OBGYN San Antonio: Dr. John Kellum reviews
11Dr is great, even came back for second pregnancy because first went so well, but the office visit wait time takes foreverrrrrr to be called back! I don’t understand appointment times since we don’t get seen at appt time.: (
Dr. Kellum has been amazing since Day 1! I’ve been seeing him for nearly 10 years now. He was wonderful throughout my first pregnancy (which happened to be twins!). Every year when I go in for my annual he’ll ask about them. Most recently I was completely unaware of even being pregnant and was informed by the ER I had been seen at that I needed an emergency surgery due to an Ectopic Pregnancy. Dr. Kellum was called that same evening and without any questions performed the surgery no questions asked! I’m forever grateful to Dr. Kellum and his staff for all that they’re done for us!
I have to say this is the worst staff I have ever dealt with in my life. Dr Kellum is a great doctor but his staff is terrible on handling your appointments and sending prescriptions to a pharmacy. I’m a patient there along with my 24 yo daughter, she’s tried to make an appointment for the past month and no one ever answers the phone. When they finally answered she got an appointment, also Dr prescribed her a change of med and the med was never sent to the pharmacy. My daughter kept calling the office about her prescription not being sent but again they never answered the phone. Terrible customer service.
I just had my first appointment with Dr. Kellum and I finally feel like I'm in good hands. He attentively listened to my story and quickly came came up with a plan to treat the issues I've had since my C-section with another doctor. I am looking forward to working with him and getting some answers and peace of mind.
I have had a few bad experiences and this office is progressively getting worse.
My first bad experience was when I went to an appointment and I was told I didn’t have one, I had cancelled it. I had their card with their writing for my appointment. It turns out someone in their office canceled my appointment without calling to notify me. This wasted 2 hours of my day, and put my treatment off schedule.
My second bad experience was when I had a yearly physical and my prescriptions were discussed. I was reassured that my prescriptions would be sent to my pharmacy. When I went to pick up this prescription, it was never sent in by the Doctor Kellum’s office. I called the office on a day they were closed and left a voicemail. I did not get a response. When I called again on a business day, the nurse sent me a text response without speaking to me. When I called back again, I was told I may or may not hear back that day. I was also told that they had not made any notes in my chart in regards to the conversation and they had no record of me needing these prescriptions.
So in my opinion - if you don’t mind an office that treats you like you don’t matter and that your health or concerns aren’t worth real conversations, or noting in your chart - then go here - if you care about your well-being go to a provider that actually gives a damn. This office clearly does not. I had a more personal experience with an online teledoc doctor.
So. I was attending another ob office prior but my dr left the practice. I looked at others and said Id try Kellum. Im so grateful I did. All the staff are super nice.the girls in front Victoria, Serena, Cynthia are very friendly, helpful and sweet. The lab lady lol. Olga.so kind makes you feel at ease when shes needing lab work. Nurse Practioner Krista is amazing, sweet, so knowledgeable- she makes you feel comfortable even if you have an issue in the strangest areas.and lastly Kristas assistant. Laura again very sweet, knowledgeable, very kind hearted. Ladies thank you all for making it easier to get the worst female exam more comfortable to endure. Awesome group!

Dr. Kellum as well as his staff are wonderful. Dr. Kellum is kind and a very good listener. I always say that staff can make or break a practice and Dr. Kellum's staff is great. Kudos all the way around!
Annoyingly terrible place! The staff is not so welcoming. They go on long lunch break and they answer the phone only if they're in the mood. They are not so punctual as I have wasted my many precious hours by waiting. In addition to that I travel from far away, but always made it on time, but still have to wait and wait. You wait for 50-70 mins in the waiting room and on top of that you will have to wait another 30 mins while inside the doctor's room. The consultation in itself is no more 10-15 mins after all. One time we were late only 15 min due to traffic and the desk person shut the door on us, so why do customers have to wait for more than an hour and they cannot wait 15 min? The staff at the front desk is very rude! I wonder if the doctor knows how he is losing clients because of the rude staff at the front desk.
Dr. Kellum and his PA are great! The front desk is also very friendly and helpful, however the back staff is so unwelcoming and extremely rude as if you’re wasting their time I’ve seen the same girl three times and she has had the worst bedside manner. When you’re in a professional setting you put on a brave face and act appropriately. If you hate your job and/or the patients that come in then find a new one!
Terrible service waiting over an hour for an ultrasound all to be told she wasn’t there.no one was going to tell me I had to go up and ask. All while having my anxious toddler with me. I’ve been here 3 times each time was over 30 minute wait.
