MudBugs - A Cajun Joint, Buda TX

We were a party of 8, and Erin attentively served us, gave us great recommendations and kept our cups full. All 8 of us loved our dishes (gumbo/fish and chips/burger/grateful shrimp). The appetizers were yummy (calamari/brussel sprouts) and the desserts were *chefs kiss* (key lime pie/pb chocolate pie/bread pudding). We will definitely be back! My aunt got a hurricane and I wish I would’ve gotten one for myself, it was NOLA quality!
We were seated immediately on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was clean as well. You get what you pay for with this place.

If you are looking for a excellent dining experience, Mud bugs delivers. The food is divine, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The calamari melted in my mouth. The best I have ever had hands down. The shrimp delight was a three in one. Bacon, shrimp and crab. My mouth didn’t know what to do with itself. My favorite was the shrimp and grits. Grilled shrimp surrounding Gouda grits. Yum! And that surrounded by the most delightful moat of cheese sauce loaded with spinach, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and grilled onions. Absolutely divine! It was a dining experience, not a meal. If you enjoy trying flavors and textures, please stop by Mud bugs in Buda and let your tastebuds sing.

We had a 4 o'clock reservation and the worst experience for our anniversary. Apparently it was during a shift change, the place was practically empty and they sat us in the back right by the table where they were doing a shift change meeting and employees were eating. It took 45 minutes to get our food and I had to send my steak back twice, and it still wasn't right

The smoldering long-range cocktail is amazing! Food was great. Service was great. Definitely worth stopping in.

My family and I have eaten here a few times and have not had a bad experience yet. We met some friend who hadn't been here before on Friday, our reservations were met on time. Service was outstanding. I think Ryland is the name of the person who helped us, his service was awesome. Great food, Fun and comfortable atmosphere. I will return again with more folk!

So we placed a reservation for 8: 15 for our anniversary dinner. This past Friday the 28th. We arrived at 8: 10 and we were told to take a seat in the waiting area, they would be with us shortly. After checking in we waited until 9: 15 for our table. Mind you this whole time we're with our newborn who is a ticking time bomb. It wasn't until we decided to get up to leave, and go to the one and only place in Buda that is consistent with their service, and that is Brooklyn's, it wasn't until we decided to get up to leave that the hostess tried to get us to stay by saying they had our table ready. When I could clearly look through the restaurant and see no empty tables ready to seat us. I'm sorry but why have a reservation system if it isn't going to be implemented well. People make reservations and rely on that time. If you have some customers there waiting for a table for over an hour past the reservation time, maybe you should offer them a free drink or something for the inconvenience. Maybe an appetizer Jeff. Mudbugs failed us in that department, first impressions is the most important. Especially for a new restaurant. Not only that, the owner, mr. Jeff who in his own words, on his mission statement for his restaurant, says he takes his customers very seriously and likes to talk with them and what not, get to know them and their story, blah blah blah. Well if that's true then maybe the owner should also interact with the people sitting up front for over an hour to get a table to eat his food. I witnessed him going from table to table and giving them his fake utmost attention, but totally ignore the people waiting up front. Knowing that everybody up here has been waiting well over an hour for the reservations, he couldn't take the time out to speak with us? We will not be going back because there's no food on this Earth worth going back to that experience again or even taking the chance that that experience might happen again. I doubt that this review will change anybody's mind that will go there in the future but just be very leery about their reservation system. And to be honest from the food that I was seeing it's all overpriced, we could over hear the table closest to us talking about the steaks, they were not impressed. Also don't order the bloody Mary. Probably the worst I've ever had, it tasted like a holiday meal, way too much clove or allspice, wasn't too sure what was added to that mix, but if it's any indication of the rest of the menu, well not interested. I'm pretty sure the rest of the people leaving good reviews on here are easily pleased and shallow when it comes to really truly judging a restaurant's worth. Mr Jeff your mudbugs restaurant was the worst experience me and my wife have had to date. We're used to Perry's steakhouse level of service and ambiance, and you have a long ways to go Mr. Jeff.

David was attentive, informative, and provided exceptional service. The Mud bugs staff are lucky to have such an awesome server. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food was delightful. I would recommend anything that is the chef’s choice. The smoked Old fashioned was great and paired well with the ribeye topped with crawfish. Oh and you can’t forget about the dirty rice! I will definitely be back and request David as my server!

I’ve had dinner at MudBugs a few time in the past three years or so but this was my first time popping in for Sunday brunch. The wait for table seating for a party of one was about 30 minutes, so I grabbed an open seat at the bar and ordered a sweet tea. It wasn’t the sweet tea that your grandmother makes and keeps in the jar but maybe that was a sign that I didn’t need the sugar, lol. I was struggling between choosing the N. O. B. S (New Orleans BBQ Shrimp) or the Grammie Breakfast…but being unsure of how spice the shrimp might be, Grammie won. They allowed me to substitute the toast for French toast and I’m so glad that I went this route. Everything was good, I watched a bit of the Patriots v. Falcons game and there was a lady sharing her beautiful vocals and guitar picking! Plenty of free parking and an overall great spot, with indoor and outdoor seating.

Went for lunch and had the salad with blackened salmon so Yummy! 8/20/23 we did Brunch! Amazing, they take pride in everything they serve! We went 9/23 and dinner was fantastic Charlie and Mike are amazing bar tenders We both had the fillets and they were cooked too perfection! I can't say enough about the coping mechanism and the Cadillac margarita that my husband loves! So exciting to see a local place focused on customer service and high quality food!

I was expecting a Joe's crab shack type of experience and was pleasantly surprised. Upscale appeal and nice for a work lunch convo! Shrimp poboy and the seafood brochetta app is amazing!

Great food. They were delayed a bit getting a server to us so they gave us a free drink which was quite nice and delicious.

First of all, don’t make a really dense bread pudding, pour a little bit of whatever milk concoction you came up with and call it a Tres Leches. This bread pudding was absolutely poorly executed and the milk broth didn’t help at all. The marinara kids pasta was so disappointing that both of my kids wouldn’t even eat them (they love pasta BTW). Best thing on the menu was the dirty rice. Brussels sprouts fried too long that the sugars in the sprouts become bitter, sauce was MIA to save those sprouts. Hash brown crusted fish, nah it was bland with mushy potatoes. Get better make it right!

Friday night young lady server was excellent in middle of the floor, she offered to throw more drinks at us, how I like it! Lol

The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding. Had the meatloaf and Brussels Sprouts, worth every penny. Even a red ale on draft. Rare! I'll come back to try the huge patio.
