Once Upon A Child Amarillo

If i could give them no stars I would. I went to take a box of clean and barely wore baby clothes and they made me wait 5 hours just to only get back $6.15.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Once Upon a Child, Amarillo. The staff is super easy to work with, and very accommodating! The owner, Todd, is very involved, as well and has a great “team” feel going on in his stores. Everything is super organized and very clean. It’s easy to walk right in and find exactly what you’re looking for, and find even more than you went in for. The selling process is easy and convenient…overall a great store, and I will definitely continue doing business with them! Highly recommend!

*Edited rating due to them reaching out via phone call. I still find the sign not "misleading" but wrong. As someone who has worked in retail management, I understand promotions can be confusing, but the sign is not worded correctly at all. *

They had a promotion going on that reads "Dress sale" then says 5+dresses are $2 each. I purchased nine dresses. When I got to the car I realized I was charged $22 for 9 dresses, while the sign says they will be $2each. When I take them back in the explain I am charged $4 for the first 3, then $2 for each one after. NO WHERE on the sign does it say this. I told them that was the wrong way to do it (as it ONLY says 5+ dress are $2 each). I am highly disappointed in how rude the girls at the checkout were, and even more disappointed in how expensive things like shoes are marked. I will not be returning, and turn my business to local moms in mom groups or Poshmark.

Went to sell a wearable breast pump and a regular breast pump and some diapers, was told that they “don’t accept them”, but on their social media they have posted a wearable breast pump that they are selling and diapers that have been sold to them as well. Super frustrated.

Horrible horrible horrible! Take advantage of people is what they do. Bring in a lot of good quality items and get offered $25. Are you kidding me? Will never do business with them and will never refer anyone.

This was my first visit and definitely my last. My family has been struggling so I took some things my son outgrew to sell at 3pm. I asked if it would be a while and was told "a little" by who I found out is the assistant manager. At 530 I called to ask because i thought they closed at 6 and was told mine was next and they close at 8 so I went ahead and went up there, I needed the money for dinner so i thought "perfect". When I arrived, I saw they were still working on mine so I said "Hey ladies, I'm Antoinette Lemons but I'm gonna look around" and proceeded to walk through the store chatting with some associates about ski suites. At 615, I went to check the desk and found that it still wasn't done so I waited. One girl asked if I needed help and I said "no, I'm just waiting" realizing that the same girl who helped me when I first arrived was standing quietly ignoring me from the other side of the counter. I waited. Finally, I saw a girl take my things and set them on another counter and after 5 minutes of still not being acknowledged I asked "does that mean she's done" I was then told that it still needed to be entered in the system. Seeing the tall pile of Bins before my little bag I asked if it would even get done today and the girl just looked at me. I proceeded to ask how much longer it was going to take and she said a few hours and with it being 620 something at this point I knew it wasn't even going to be done today. The lack of professionalism and customer service led by this self proclaimed assistant manager was disgusting. She was going to let me stand there all evening without respecting my time as a patron. She has no business working with people when she can't even do her job of communicating expectations to others. I feel sorry for this business because I love it and have sold with them at various locations for a decade but I have never received such poor customer service in front of young impressionable associates. Yes. There were 6 people working and i watched 4 people check out in the 45 minutes I was in the store yet somehow they were too busy to finish timely. Not to mention I sold 10 outfits (nike, jordan, addidas.) pants with either hoodie or zip jacket and only got $53. Not worth it but I was in a bind. Beware of this location.

Update: I received the completion text message at 5: 30pm on Friday so it would've taken 24+ hours to complete the buy. Just FYI (I'm used to this process taking 20 minutes.they literally tell you to wait in the store.)

Honestly I loved the store it was my first time in there and everything was nicely organized and clean. I seen from social media so I had to see it for myself, and I will most definitely be buying from there again. But the selling process was easy but they aren’t really clean on what they’re willing to spend their money on because I bought a laundry basket filled of clothes and different variety of baby clothes but had to take almost all of it back and donate it. But other than the whole selling process the girls were super amazing and respectful and very quick. Will be coming here again!

On my point they are too high and their prices my daughter had a bunch of brand new baby clothes that my grandson not use not one time and stuff and they did low price her for clothes if that the case I think it better to donate at least the goodwill or ty thrift store sell them allot cheaper

Huge selection of clothes, I can always find what I’m looking for. I’ve saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars shopping here for my kids over the years, and the quality is good because they are so picky about what they put out on their racks!
They also frequently have great sales and awesome giveaways, and I’ve always had good experiences with the employees and customer service! I recommend this to all my friends. Kids are expensive, save some money!

Wide variety of clothes, shoes, and used baby items. I feel they are over priced for used clothes and shoes especially no more than they give you to bring them in.

I bought a used toy from here. It was $18. Included was only a monster truck arena no shovels or dirt. This sells for $24 on Amazon. I tried to return or exchange because I felt the toy was over priced for what was provided. The women at the front said she didn't know how much they sell for, but she assumed $36. I felt i was being ripped off. I left the toy to be donated. Very disappointing to see a local store I shop at frequently be so unsure of what they are selling.waste of time an money.

They have a lot of good things there. Didn't have time to shop like I want, but going back for sure. Workers are great.

Relatively busy and a little hard to find. Have had excellent customer service when buying and selling here! Would recommend for purchasing gently used items!

This place is so organized and clean! I love how everything is organized by size, then color, and then type of clothes (shirts, pants, shorts ect). The staff is very helpful and friendly as well. Some of the items are a little pricey but they are the name brand things. You can still find great deals on good quality items. I highly recommend and will be going back!

Places like this are here to help people that make not have much money to buy things for their children or child. These prices are ridiculously high. They should be ashamed of themselves. It’s used (USED) clothing and accessories. I think they should be reported. I live in another state and they have one and their prices are nothing like I seen here In Amarillo. I would give 0 starts but that’s not an option. Good day

This use to be my favorite children’s store. All the items I bring in to sell are donated and that money is donated to a variety of charities. For 20+ years, I have asked for a print out of each item with the offer price. I also ask if certain items are negotiable; for example, I had a brand new Calvin Klein puffer vest, tags still attached, for $25.00. My buy offer was. 90 cents so obviously I’m not going to sell it. I was told by the manager, Todd that his employees were complaining about me and did not have time for me. He said I thought I was special. No I don’t think I’m special, I just happen to have a Phd in Management Information Systems and I am business professor so naturally I know the system. I have never been rude or disrespectful to the staff. I have always enjoyed the staff and even brought them gifts but right now some of the staff are very unprofessional especially management.
