AVOID AT ALL COST! This hospital does not care about you or human life. They only care about making money off of your insurance.

WAIT TIME
Incase you can’t avoid it and this is your only option, be ready to wait 7-8 hours before you see a doctor. When you raise your concerns about the wait time and not getting proper attention needed to your medical needs in a timely manner then they are very argumentative.

DIAGNOSIS
They don’t allow any family member to be in the back with the patient which is understandable. However, when the doctor was requested by the patient to explain the diagnose to the family, the doctor refused stating that he does not have time to talk to the family. The request was to ensure that we understand the details in case we had any questions. The diagnosis was to follow up with the primary care provider in the morning even though the patient could not stop vomiting and had abdominal pain. When the patient refused to be discharged that’s when the nurse practitioner came outside to talk to the family and explain the most basic details which didn’t take more then 5 mins.

DISCHARGE RESULTS
The hospital gave us a copy of basic blood work they performed. We requested for the copy of the CT scan that was performed for the abdominal pain. They told us to come back tomorrow since their cd burner was not operational at the moment. This is MEMORIAL HERMAN RUNNING A HOSPITAL. What a Shame!

WORST EXPERIENCE + STAFF + WORST CARE.

Very bad service, nonskill staff. They don't know even how to install the IV.
I signed papers just to leave the place asap. The put my life on risk.

The ER consists of a bunch of recliners in a hallway. If you need an IV you’re taken into an infusion room. There is zero privacy and HIPAA violations are rampant, I can hear everyone’s diagnosis and protected health information. The place is dirty and nobody wipes down the recliners. If you’re in severe pain you’re just screwed. Family is not allowed back. I hope I can get the heck out of here to someplace clean and safe.

We had a great experience at this ER. I was shocked how quickly they cared for my grandmother. We were in and out in less than 3 hours. They ran all scans and bloodwork so quickly and were clear communicating the diagnosis and treatments.

Some reviews complaint about privacy. They filter people through different public rooms, but I do believe this is how they can keep things moving so quickly. One of the nurses said she’s been a ER nurse for 30 years and they used to keep everyone in the front waiting room until a room became available. Now they move the patient to a back waiting area after triage to get them started right away on labs. The family is not able to be back with the patient but again I understand the reason for that.

The nurses were great at communicating with me and answered all questions I had. The staff was all so friendly and made my 86 year old grandmother feel at ease. They were reassuring to her and made jokes to lighten the situation.

I’m very thankful for this ER, their efficiency, and expertise!

I will NEVER visit this emergency room again. As someone who is in and out of hospitals frequently due to an autoimmune disease, I can honestly say that this is one of the worst emergency rooms in the area. If this is all you read of this review trust me and RUN away from this ER.

I came in with extreme pain in my upper abdomen that radiated through my chest and up into my shoulder on a Sunday evening. I was taken to triage where they took my vitals and hooked me up to the ECG machine. I was hooked up for no longer than 30 seconds before they removed the leads. The doctor came in and started asking me questions about my pain, when it started, etc. I told her I started having the pain shortly after a workout the Friday prior. She asked me ZERO followup questions ("Do you workout frequently", "Are you new to exercise? "). She IMMEDIATELY states that she's sure I pulled a muscle and this is a muscular situation. I proceeded to tell her that I know what a pulled muscle feels like and this is different. She said ok and said they would get an x-ray and CT.

The nurse takes me back to a hallway lined with chairs seperated by partitions. There is absolutely NO privacy. I can hear every conversation had with every patient. I know names and date of birth from each time a nurse comes out calling for a patient and then confirming their sensitive info right there in the hallway. I'm sure HIPPA would have a field day with this.

Finally, someone comes out to get an IV started so they can run some bloodwork. They draw blood and put an IV in to give me pain medicine and fluids. I am taken from there to get my X-ray. I will say that the nurses who drew my blood and took me to my x-ray were SO kind. I know they are overworked, tired and exhausted, especially that close to shift change, so I appreciated their kindness and attention to me. The one star I left definitely goes to them. It was the first time I was offered a warm blanket and they also offered a wheelchair if it was too painful to walk. I declined the wheelchair and walked with them to and from my chair.

