We were referred to Off Leash K9 after meeting one of Sam's graduates of the 2 week board and train program. We signed both of our dogs up with Sam. We had one dog enrolled in the basic course and the other for a 2 week board and train.

I am blown away by the difference from both of our dogs. Since they have graduated, the house is more orderly, walks are infinitely easier, our dogs seem happier, they still have their same lovable personalities, and the best part is I feel like our dogs are even closer to us now.

Sam was an excellent trainer who helped teach us as much as he did our dogs, if not more. We are all incredibly thankful for the hard work Sam put into our dogs.

If you have a doggie, young or old, this is a smart move. My Ammo and I needed guidance adding a new husband and stepson to our lives. Every phone call to the main office was pleasant. Our trainer, Andy, had an acute understanding of what Ammo needed and ALL THE TRAINING we humans required. He was so patient with my dog-mom quirks. These folks know and are committed to what they do.

We did the four week basic obedience one on one training course for our 5 month old Cane Corso puppy in Lewisville, TX. We had to change the dates a couple of times but the company was very accommodating. Johnny was our trainer and our puppy caught on quick. He was patient and informative. He also owned a pretty active working dog so he had a lot of experience and knowledge about the type of training we needed. We definitely left the last session feeling like we learned a lot, not just our dog. Thanks!

We had such a great experience with the 2 week board-and-train with Jacob! Our Corgi puppy not only has come such a long way in his obedience, but we loved receiving videos of him learning new things and seeing how much he and Jacob enjoyed working together. We've learned new methods to communicate and engage with our little guy, and we are so excited to begin incorporating everything he's learned into the day-to-day going forward. One of the biggest things we wanted was to bring our puppy with us in public - and we are now able to, off leash at that! We highly recommend Jacob and the board-and-train program.

I used Sam at OLK9 for the two week board an train for my 5 month old Bernese Mountain Dog! Sam was an incredible and very professional trainer. Not only did he teach my pup house manners such as place, sit, down, off, come, break and to heel and walk off leash without being distracted, but he also took a lot of time to train me in how to carry over my pups training at home. Sam has also answered and assisted me several times via text or call with any issues I’m having since my pups been home, which has been incredibly helpful. My pup is a whole new dog and will carry these skills for life, all thanks to Sam! USE SAM! He’s the best!

We signed up for 8 weeks of lessons with our 1 year-old Shepherd pup. Wow. What a difference it has made! Our trainer, Laci, has been fantastic. She bonded quickly with our pup (and with us!). We went from our dog freaking out-barking, jumping-when friends came over to now staying calmly in her "place". She is already heeling without the leash WITH another dog around-and we still have 2 lessons left! Her anxiety level has decreased dramatically, while her self-regulation has increased exponentially. The bond between us is growing as we learn to trust one another. I'm so glad we signed up for Off Leash K9 Training; it's been a game-changer for our family!

Terrible!

Yes, our dog would walk off leash after this (for a few weeks), but that was short lived. He did it out of fear. This program made our German shepherd so reactive to humans. As soon as we got him home he started to bark at people. Not only did this place take thousands from us, traumatize our dog, but it costs us thousands more in getting our dog actual science backed training and behavioral health treatment to restore him.

They did nothing with our dogs problem behaviors (counter surfing, door dashing) despite telling us they would.

Our behavior vet said he isn't the first dog she's seen like this coming from Off Leash K9 that has this reactivity. Stay away, huge regret. Most people don't update their reviews or want to believe they didn't waste their money.

Just picked up my puppy Beau from Brian, the trainer.
Brian did an excellent job with Beau. He posted short videos every day of the progress Beau was making. Brian had him for a week and we couldn't be happier with the job Brian did. Definitely would recommend Off Keash K9 Training to anyone. Thanks again Brian.

