Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant, San Antonio TX

No stars for if it let me. My mom had a procedure going to be done to her. 1st we got got dropped off because of parking was unavailable. The valet people, Had all these cars parked right right in front of the hospital with no one in them turned off so we had to get dropped off way at the end and my mom has to use a cane and walks very slow. I feel bad for the people who have their wheelchair and can’t be dropped off right in front of the hospital because valet has all those cars empty parked right in front, blocking the whole entire front entrance. 2. We get in they did not give my mom any paperwork such as what level where to go l just that she had a procedure done. We ask for the registration the ladies in the front have look in their face like they don’t know what we are talking and she gives us the wrong floor no employee around have to go all of the floor and look. Thank God for a good Samaritan who asked if we were OK while we were looking for registration he told the right floor and this is not an employee. This is another patient. No signes so you can know where you’re at or where you are going. My poor mom going with me all over the hospital. They need to be more organized and at least have employees on an each floor to help people who are not familiar with the hospital. If not have signes or a board of table of contents on the wall. Please do better about your valet parking people as well with all those empty cars all lined up in front blocking the Hospital entrance. There are people who use walkers, who use wheelchairs, who use canes be considered of them YOU are a hospital. DO better! You all get so much money you can do better!

Due to complications from my bladder cancer, I had my right kidney removed at this facility and can say top to bottom every healthcare worker I came in contact with was professional and caring. So glad this is where my surgeon practices medicine. I would go Back there anytime hopefully for something elective though.

Called to ask a simple question about my upcoming surgery and the lady that answered the phone was being rude and seemed like she didn’t even want to be there. Acting all confused and then told me she was going to transfer me to someone and transferred me to an automated system that hung up on me. Didn’t even want to waste my time calling back so it’s whatever.

After transplant surgery for my liver I was in the absolute best hands ever! The care of the staff is family like. I recommend Methodist to anyone who wants to be treated promptly and with extreme care. I felt safe from the moment I arrived to the moment I woke up from transplant surgery. These people are more than workers they love their patients and their jobs. Methodist is the best for people like me, who are nervous about operations and the care they will receive after. I was taken wonderful care of.

I was checked into the emergency dept. At midnight. Checked out at 6 a.m.
I'm leaving this review because I can not believe how disruptive the behavior of the overnight Staff was. They were beyond unprofessional.
The Dr & Nurse attending me directly were great.
But there was a group of medical staff who were extremely loud and obnoxious. Mind you it was between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m.
I was In severe pain. When my pain would calm down, I tried to get rest and sleep waiting for the Dr.

These people would not let that happen. I've never been to a hospital where the staff cursed out loud. One woman called a patient a B** (not to the patients face) but had no filter expressing herself about the patient. The staff sat in the middle of the E. R gossiping loudly, laughing and having the time of their lives while patients tried getting rest.
I'm all for having a good time at work but seriously it's an E. R.with people sick and in pain. I just wanted to rest when the pain wasn't present.

They had no courtesy whatsoever. No professionalism, cursing away. No empathy for the environment and sick people trying to rest. Loud and careless. I've never experienced this at any hospital.

The treatment was great. The Dr and Nurse where professional and efficient but these people were out of line.

Lab appointments make you wait over an hour. My husband has had good and bad experiences here, recently he had 3 falls until they did something about it. Our night stay in August was one of the scariest for us and I felt so helpless, I can only hope they teach their staff better and get more organized with treating patients better.

I want to the emergency on 10/11/23. I had hypotension, and my blood pressure reading was 80/55. We checked in front with mele nurse he gave us fourm to fill out we did, and my wife explained to the situation he was Carles. We waited for almost one hour. I started having blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, and dizziness. I almost fainted we left because I couldn't take it any more to St Luke's Hospital over there right a way they checked in and the doctor saw my right away I am planning to make complains to Dept of Health and the State.

Doctors have taken real good care of my mom. While she was here on different occasions. Doctors and nurses are nice and professional.

They have been taking care of my husband and providing us with all the information we need.

From what I remember on 6/28/2021: OR staff was awesome, Thank you Dr Diaz and Dr Djenic for the immediate response to my situation that required me to be on a ventilator and for Dr Peter. I dont remember the male OR nurse, but he wears an A&M scrub cap.

ICU first floor was great but one bad apple. Tuesday I was taken 6/29 to OR for Mediport placement and when I arrived in the ICU someone left the tourniquet on my Left upper arm. I felt it even though I was tied down, sedated and on a venilator. One of the IV team nurses saw this and took a picture. Thank you for that one nurse.