When I got back from my x-ray, someone was in the chair that I had previously so they sat me in a different chair and hung my IV bag on the wall. I'm sitting there wondering if the chair and partition was sanitized and sterilized before I they sat me in it, my guess it probably not as I witnessed many people coming and going into the chairs around me without any sterilization. This is a hospital for God's sake with sick people everywhere! They should at least be wiping down the chair before another patient enters it. I'm sure there's a rule or procedure that's being broken there.

I continue to sit in my chair and wait for my results. My IV bag finishes and I still sit and wait. After nearly an hour, the doctor comes back and asks me what my level of pain is. I tell her that it hasn't changed, even with the pain medication. She proceeds to tell me that my X-ray is clear and she's now 100% sure that it's a muscular related pain. They are going to discharge me with a pain medication and course of treatment is rest. EXCUSE ME? I ask about the CT that she stated previously she was going to perform. She tells me it's not needed based on the X-ray being clear. I ask about my pain and why the medicine didn't help. She says I probably just need another dose. It doesn't matter what I said, she was intent on discharging me.so I was.

Fast forward to morning and I cannot even get out of bed without collapsing to the floor because the pain is so excruitiating. I immediately went to another emergency room where I was put in an actual room and they ran a CT. Guess what. IT WAS MY GALLBLADDER. If the Memorial Hermann Emergency Room doctor had run the CT she would have seen it. She misdiagnosed because she just didn't care.

And to add insult to injury, I got a bill in the mail for over $10,000 for a less than 2 hour ER visit and a misdiagnosis!

So moral of the story. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS EMERGENCY ROOM!

My family and I had a negative experience today, December 28,2023. I went for an emergency to Memorial Hermann Katy Emergency Room (ER). I went to the hospital to request help, but I was turned away. I have cardiac problems, low back pain, and an inability to walk all contributed to my disability (ADA). A doctor, or maybe a nurse practitioner, told me they could not treat me, which was weird to me. When I go through flare-ups every few months, I normally visit my pain management physician, or the closest Emergency Room (ER) just in case I can't get a hold of my doctor, to receive help for low back pain because I can't walk.

I can't remember the nurse or doctor's name in the ER, because I was in pain. So, I talked to the chief of staff and patient advocate about the situation, and they talked to the doctor he still denied me, so we had to leave, and my body was still in pain. I did hear a caucasian woman who had back issues leave the waiting area and never return to the waiting room, which seemed odd that they were admitted to the ER. In my opinion, it suggests that they are racist towards African Americans. Please take note of this hospital because they are not fighting for equal rights for black people who are suffering. PLEASE BEWARE of this hospital. They need to get sued for turning people away or talked to corporate for my rights as an Americans with Disabilities.

Baby girl came via ambulance for a seizure lasting longer than 20 minutes. Pedi ER doctor sent us home rather quickly saying it’s normal. No tests (though I requested them twice) were performed. We were back the very same day for the same thing and luckily another doctor was on shift. He assured us that is NOT normal, and we were even transferred to another hospital that could better handle our situation. Thank GOD for this doctor. Within hours of getting to the next hospital, baby went into another seizure that the staff could not stop and then into respiratory failure. A team of doctors and neurologists assured me there is nothing normal about a 20+ minute seizure especially in a 10 month old baby. She was admitted for days, every test ran in the book, and is now on seizure medications.

I am filing a formal complaint against the first doctor. This is egregious! I will never bring any of my children back here (which is sad because the second doctor was amazing, but I cannot risk getting the first doctor ever again).

Such a bad ER, there is no privacy and not following HIPAA policies. Patient doesn’t even have a room to get treated. And they are asking people to sit in the cubes they built for getting treated. It’s not an emergency room, very clumsy everywhere around ER. Urgent care facilities are more better than this ER. Also we saw a nurse who is coughing without the mask, people in ER are vulnerable to catch any disease even if they don’t have cough or fever. They are not hygienic. Overall experience is very bad.

About 4 people there were extremely nice. The others were horrible. One lady that works at the front desk was very, very rude and unkindly. I should’ve looked for her name. I would never come here again because of her mostly. They don’t allow anyone in this little section they have. They let everyone know what’s wrong with you. & they don’t even put sick people in rooms. It was a total mess in that place. The other ladies were so so nice tho.

