The weatherstripping on their door was coming off, letting a roach crawl straight in right in front of us.

Communication is poor. We had an overspray issue that took a month to get 'resolved'. Management refused to directly help, and instead we had to work directly with the 3rd party superintendent, who took two full weeks to get in touch with us. During that time, management continuously said that if we didnt hear the next day, they would handle it - they never did. The office manager kept telling me all of their other residents with overspray problems were being well serviced - there were a lot of overspray comlaints when they painted the building exteriors. Probably due to residents being notified of the paint work 3 months before it happened, and not again before the work actually occured. The superintendent had our property repainted, but they scratched it in the process of delivering it and never responded again. We finally just gave up and decided to live with the damage rather than continue trying to have the situation put to rights by people who obviously did not care.

Additionally, there are many unsupervised children in the community that play in the streets and driveways- frequently running out in the path of moving cars. In any community, you expect noise, and this location delivered ten fold as you could hear the children screaming and howling as if they were right in your living room. This was the loudest apartment we have ever lived in.

The list goes on. I did not feel like Alliance Residential, or anyone at McDermott Place cared about the residents. We could not wait to get out at the end of our lease.

I regret the decision of moving here, overpriced, deceitful and with the change in management things took this U turn. We just receive very rude communication when asked for some service that has gone down.couple of issues that came up recently
1. They claim themselves gated community, but all the gates are open ALL THE TIME. Because if closed they dont open with the door keys provided by management.when approached the staff is so rude to say, what if gate X does not open, you can use Y. Such an irresponsible answer to say we have logged in a ticket with vendor to fix and there stops our responsibility. Are you serious?
2. Receiving mails/packages: Yes they receive, but when we go for collecting, they just direct you to the room to pick up your stuff, no validation of the sort to see if people are taking the right stuff. These were very structured earlier

With change in management they are more conscious about painting and keeping the exterior fresh so that they can lure people who come in first time. But if you come, stay you are in deep trouble to get all these and I 100% accept all the reviews about service degradation that is happening in the last 6 months

Would highly recommend to avoid McDermott Place. Since being bought out and placed under new management, the community has taken a drastic dive in quality and management. Many parking spots are taken up by construction dumpsters, with trash from the workers spread all over the complex and looks horrible, even leaving old used toilets out by renter's apartments for days on end. The new management does not care for their tenants, and issues brought to their attention are not addressed. A simple pool repair took all summer, and was not accessible for several months that people wanted to use it.

Stay away from all Alliance Residential properties! They are deceitful and have no integrity. Find another property that is not brokered by Alliance Residential. The buck stops with them so you can expect all of their properties to have the same ethos. I secured an apartment at the Mandolin for a future move-in date, two months away, Within 24 hours I had to cancel my plans because my divorce decree wouldn't let me move out of the county. No one would return my calls or return my emails for the next 10 days. I couldn't get in touch with anyone from the property. Finally, a lady answered the phone and notified me that the guy who pressured me into signing for the apartment had been fired. I explained my situation to the lady and she said I could only be released from the contract by paying $1200 (85% of the rent). But the apartment was never unoccupied. They still had a resident living in it for two more months. They weren't losing any money on this apartment. I'm being asked to pay a crazy amount for absolutely nothing. Yes, I understand that I signed an agreement and they are within their right to require me to pay that amount but a good business would look at the situation and handle it much differently. The right company would've agreed they weren't out any money in this situation, they would've owned and apologized that they had an employee who pressured me, and they would also take responsibility for being unresponsive for 10 days straight. But they chose to handle the situation much differently and with complete carelessness to a person's individual situation. I don't know about you, but I don't want to give my large rent check each month to a property who doesn't own their mistakes and just sees me as a check. They were wrong on so many levels and they did absolutely nothing to make it right.

Cecili is awesome! I spoke to her a dozen times on the phone about an out of state move to McDermott. She was always very prompt and helpful. Unfortunately, a last minute change in plans required me to select another location. But I would still highly recommend McDermott to anyone considering a move to that area! Good luck!:)

I just moved in less than a month ago.

My first visit to view the property I meet with Cecili. She had great customer service and super cool personality. Taylor assisted me several times and she is just wonderful.

At move in everything in the apartment was clean. The garage was the cleanest garage I have ever rented. The community is very nice and the are currently doing upgrades.

The down side for me is the garage is small even opening the door to get out is a little tight. I do have a one car garage attached to one bedroom. Not a lot of space to store items but it's a good space if you don't have much to store. No the other down side for me was the bedroom closet. I guess since I looked at so many apartments I must have recalled a different layout of the closet. The closet in the 1bedroom is deep but the wasted the storage space in the closet. The unit has high ceilings so if the would've move the shelves and racks up they could e ran another rail and shelf below for addition hanging and storage space. It's alot of wasted storage space in the closet. I had to add my own shelves to accomadare my things. I hate wastes space.

Besides the comments above this community is very nice and worth coming down a viewing the units to see if it will fit for you. Everyone seems super nice so far. I'll do a follow up post about 6 months from now.

They also do alot of appreciation events. I think that is awesome because it shows they really care about the tenants. So far I got emails about Easter and Mothers Day. They also had Pizza at the front gate. I'm happy o move here.

I am living in this community from past 2 years and I am not planning to renew my lease. Management changed around 6 months back with new management customer service degraded drastically.
Here are the few changes I noticed recently
1. We used to get email notification when we received any postal/courier package. We are not receiving that communication any more as well front office staff is very rude when we asked about it.
2. We used to get email communication regarding any planned service interruptions like power outage or building maintenance. We are not receiving any communication on recent outages.
3. Neighbor reported microwave maintenance and it took almost 3 weeks to get replaced after big shouting over the phone.
4. Swimming pool is under maintenance from last 6 months and looks like management is not worried about opening for labor day.
5. Fitness center is closed over the week end with out any communication.

I would recommend to avoid this place for your feature apartment needs.

I moved in about 5 months ago and have had few issues. New management just took over, so that has taken some adjusting, but they are really helpful.

Just signed our next years lease to McDermott Place. My little family has found a home here for sure. They are always so friendly when my dog I have to go into the office and they always have a treat for her. They have answers for questions I may have and if they don’t know, they find someone who does. There are lots of children in the neighborhood but to hear them having fun and enjoying the outside is nice from the boring, quiet suburbs we came from. So excited for Trick or Treat this year! There are families with dogs of all sizes too. Ours is only 40 pounds and fits perfect in our space and we are never too far from the designated potty areas for her. There is Russell Creek Park right across the street where she can stretch her legs, run, and be free too. I have never experienced problems but we do keep to ourselves and go with and understand the rules of the complex. We have recommended McDermott Place to others and will continue to do so. Here’s to another year!

Great community to live in within a great location. Nice amenities and staff always willing to help that make you feel as a valued resident.

Moving is smooth, attending service calls promptly, but common area maintenance should have been much better such as clearing dog waste, posting signs to clear dog poop etc to keep neighborhood clean.

Nor a good place for people looking for peace and quiet. There are lots of young children who are not controlled by their parents. They yell and scream like someone is harming them and the walls are very thin. There are children constantly playing in the driveways and they are not real quick to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. Not much parental supervision. Management is very unconcerned about the safety of the children or the noise. Maintenance is poor, we've been waiting several days for them to assess a problem with our microwave. Also our AC had a leak and they serviced it 3 times with freon before they decided it should be replaced. The bedroom is very hot. Nice windows but very hot especially with no AC.