My husband and I decided to finally bite the bullet and pay for training for our young Rottweiler/Shepherd mix, Jaxon. Off Leash K9 contacted us quickly and they were flexible when we asked for a male trainer. Jaxon, though sweet at home, was becoming more aggressive toward strangers (especially men) and was a nightmare when we tried to take him to social events with our friends. He was becoming more reactive to sudden noises inside and outside of the home. He growled anytime a young child was nearby. We signed up for the basic training package but the game plan changed the moment Jaxon stepped through the facility door and saw Justin. He lunged, growled, barked, and essentially tried to remove an appendage. Justin remained SO CALM and was completely understanding. It only took a few minutes for Justin to realize that the "basic training" was not what Jax needed- he would require a different approach that included the basic commands and some behavioral/reactivity training. He always went at Jax's pace. There were a few times over the course of our sessions that Jax attempted to demolish Justin but Justin never wavered or showed fear. He was always full of helpful insight and offered endless encouragement and tips during the sessions and via text. My husband and I would never consider bringing Jax out in public with strangers (except for dog parks-he's fine there?). Justin led a successful session at a dog-friendly restaurant on the outdoor patio. Amidst the new smells, loud noises, unknown humans (several men), and other dogs, Jaxon "placed" and lay down the entire time. People walked past him and no one lost an ankle. It was amazing! My husband and I have taken Jax out in public since then and he's always done well. We're able to open the door at home and Jax will stay on his "place" until we release him. He doesn't attempt to kill everyone who walks through our front door. WHAT A BLESSING. The most difficult part of training is committing to reinforce the education at home and continuously put in the work with the tools the trainers give you. If you do.you can turn an anxiety-stricken, protective, fearful doggo into a controlled and well-mannered companion. We're so grateful for Justin!

Update: I changed my review to one star due to owner response it is unprofessional to assume things …the owner Jacob responded and they have the wrong person… they are claiming I was late most of the sessions and rescheduled a lot but that is false I have emailed records of my confirmed times. Also I never took a “graduation photo smiling with my dog” that is a completely different person. Also not sure what you mean by I was late multiple times? That is false. And wdym I wasn’t ready when I was there? I was always ready and also I was sometimes early. You sure you talked to the right person and trainer? We been to lowes/ Starbucks the Lewisville dog park area to do our training and I was on time. I was maybe late one time? Also I have the text message proof of me asking our trainer her name is Laci and she was very helpful I won’t deny that and I asked her questions she gave me advice and I listened. So not sure what you mean that I didn’t spend time training my dog obviously I did since Laci complimented us on the training. What I have an issue with is my dog won’t listen unless the ecollar is on. It’s like all the training is out the window.

I took my German shepherd here and we did private lessons each week. Although she behaved great with the ecollar it made us reliant on it meaning if my dog didn't have the ecollar on all her training went out the window. It masked her behavior rather than correcting it. For example i had my door open to get groceries inside and my next door neighbor had his dog out and I don’t have the remote on me or the ecollar on my dog so she didn’t listen to me and decided to charge at the other dog and a dog fight broke out. I hoped that paying the amount of money I did it would train and correct the behaviors but it didn't.

Jacob is AMAZING! We just picked up our 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd and he is a totally different dog but still himself. Jacob kept us posted with plenty of videos and updates! We got a full agenda of what he was doing daily and everything! He truly worked with Tornado like Tornado was his own dog! Tornado got plenty of training and plenty of attention also! We highly highly recommend Jacob and when we get another dog we will 100% be going back to him! The entire company was extremely professional. I quoted around with multiple companies and this is the one that felt the most right to us! Everyone was super friendly and great to work with from the start to finish! We will definitely be going back for all any other dogs we get! Can't say enough about Jacob, he was truly amazing!

Our trainer Jacob was fantastic, and though there many pet owners with behavior problems, our is 85 lbs.of jumping happiness did not make it easy to hold onto her. Not only did he provide us the skills to help have better communication with our puppy, but we also learned we had a lot to learn in ‘how’ we communicated. We still have some areas to work on, but the patience of our trainer helped a lot.

Within two days of arriving at Offleash K-9, our one-year-old Great Pyrenees was dead. She was kept in her trainer's garage - in Texas, in August - information intentionally withheld from us.

Per our vet, it's rare for necropsy to list heat stroke as the cause of death since the exam needs to be performed almost immediately for an accurate temperature read. Our necropsy came back inconclusive, with cardiomyopathy listed as a possible contributor (as it would for almost any large breed dog in distress).

Based on this report, the condition of our dog's body, and the fact our dog was left in a garage (with 24 hours of her care completely unaccounted for - no photos or videos), our vet, and others, believe our dog died of heat stroke.

An AC vent/fans wouldn't be enough.

While we're certain Offleash K-9 will respond by expressing their deepest condolences and/or stating we were unreasonable/irrational; our dog died of natural causes; large dogs are prone to these issues; some dogs can't handle the training; we didn't provide our dog proper veterinary care; we're lying - or whatever else, we assure you it's none of the above.

If this happens to you, it's important you get your dog's body into your possession (and have a necropsy conducted yourself), since your protection under Texas Law is limited. In fact, we've since learned there is absolutely no oversight or licensing required for any of these board and train facilities.

We recommend researching Offleash K-9 more thoroughly than the 5-star reviews you see listed here (Texas State Comptroller's website, Reddit, etc.). Knowing what we know now, we certainly wish we did.

Needless to say, we do not recommend Offleash K-9.
