Nervous Charlie's Bagels reviews
14This place gets popping on the weekends. I was little hesitant on a $14 bagel because I’ve been to New York and the best spot is not close to that price. Either way I think this bagel and the whip cheese is pretty amazing. The two hour wait time is real so order to go so you aren’t running around finding a spot. Fresh and tasty pastrami. Touche on the food.
Place is chaotic - very loud to the point you can't hear the person you're with unless you're almost yelling, standing room only on a Saturday morning, only 1 door, unclear which line is supposed to be which/most people confused. You can order just a bagel w/cream cheese on the kiosk, but if you want a sandwich you have to order through the person at the counter, but it doesn't say that anywhere. Probably fine on a warm day when you can wait outside, but not when it's cold and raining. Came here from the good reviews but wish we found somewhere less stressful for breakfast
Doesn't taste like a New York bagel like it used to when I first started going. They could use more bacon on the sandwich as well for the price you pay. I'm from New York. Bagels are also much bigger in New York.
Excellent bagels! There chive cream cheese is incredible, hand whipped in store with perfect balance. Lox is good, taste is great, but I like a thinner cut. The 1) 2 platter is our option with 5 bagels, c.c, capers, lox, onion.
Service is friendly with a smile and very helpful. Lots of patience. The online ordering and window pickup is a great option because they are always crazy busy!
Just not worth the hype. Place was super busy, which meant a 25 minute wait for my sandwich. That's fine, because I figured the sandwich must be really good. It wasn't. I got the Big Apple. The turkey tasted weird, the apples were just sitting in a wad on top, the brie was not detectable, and I had maybe one or two bites that had mustard on them. I probably won't be back.
My partner and I regularly grab bagels from this place on the weekends. The longest wait is rarely over an hour. And that’s only when everyone in Austin wants one (late mornings on weekends, like 10-12 am). Order online so fast and hop over to the most consistent good bagels in Austin.
We've been in Austin for 5 days and came to eat here 3xof those 5 days. Great bagels great cream cheese great breakfast bagel also the Italian bagel! All were extraordinary! Got the jalapeño cheese bagel each time. The garlic and herb cream chz
Service quick and friendly.
This place is POPULAR and crazy busy on the weekends. Do what we did: place your order, go somewhere else to pick up your favorite coffee and then come back to pick up. Best idea ever! Worth the wait.
The bagel was toasty and everyone on it was perfection. Loved their garlic herb cream cheese too.
Our favorite bagels in town, and their house-made vegan cream cheeses *yes, there are multiple) are a delicious option for my dairy-free wife. The lox is fantastic, as is their hot pastrami sandwich, but we like everything we've tried.
First time going there for my bagel fix, ordering was easy but next time I will have to be early because they sellout fast! My sandwich was DELICIOUS. Will be going to see them again!
I wanted to try this place after I found out about it on Instagram. I got the The Empire - Fried chicken cutlet, bacon, coleslaw, mozzarella cheese, and Russian dressing. My friend, Betty, got the Tree Hugger. The bagels were very tasty. I want to go back sometime and try a breakfast bagel.
Love to go Nervous and eat my Favorite “The Empire” even though early morning! Everything was tasty but the fried chicken was cold
“The Alexa” with garlic bagel is perfect to fit with pistachio CC.
WHolly bagel used to be number one in my book and I would have to drive 25 minutes to get down to William Cannon. And then there was Nervous Charlie’s.
As they were putting up the signage, I guess about five years ago when they first opened, I thought oy vey not another dog grooming place cause all I could see was the outlines of a beagle and so naturally yeah it had something to do with dogs. When they finally opened, I saw oh it’s a bagel place not a beagle place
Ever since I walked in and ate an authentic New York bagel, (because they get the dough from Brooklyn so they say) I’ve been a diehard fan ever since. Nobody else compares to the quality of these bagels, which are fluffy yet firm, and if you toast them, they do not harden immediately. They are perfect bagels. I’ll be at a little small if you compare it to a typical New York bagel like you would get at Zabar’s or Ess-a-bagel.
I just wish they had egg bagels, and other than that if you want the real experience you’ve got to come here
Being from the East Coast, I've been on the hunt in Austin for 7 years to find an excellent bagel. I have been here 3 times now and I have not been disappointed. The staff is friendly and the bagel is delicious. The perfect amount of cream cheese to bagel ratio and the bagel is the perfect size. Not too small where I walk away wanting another and not too big where there's tons of breading. I can't wait until their Cedar Park location opens up!