My Tuesday night nurse was a bit of a grump. She actually told me I didnt meet cirteria for being in the ICU even after being extubated earlier that day. (I had two IVs and had a foley as well, still unsteady) I was not given an incentive spirometer after extubation or any education as to what to do. I felt trapped in my bed, I was a bit emotional and did not get any compassion from my night nurse. I had an excrutiating Head ache through out the night on Tuesday night, with no relief after taking meds.i got tylenol and a narcotic. Nurse was more concerned with me sleeping than with me getting any relief. I wasnt in it for the Narcs.believe me. I hate be sedated or having any type of brain fog.and I had plenty. I was not trying to be difficult. I just didnt vibe with the Tuesday night nurse. I felt like a burden.

Very disappointed our mom was transferred to this hospital on her arrival to her room they just gave her the room and she had to undressed herself they didn’t remove her shoes was never plug to her IV no medication all for her pain medication and has not been given none as we arrived her room was a mess very discussed if I can post the pictures I would I walk up to the nurse counter as for her nurse and she was like let me see then her reply was oh is me. I requested to have maintenance come over and clean her room and attend to her

The staff truly care about patient well-being and took every step they could to ensure that I was comfortable and safe. If you or someone you know is having a hard time with mental health, please reach out and seek help, these folks saved my life.

Don't come here if you think you can stay with your loved one. My 18 yr old is alone and scared hopefully she will get addaquate treatment instead of getting discouraged and want to leave. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't an emergency.

This is the best hospital we have been to in San Antonio. Checking in was so easy, it was very clean. The nurses were wonderful, the pre op
was the best. We were very happy with the entire process.

I had to go to this hospital last week for an MRI under sedation. I had looked all over the place for a location that could do this and I finally was able to get an appointment here. The reason I required sedation for the MRI was that I had had two failed attempt where I had massive panic attacks while inside the MRI and they could not do the scan. I was still very apprehensive about getting an MRI even with the sedation. I was concerned that I would be aware enough to still panic and that would cause further issues with claustrophobia. My fears were completely unfounded.

The staff were all amazing during my visit. Everyone was very compassionate and understanding. I have completely forgotten the name of the woman who did my IV and administered the medication. I blame the Versed, haha. But in any case, she was awesome. Very friendly, calm, and reassuring. She started my IV on the first try, which hardly ever happens for me. She explained everything thoroughly and told me that she wasn't going to put me back in the machine until she was certain I was ready. I was very nervous when I laid down but that soon disappeared with the administration of the medication. They offered me a blanket and eye mask, which I think helped a lot as well. I only vaguely remember even being in the machine, and there was no panic. I was super drowsy afterwards but that was to be expected. If I need to have another MRI in the future, I would definitely feel comfortable coming back to this hospital. My deepest gratitude goes to the staff who made the experience much less traumatic than I feared.

Great experience with Francis my nurse and the physicia Ms. Floyd. The fibroscan was fast and professional also.

It is a hospital with a highly trained staff of doctors and nurses. Helping to save lives is very competent. All the staff are very well organized, from doctors, nurses, caregivers, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, radiology staff. Staff in the operating rooms. A great effort is made every day to help save lives.

Great medical staff. Always Health #1 and stay healthy staff and everyone so dedicated. Congratulations!

This is the only hospital that I trust. They have saved my life several times over the years but these last two months has really put them thru it all. Once again they saved my life, Dr. Rashid is the most wonderful and great Doctor he has been there all the way from the ER, ICU third and fifth floors. He never missed not one day without seeing me, he works 24/7 seriously I do not know when he has any time to sleep. He has not once never saw me like I previously said he will come in at anytime day or night, he has came in any time in a 24hr time frame, example last night it was like 10: 30pm ish. This Doctor is amazing. Nurse Natasha is one of the best ever, the OT and the PT Nurse Jackie so professional, caring and really outstanding these Ladies are wonderful, funny and very professional as well as caring. From the Doctors, Director, Nurse's, PCA's, Housekeeping, to the Cafeteria Staff. I have to mention the Chef's one number and word describes the Chef (5 Star), this is for real the food taste, preparation and display is the one of the best ever, I'm not even not being truthful this is for real the greatest hospital ever. Nurse Kami and CPA Valeria are so caring, knowledgeable, wonderful and so professional as well as so hard working just as Mrs. Martha in housekeeping. My room stayed so clean and nice because of this lady. Nurse Renee & CPA Meranda are a great team. Nurse Renee stayed on top of things and when I was getting seriously sick and in so much pain she took care of everything. Just an amazing great group of professionals and awesome hospital.
