Olympic Outdoor Center, San Marcos TX

Great kayaking gem not far from SA. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Several guides (instructors) are available for various boat activities (I took the introductory lesson). Will definitely come back again. Thank you!

2023 update: This place has newly updated gazebos, signs, and a parking lot. Seth does a great job managing the place.

THIS PLACE WAS SO AWESOME! I have been wanting to try kayaking and this was the best experience. Ben personally took photos of us and made sure we were all okay throughout our trip, it was honestly just great and I would love to do it again!

Ben (owner) is great. His staff is always awesome and helpful. Great shaded parking and access to Rio Vista Park as well as a shaker waterfall/dam just downstream. Great instruction and shuttling services.

Ben is an amazing tour guide! He gave an extra hour on the water and said he was in no rush. His nonprofit is so INSPIRING! He works with physically and mentally wounded veterans to bring them peace and joy again in their lives. Ben is very knowledgeable and very kind!

All the stars! Ben, the owner and our personal kayaking guide for the day, took us downstream the San Marcos river. It was fantastic because it was later in the day, not as hot and super shady along most of the trip.

Along the way, Ben and his furry companion showed up so many cool ecological features. We saw cool birds, trees, and reptiles along our path. My biggest draw was that he provides tours to veterans, so I felt good about where my money was going.

Ben is a pretty cool dude. Probably one of my favorite kayak tours so far.

Still the most magical place in the world Couldn't think of a better place for our family to spend the 4th of July. Spectacular fireworks shows all around after dark.
Come and see Ben and take the day to chill and soak in the views, play in the water, bring your own or rent a kayak. There's a Groupon too Bring your cooler, kids, dog, some charcoal and a sense of adventure.

We had a blast! The boys really enjoyed themselves on the tubes, rope swing, and slide. It was a pleasure meeting the volunteers as well as the Founder, his daughter, and dog, Hercules. We had a wonderful day with Ben and his crew for my son's 15th birthday party. We loved riding in the van to drop the clear kayaks into the crystal clear water of the San Marcos River. The boys really enjoyed being able to see through the kayaks and splashing each other with the water. The guides were really patient and allowed for plenty of time to enjoy the shoot at Rio Vista Park. Afterwards, the boys loved playing in the water at the Olympic Outdoor Center. We had a lovely lunch on the grounds of the Outdoor Center (the shady area was so nice!) We'll definitely be back and rent from them again. Thanks Ben for a wonderful day!

This is the best place on the San Marcos River. Beautifully manicured river access. We got a nice spot right next to the water & were able to BBQ, dance and enjoyed the entire day. You can tell that the employees enjoy what they’re doing. The guy running the place was extremely nice, helpful and very informative about the ins and outs of the river. Everyone was very helpful, patient and understanding when it comes to special needs (I am on crutches). We were treated like family and can’t wait to go back.

Beware! The system took my money for three kayakers, sent me a confirmation email with instructions for the kayaking, and no one was present at the center. It looks like it was abandoned hastily. Not sure i'll ever see that money again.
