Nickel City, Austin TX

This spot is super close to my apartment so I seem to end up there a lot, with friends especially. I absolutely love the wings.

The food is amazing, no denying that but the service…come on. The bartenders are pretty rude every time I go. Several people have mentioned the same experiences to me about that. The person checking IDs was playing a switch and barely made eye contact.

I get the chill dive bar Austin vibe but I kinda hate how the “cool spots” in Austin seem to all have pretty flat service & employees. Could be a really fun spot if that aspect was different for me.

This place is always poppin. Cocktails seem to be their jam so not much on draft. Pretty pricy but not as bad as other fancier cocktail bars that are around. Didn’t try the food but it looked like solid bar food.

Drinks are good, service left a bad impression. It was a busy Saturday night, so I take that into consideration. But when my boyfriend asked for a suggestion between the mezcal or bourbon mixed drinks the bartender just pointed at the menu, after we had already read the menu in front of him. Very rude! As a bartender, hospitality is quite literally your job and the least you can do is give a few suggestions that you like or might be popular at your establishment. The Carrot Colada was very unique. Will have to give this place another try on a less busy night, when there is a different bartender or he’s in a better mood.

Always a good hangout spot. Would recommend if you like divey bars. Good beer and shot deals. Good frozen Irish coffee. Lots of fried food at the truck, not a lot of other options. Good vibes here though. They’re usually kinda busy but have yet to have a problem finding a seat.

My favorite spot in atx. The vibes here are thing of their own: the drinks, service, food, it’s all great. The sliders are awesome, and the $19 steak is a deal. And, the Simpons pop up, very nice!

Phenomenal Whiskey selection, good vibe, service and food. Very festive for Christmas and becomes Moe's Tavern for Halloween.

What a great place I've been missing out on! Fabulous liquor selection with a TON of bourbon. My happy place! Stopped in on Father's Day, and it was busy! Talked to the bartender, and he said it was because of the holiday. I'm going back during the week to check out the non-holiday feel.

Best bar in Austin. Genuine local pub, great staff, and incredible food (I'd recommend the cheese curds and sliders, or loose burger). Chilled outdoor patio area where you're bound to make a friend every time you go. If you like genuine pubs with relaxed people, Nickel City is definitely worth checking out.

Just first class service and drinks. We’re visiting from London and we were recommended this place by bar owner friends and we were not disappointed. The bartenders are the highlight. Friendly and accommodating and really make you feel welcome and looked after. 10/10

Busy little spot. So there wasn't enough sets at the bar. The toilets were decent and clean and well stocked with TP. Too bad they use air dryers instead of paper towels.

Nickel City is the perfect blend of craft cocktails, dive bar, and neighborhood haunt. Good food, cheap beer, great drinks, fantastic people. Homer, Norm, and Young Flanagan would all feel equally at home here - you will, too.

Excellent craft cocktails and spirits including local selections. Friendly bartenders, cozy, intimate feel, tasty food truck, small outdoor patio. Great neighborhood bar.

Absolute must if you're visiting Austin. Dive bar feel; however, serves elevated cocktails and a surprisingly excellent selection of whiskey. Food truck on site daily serves up the typical bar food needed while enjoying multiple libations. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and friendly staff. Thanks and cheers y'all!

No wonder this place just won best bar in austin. We’re visiting from detroit and haven’t loved the bars downtown. We ventured a little out and discovered this gem. We’ve gone back almost every day. The bartenders are so kind and fun to chat with. The drinks are delicious and strong. The food is so delicious too! This is a bar for down to earth people. Will be missing this place when we go back home. Get the frozen Irish coffee!? ️

True Austin dive in great neighborhood by the moon tower. My go to spot for quick drink after a movie or dinner especially on week nights. Mixed drinks always on point, good prices. Also food truck out back has amazing coney dogs.

Laid back dive bar feels with killer cocktails and great people watching, a fun little slice of East Austin. Espresso martini on nitro draft! My vegan partner was excited to see that Delray was now serving impossible burger sliders (along with their delicious tots). Fast & friendly bartenders, and all my service-industry friends love this place.

Nickel City is the place to go! I love this bar because it’s casual, laid back, and has great tiki drinks. Don’t forget to try the food truck they have on site. I recommend the coney dog & loose burger

Nickel city was an awesome vibe, it was a full crowd of all ages, had amazing drinks and the bartenders were extremely kind. Justin served me and gave me great advice on drinks I’d enjoy! Will be back!
