Neighborhood Goods, Austin TX

What a fun mashup of a concept shop/department store. Lots of great brands here - ones that I frequently only see online. It was nice to be able to feel fabrics and test beauty products in person. I didn't have a chance to grab a drink at the bar, but it seemed pretty busy.

Horrible classist and pretentious staff. I came in on a Saturday (1/14) at 2pm to look around and was completely ignored upon entering. I still chose to look around and ended up in the Aesop section. I actually came in interested in buying some Aesop hand soap so I tried out the tester they had by the sink. A man with dark hair who I believe was Asian and specifically working in that section looked at me and treated me as if I was invisible. As I dried my hands an older woman came by and tried the same soap as well. The same man eagerly approached her and began explaining everything to her, offering her samples of other products, and being very friendly to her. Even going so far to compliment her purse and ask if it was Gucci. Mind you, I was standing directly next to the woman and he refused to even make eye contact with me. Never have I felt so unwelcome in a store. Such a shame that your staff picks and chooses what costumers they help based on their personal judgments. Very off-putting and made me leave right away without purchasing my hand soap. I’ll be telling everyone I know about this.

New products every now and then, helpful staff, well curated pieces! I love all the brands they carry

Arrived last night (Sunday) at 7: 30 PM and they were closed. It says 8: 00 PM on the door. Really disrespectful to customers time to not be open during business hours. I made a trip specifically for this store.
