Mickey Cho, M.D. - Hand, Elbow & Shoulder Surgeon, New Braunfels TX

So I had elbow surgery, I thought my elbow pain would go away with time, I've called to Dr Cho's office where he practices left messages, never get my calls returned my elbow hurts still 2 yrs later, Dr Cho doesn't seem to care otherwise my messages would've been returned. If I rest my elbow on the recliner armrest it hurts bad!
If you use Dr Cho make sure your completely healed because he won't care if you hurt once you leave his office after surgery. Sincerely Tomas Chavez

This is my first negative review ever. I owned a small business so I'm cautious about this.

First for context, they stated clearly that they accept tricare, and are accepting new patients. So everything that is to follow is with me already having that knowledge.

Second, it's nearly impossible to get a human on the phone when you call. I have been trying to get an appointment here for over a week. I tried on 3 different occasions last week. When I finally did get someone on the phone, they transferred me to their scheduling department. The same one I'm normally automatically routed to, but then sit on hold so long I give up. Today I waited, and got someone. That person asked me if I'm still with "Tricare east". For those Veterans that have Tricare, you know that from a customer service aspect, there are several regions. However, your policy or coverage does not differ if you are in the "south", or "east", etc. I told the woman that I think the regions have changed, and I'm used to hearing "Tricare South", when I call in, but as long as they accept Tricare everything will be just fine and I'd like to proceed with booking my appointment. I assured her that my Tricare is good to go, and it definitely still works. It paid them last time, and it will pay them again. Her response was.and I quote "so you can't answer the question then. " and immediately puts me on hold. I didn't even hear her say hang on.

I called back, 3 times today trying to get a human, and I finally got a front desk person, and explained what happened with their rude scheduler. She then insisted we needed to make sure the referral was good, I kept explaining I have Tricare Standard (which works like a PPO), and I DO NOT need a referral. Tricare Prime is an HMO, and you need a referral, but that's not what I have. I've been using this for 20 years, I assured them once more, that if they accept Tricare (which they said they do), then all will be well with the world, can we please proceed with booking a dang appointment.

The crazy thing is that I've used my Tricare at this office before with a different doctor for my back. Appointment was paid for as expected. I have $0 balance with them.

In summary, Called several times 4 different days, stayed on hold a total of over an hour, talked to 3 people, and am now awaiting a call back.to book an appointment with a clinic that DOES accept my insurance.but fore reasons I can't understand this has been over complicated to a comical degree.

If I get an appointment and have a better experience then I plan to modify this review.

The whole experience was very pleasant. The staff was professional, friendly, and eager to provide all details of my injury and what I needed to do, for rehabilitation.

As a disabled vet I’ve had over 50 surgeries. Had the greatest doctors across this country, I still come to Dr. Cho. I’ve had 2 wrist and 1 elbow surgically repaired by Dr. Cho. He really cares about the long term wellness of his patients.

I saw Dr Cho for pregnancy related Carpal Tunnel. I was seen and treated with steroid injections on the same day. The visit was quick, informative and so helpful. I was told that it would take about a week to feel better, but honestly I felt better in 2 days. I have so much strength back in my hands and can hold things again! I highly recommend his services if you are struggling like I was.

Very informative! His scheduler was even better. They both made me feel really brave in a short amount of time very nice

Dr. Cho is always knowledgeable and helpful. I feel confident, and trust his care. Great surgeion.

Dr. Cho has been treating me for over a year now (I think, I can't remember exactly when I started to see him.) He has always been very nice and explains things well. I feel like he is good at checking in with his patients to make sure they understand the course of treatment and are comfortable with it. I feel confident that he will continue with the current treatment and make adjustments as needed if there isn't sufficient improvement. I would recommend him.

I should add that he's very fast and efficient with the steroid injections he has done in my shoulders. I usually have some anxiety about needles but he gets everything set up and then goes through the process quickly so you don't have time to get nervous about it, but he still explains what he's doing.

Efficient and professional! The staff is attentive and caring. Dr. Cho is knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. He covers the diagnosis and options extremely well!

Dr. Cho was on-time, extremely kind and gentle and explained why my hand that I fell on was hurting so bad after viewing the exrays from Urgent Care. He offered me a cortisone shot and am hoping this helps within 48 hours. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I was very happy with my visit with Dr. Cho. He was personable and genuinely paid attention to my concerns. He was also very efficient, and did not waste my time.