DO NOT have your babies here. We were put into a room with brown water that shares a wall with an entirly new construction area, a brand new baby and recovering mom had to listen to jackhammers for HOURS so loud we had to yell to hear the nurses. The nursing staff and doctors were all incredible and I feel bad for them having to listen to 18 plus hours of construction every day. GOD AWEFUL leadership to allow such a blatant disregard for the patient. We wont ever come back and advise you avoid this hospital due to the obvious judgement lapses by the leadership.

Took my son there today Dr Kilpatrick was not helpful very close minded and didn’t try to help or find any alternatives to treatment. Not surprising the place is rated 2 stars. My best advice is go to to Methodist on 1093 I wish I knew was one 24/7

I will forever be grateful to the emergency staff who were working on Thanksgiving eve (11/22/2023) in the Memorial Hermann Katy location. A special thank you to the four doctors who attended to my daughter. I’m sorry I didn’t get your names. I brought her in because her heart was racing at over 200BPM. The doctors worked with urgency, efficiency, and with a high degree of confidence and calmness that helped keep me relatively calm. I knew from the way they were working that my daughter was in good hands. For this Thanksgiving, and for years to come, I will always look at this as something to be very thankful for.

I would give ~0~ Stars if possible.
My experiences are the same as others.triaged in that filthy waiting room, sat in the long hallway of doom and finally to the BIG Room where you go to learn about everyone else in the BIG room.
FIRST! I will NEVER use them again!
There is absolutely no privacy, dignity or respect given to you as you move from one bad situation to another.
I was having anaphylaxis shock after an infusion the day before. The first nurse pulled me in and she was asking questions and before I could answer, she was on to the next question, documenting nothing. I see the doctor in there. He makes grand promises but they quickly became lies. Onto the long hallway of doom, when I get there, there are 13 people waiting to move to the BIG room. One man is vomiting BLACK in puke tubes. I had to help get him some wet rags, I fanned him and he was moaning in pain saying he was dying and cussing. A nurse walked by, saw the black vomit mess and told the man one more outburst and he would be removed from that ER and he would block him from all ER’s within 60 miles. FINALLY a nurse heard me and sequestered the man. As I sat there, there were SEVEN patients who needed translators. They would not let family members translate so they were pulling people from various jobs in the hospital, like, janitors, cooks, EMT’s, etc. I finally go to the BIG room where you quickly know everyone because you are sitting shoulder to shoulder. IT IS AWFUL! The chairs are sticky, the floors are filthy, the bathroom opens right into the BIG room and you can hear everything happening in the bathroom. The nurses are dirty, greasy hair, scrubs so tight you can see their underwear when they decide to bend over or stretch, food stains all over their scrubs, not wearing gloves, dropping medical trash from their moving carts, need I say more? And if you ask one for help, they always say, I’m busy getting meds for so n so, so grab the next nurse that comes by, which was difficult because there were only 2 who were really working and not strutting around acting busy. I had to BEG for any medications to help with my reaction. Covered in hives, unable to swallow or breathe, weak, feverish, etc. I got ONE shot of Benadryl! 10 hours and ONE SHOT OF BENADRYL! I could not even swallow the pill version so they reluctantly gave me a shot. I didn’t ask for any pain meds, only meds to stop vomiting, swelling of my tongue, hives, etc. ONE SHOT OF BENADRYL! 10 hrs!
When I was released, the paperwork was not mine. Said I had blood work and a Urine test that DID NOT HAPPEN! They said it would happen but between the hallway of doom and the BIG room of lost hope, no one followed up with my blood or urine testing. Not my job! The doctor, who never touched me or listened to me, told me how to take the OTC medication he was recommending but when MY paperwork was FOUND, it had completely different instructions for how to take the OTC meds. Nurse leaves, comes back and tells me my doctor is new and came from Methodist West and they have a different medication protocol for people like me who are having issues with my gall bladder, kidneys and bladder. I did not come in with issues with any of those organs! The nurse lady tries one more time to give me my paperwork and it is still
Wrong! By this time, I have hives everywhere but I had developed a “mask” of hives across my face. They told me it was all okay and I was probably just hot! It was the night the temperature dropped down to cold.
I ask the nurse what else I needed to do for the allergy that was still going and she said this, “Go home, put on comfy PJ’s, open a bottle of wine, grab a good book, soak in the tub in the hottest water you could stand and eat very small bites of food until you can keep something down. ” WHAT? She was serious and told me I was not leaving with any medications so I would need to find a way to self soothe and if I came back to the ER, she would have me removed. Now my story sucks but I was sitting by three people who all had to be admitted to the hospital and one was terminal.

