Mission Concepción reviews
18Amazing. Unrestored for over 300 years. Unfortunately, we could not see the inside since they were closed New years day. There was a gentleman there that told us about it's history. Looking forward in going back when it's open.
The church and surrounding village is truly worth the visit. I actually saw 3 churches over 300 years old. Each had different information.
Also a beautiful serene place to visit and relax. They have pic nic tables and we sat to eat and it was peaceful.
Mission Concepción is both a historic and cultural gem. While it’s one of the smaller missions, it’s equally as nice to visit as its peers. Not a lot of time needs to be set aside to enjoy Concepción, unless you’re lucky enough to partake in the weekly mass held on Sundays.
Didn’t know San Antonio had this locations around town. This location is actually small, and it’s free. Parking close by, and everything is close by. You can rent bikes n roll from one mission to another, I believe there are 2-3 miles apart only
Spent $40 in one week just to see my son play baseball. $10 every time to get in! $160 a month! What a scam! It’s so ridiculous they charge so much to get in. Concession stand takes forever and restrooms smell.
Beautiful experience! Wonderful to see the beauty and be able to see this truly great gem.
If you haven't been that's a nice place to explore that has some walk paths in the back by the river
It is a piece Texas history I can touch and smell. The tour of the mission puts you face to face with our ancestors and their plight.
Good historical location. I love the fact that they are all close from each other 5-10 min drive, so you can see them all in one afternoon.
While in SA this last time we visited the Missions.in fact that was high on our list of must dos.not disappointed.loved them all!
It's so fascinating to learn and walk through history right here in San Antonio. I highly recommend visiting all of the missions, even on a bike ride is great in the cooler months.
Beautiful church I would recommend it to anyone visiting or that lives in san antonio. After mass you can go on multiple trails either bike riding or walking. Loved every second.
Interesting place. Loved the church. Fantastic that Texas is doing everything they can to maintain and restore these places.
Sad history. Interesting architecture. A part of history to remember and learn from. The staff was helpful, friendly & knowledgeable about the history. The facilities were well maintained.
An ancient church with interesting vibe, apparently this is a church setup by Spanish invaders to convert local American natives to catholicism. The church has its own ranch, farm etc, where the converted native americans used to work. The place is now turned into a church + museum of sorts, where all this information is presented.
This was the first of our missions we went to. We followed a trail with the address I got off of the parks and wildlife webpage. There is some history information on placards inside the rooms. Make sure to looked at the ceilings, walls, floors, and behind every wall there are alot of history in these missions. Each mission is still a working church. This one in particular has the church access point from the back courtyard.
We attended the Sunday at noon mariachi service and it was a wonderful experience. The mariachi sang the hymns in Spanish and added a beautiful touch to the mass. The priest's sermon was great and we felt very welcome as guests to the church. The mission grounds are nicely maintained and a great way to go back in time.
