Northwest YMCA of Austin reviews
10 Really good trainers for swim lessons and work really hard to teach kids
They really have very high patience levels as teaching and managing group lessons is not an easy task
Beautiful, clean facility with friendly staff, the Northwest YMCA offers tai chi classes, pickleball, and swimming along with a wide variety of classes. It's easy to log on to their website and see day by day, hour by hour, what is being offered. We're lucky to have such a fine place to exercise in Austin.
Overall the facility and staff are pretty good. I mainly use the indoor pool: 6 lanes, usually clean and right temperature. My only complaint is that they prioritize private swim lessons over paying members. They publish a lap pool schedule showing which lanes are designated for lap swim. But then when you follow that schedule to lap swim, an instructor comes and kicks you out so she can teach 1 person. You are basically at the mercy of private swim lessons that can show up at any time.
I love that there are lots of classes, a really clean and kept up facility and not too crowded. Plus everyone is so friendly
I liked the organization and communication regarding games, practices, etc for their sports leagues. I also like that they do the pledge before each game that emphasizes sportsmanship.
Staff here is very nice. I’ve been going here to use the showers only because of hard times. And one staff member in particular is always welcoming and greets me by name. I wish I knew her name. But (for sake of a description) white woman with long brownish/blonde hair and big smile. Works the early morning when I go is super friendly and her kindness always helps start my day off right.
I have a membership at Chasco YMCA location with financial aid. In the past I've been able to get the "member rate" at this location for sports for my son, as they are the only location with Saturday morning basketball. I just had to show my financial aid award for the other location to get this honored. This doesn't seem to be an option anymore which is sad because I can't afford the non-member rate and schedule for basketball doesn't work for me at Chasco location. In the past I felt like YMCA was good about being inclusive and offering equal opportunities to lower income folks, but maybe that just varies location by location.
The friendliness of the staff and fellow members, the facility, and, of course, the trainers and teachers.
My kids love the place, staff is really friendly and the classes are great as well. Love the sauna and the hot tub
The aquatic classes are very helpful for people like me who had to change my lifestyle and improve my health to beat fibromyalgia and chronic pain. They are therapeutic not only for the mind but the body. The instructors are a BIG plus. They each have their own personalities which adds character and depth to the classes. I'm the youngest in every class and love seeing my new found community weakly
