Oscar Store, Temple TX

We were a party of 6. We were there around 12: 30pm. I had the liver & onions, very good! Others had the Country Fried Steak, & Catfish. We were all very pleased with our orders. The service was good, we loved the atmosphere too. The prices of food & the helpings were Great!

We took my hubby to Oscar Store for his birthday dinner. There were 9 adults and 3 littles in our dinner party. I called ahead a couple of days before and even though they do not do reservations, they asked how many would be coming. When we got there they had tables pulled together so we could all be seated together. The waitress that took care of us was wonderful! She took our orders, brought our drinks out and brought our food out pretty quick after taking our order. I got a cheeseburger and fries and I have to say, that’s the first time I’ve had a burger that was still hot when it arrived! And it was absolutely wonderful! The family ordered various things but everyone loved what they ordered! I was shocked that they didn’t add the gratuity to the check but I made sure our waitress was tipped well for the wonderful service! We haven’t gone to Oscar Store a lot in the past but you can bet we will be going back more often!

Holy Cow this place is amazing! If you want a true Texas Chicken Fried Steak you can't go wrong. Delish! The Green Knight will be back the next time we have a Metal Roofing project in the area.

Cool spot close to Temple, TX. Walked in and was seated immediately. Waitress was very kind and attentive. The food was great. If you're close by, drop in!

Love this place. It quickly became a staple in our rotation. Great comfort food. Burgers, steaks, etc.

I was visiting from Dallas just to get away from the city for a few days. While had my airbnb in Temple I was looking at restaurant reviews and found Oscar Store. What intrigued me was that it was literally out in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. Why would anyone put a restaurant in the middle of no where? Not even along side a highway. Based on that and the great reviews from other customers I went on the adventure.

It was everything I had hoped and more. Friendly staff, great food, and an amazing restaurant. It is HUGE! And it is set on a nice acreage with room for outdoor events, bands, parties and more.

What a hidden gem this one. Oh yes I had the Chicken Friend Chicken with mashed potatoes/gravy and onion rings, with a home made biscuit. Left them a clean plate lol. I also bought a Oscar store t-shirt to remember the occasion.

If I am ever in the Temple area again I'll definitely stop by for another great meal.

You might be wondering why I added a photo of a bathroom stall LOL. It was such a clean and quiet outdoor bathroom, detached from the restaurant. And it's nice and cold. You could literally fall asleep in there. =)

We’ve been going here for years and decided yesterday to do a to go order. How the chicken fried chickens stayed crispy on the 15 min drive home, I will never know, but both meals were fabulous. Afterwards we both said we don’t remember how long it’s been since we’ve been here but we will definitely be frequenting more often.

It's a Beautiful restaurant with great staff and services. There food is good and at most was oneof my best experience in a restaurant.

This place is a rare find. It's not on the main path for any particular destination, which makes it even more charming as it is nestled in a quiet country setting.

Take the time to head out, slow down, and enjoy a good home cooked meal in a nice down home tyoe atmosphere.

While traveling in rural areas near Temple, Tx, we found Oscar's Store and decided to stop for lunch. The building was an old antique tin barn (by design) on the outside, but beautifully furnished and cool (105 degrees outside) on the inside. The menu was great with all my favorite Texas comfort food. I chose chicken fried steak, my wife chose a grilled chicken sandwich, and another in my party chose the hamburger. All the items were fantastic! Service was quick, and our waitress was happy and friendly! We will return to Oscar's in the future! You must try Oscar's! Plenty of parking and their garden at the front door was well kept and gorgeous!

They have one of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had! It's definitely worth the trip!

Spent a couple of days in Temple and decided to try this place out. It didn't disappoint. The restaurant was clean and cool, out in the middle of nowhere LOL. The staff was friendly and the Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Taters and Corn-on-the-cob, reminded me of my Grandmother's Southern cooking. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a family owned restaurant with good hame cooking. I enjoy the meatloaf - the sauce is special - not the standard ketchup. The onion rings are good. They serve liver and onions and my partner says it is good l. The service is always good. Also try the desserts - we always get the cobbler with ice cream.

Food was great as usual but prices are definitely going higher.