Staff from start to finish were kind, patient, caring, and professionals. I bout my daughter in bc none of the ofc medicines worked. None of the motherly remedies that always work—they failed.so I bout my kid in to the professionals and I’m glad I did. I’m praying she can return to school today

People were not kidding when they said they were being killed there in ICU. I have a family member that was so dehydrated that their mouth was gummy inside. They were in restraints due to trying to pull out tubing, which I can understand, but come on people! Give your patients water or at least an IV drip. He couldn't use his restrained hands, so someone needs to offer it to him! He was finally able to talk after 2 full glasses of water. I gave him. This doesn't even touch the surface of the problems. I've contacted an attorney.

The 1 star can be for taking me immediately, but that’s it. If you like privacy and want HIPPA laws to be followed do NOT go to Katy Memorial Hermann! I was put in the hallway after triage to wait for lab work. My husband was not allowed back with me the entire time. They called me quickly to get labs done. I was put in another room after that with chairs in the center and recliners against the walls. They had Command hooks to hold the IV bags and this is were I sat the entire time. They have nurses walking around taking peoples vitals. So people who are having heart problems they do not monitor your heart. They just take your vitals a couple times. There is zero privacy. I knew everyone’s name, date of birth, phone numbers, address, why they were there, some patients medical history and their diagnosis. I knew the blood pressure and heart rate of woman in chair next to me. I knew she had diabetes, her feet were turning purple and she was in a lot of pain. She wanted to lay down so bad. I’m not sure what the rooms are for in the ER if they aren’t for people in severe pain. Another gentleman next to me also in severe pain was moaning. The doctor or a nurse walked up to him and told him in a normal voice for everyone to hear that he had to have gallbladder surgery. Then surgery came in to get him and again spoke about him needing surgery and took him up to surgery. The whole time his wife is in the waiting room hearing the news via text from her husband. I could not believe that I this was acceptable! Doctor’s offices even put people in a private room with a closed door. They have signs posted that say no photography or videos, but serious who is monitoring this! I had to tell the nurse to please help the woman next to me. Since no family is allowed in this room, there is no one to advocate or speak up for anyone. The doctor walked up to me and asked if I wanted to discuss my results where I was sitting or if I wanted to go somewhere private. I was only 1 of 2 people asked that question. We ended up walking to a room in the hallway that appeared to be used for bloodwork because the only chair available was one you find when you have bloodwork done. I don’t know if this is a result of how they did things during Covid or if this is just the new standard, but I will make sure everyone knows not to go there. I haven’t been to Methodist since before Covid but I hope it’s better than what I witnessed on Saturday! I’m sure my bill will not be any less then when I had a bed in a room and a nurse that took the time to take care of you. Oh and I was sent home with my BP elevated, pulse elevated, tightness in my chest, dizziness and a headache. Nothing was done except a few test. I was not asked how I felt, if I still had symptoms or what medication I took. They had on my discharge paperwork medication I stopped taking over 8 years ago and never confirmed anything. I hope this isn’t the new norm for medical care.

The emergency room nurses are wonderful and seem to truly care. Don’t ask the lady that takes care of insurance anything. She was complaining out load about other teammates, in a very bad negative way. I was in the lobby from 1am to 4: 30am with absolutely no news on my son. Lobby had only two other family members. Understand if this emergency room was busy, but it was not. A nurse came to talk to me because she heard how the insurance lady spoke to me. Bad review over one persons action. Her Customer service skills needs some work.

When there is no one in the ER and you still work slow, what do you think the problem is? May be it is right for US healthcare to die and people prefer medical tourism more and more. Scum
