My sweet little dog was mauled by a larger dog around 4: 30 in the afternoon last Thursday. We rushed her in and initially I was happy with the way they treated her. 21 staples to close large gashes and they cleaned out several puncture wounds. They handed me some pain meds and antibiotics and said she’d be fine although very sore and bruised. They said bring her back in two weeks to have the staples pulled. Friday and Saturday she seemed better, was eating and up walking around.

There was never any follow up, instructions for care or warnings about what to watch for. Sunday my dog started vomiting and showing signs of distress. When I called their emergency number Sunday afternoon it went unanswered and their voicemail was full. We took her to Tyler but by that time she was too far gone. She was in respiratory distress and septic. My poor baby suffered and died in pain Sunday evening.

I trusted them and now we all suffer.

Dr Alexander is a wonderful Vet. One of our sweet boys was mauled and on the edge of death. I was so concerned that with all the injuries, Jerry wasn’t going to make it. But Doc said, if there’s a bark, he had faith Jerry would pull through! Dr Alexander and his staff doctored Jerry for over a month. Jerry lived! Thanks Doc!

Dr. Alexander and his team are awesome and so very genuinely caring. Not only are they completely dedicated to the health and well being of their 4 legged patients, they are committed to customer service and absolutely value their clients. I am a loyal fan and truly appreciate the level of care, support and devotion they provide in keeping all of my pets healthy and comfortable through all stages of their lives. Thank you Team Jacksonville for all you do. You are a true blessing to my family.

So kind and caring! Thank you, Paige, for calling and checking on Skye, not once, not twice, but at least 3 times! Dr. Alexander and his staff are very attentive to my babies!

Dr. Alexander and his staff, whether in Jacksonville or Bullard, have always taken the time to visit with me about my pet (s) and whatever the problem may or may not be.

I wouldn't even consider using anyone else! They are the best.

It's always something with this place. They tell me one price, then it's always more. There is a lady at the front that acts like she is bothered you come in. And this last time, they give me an appointment for my cats surgery, and when I bring him in, they tell me that he was scheduled for a different location. Would have been nice to tell me that! This is the last time I try using this office.

Everyone is caring and wonderful. I have been taking my dogs here for over 20 plus years. And, I trust them to take care of my little Chihuahua and min pin.

I am totally disgusted in the failure to try to save my puppy’s life. We have 2 puppies who are very ill. Our first puppy has just returned from being hospitalized here. I took the other puppy to an emergency clinic in Tyler on Saturday as the vet had no time to see her. I spent $450 there and was extremely satisfied with the care and professionalism shown there. I was concerned about her on Tuesday. Unfortunately the doctor wasn’t present until the following day. The staff contacted her and let her know my concerns and Lily’s condition. They called me back and told me that I was to have her hospitalized at our local vet and they would be glad to forward her details to them. We were refused since we owed a further $400 from Sunday evening (now Tuesday) and although they were aware that our funds were in transit and would clear at 10am tomorrow they wouldn’t sway from their mercenary attitude. I am unsure if the office manager made the decision singlehandedly. I want to make clear that the other staff are polite and helpful. However this woman is the manager and is a very poor front of house and first contact representative for this vet. Her decision may cost my puppy her life. What sort of a vet would do that? I understand that this is a business, but even from a business perspective, we have spent a great deal of money here (several thousand dollars), have never left a bill unpaid, and were shown no goodwill whatsoever. Less than a days grace for an animals life speaks volumes for their lack of concern for the animals.

After paying over $10,000 in vet bills over a three month period, we attempted to intake a puppy with parvovirus for hospitalization. This vet refused to intake her as we had a outstanding bill of $400 from the previous evening, a Sunday evening when bank are closed. This action may very well cause the death of this puppy due to a one day delay in payment. After 4 months with this vet and considerable expenses we are giving up on them and find a vet in Tyler. Very disappointed in the behavior of this clinic, I believe to be unethical.

I am so angry as I write this that I'll come back and revise it when I calm down. Right now I'm on the way to a different vet! I have taken our dogs to this Our Family clinic for years and until recently we were very happy with them (as my previous review indicates). Unfortunately, this changed with the final straw being a simple request asking if Lasix came in an oral form because my dog will not swallow pills. IT DOES! I found, printed out information that there is indeed one so verified it was an approved drug and took it to the vets office asking if this would be okay.
I confirmed my phone numbers and asked for a simple text back with a yes or no. This didn't happen, I called them and was promised a call back (I just wanted an answer) but that didn't happen since I have a call log that tells me if calls came in.
I had an appointment a week later so took the information with me and was treated poorly, it's not my fault the vet couldn't be bothered to follow up, they had NOT returned my calls and responded that this was "false" to which I advised Alexander that I don't make false statements (I don't lie!) and am not into revisionist history since I had the actual hard copy of the message. I could have reached been reached by mail, actually called, texted OR given me an answer when I called the office but all I got was a promise of a call back.

When I asked that an RX be sent to my online pharmacy and am rudely told "we have to charge for that because that cost us money" (I spent $400 in vet bills within the last month and he says a fax cost him money) Wow, I dare say this is unacceptable!

When the vet declined the online order the next day I called and given the same old line that he'll call me but of course that didn't happen!

Alexander's office has an answering machine but it doesn't take messages. So, now I had the additional stress about the meds as my dog suffers and dies of CHF and was out of his medication!

My pharmacy had to call me and inform me that he declined the order and told THEM I needed to get a second vet's opinion so I called back and asked that records be sent to the other vet and was told it would be done right away. Well, that's didn't happen so my new vet didn't have them for today's appointment. BTW, the new vet is actually our old vet we have used for our other animals in Rusk. They had no getting the medications needed!

I think my view of the clinic started changing when we had a teeth cleaning done which require putting the dog under for a painful and expensive. The teeth weren't cleaned but they pulled five teeth. I was unhappy but let it go. I shouldn't have, I should have changed to a different vet back then.

All six of our dogs are rescues with a history of abuse and neglect so I am very protective of them. Needless to say when the sadistic assistant shoves a rectal thermometer in his rectum without gel causing pain to my dog and getting fecal material all over him and me I think that's unacceptable since she has no indication of being sorry that she hurt him.

So, almost two weeks of trying to get the needed medication for Casey's CHF, I did indeed get a "second opinion" and have changed to a vet who is much more helpful and has always treated all my animals (cows, goats and our four larger dogs).

I trust My Family Vet will pay the expenses due to having to obtain a "second opinion"! Where do I send the bill for the unnecessary stress and time? This has been an awful experience that should never happen.

Best vet clinic! I have great confidence in Dr. Alexander and his staff. When my pet stays overnight, I know he gets the extra love and attention he deserves.

Treat my fur babies like their own. Caring professional doctors and staff at all times. Wellness exams, sick and need to be seen, prescription refills, they have always been there for us. Highly recommend!

It's the ONLY vet-hospital in our area. My dog died there on Tuesday afternoon. He had inside bleed, and was terminal; TERMINAL.
I yet have to look at his labs, but had he been a human, he'd need only CBC, to see his blood counts before making a decision about treatment "to save his life. " And blood transfusion, which is not performed on the dogs.
We have multiple pets in our household. They just show up in our boondocks, and we take them in. We have pets misdiagnosed in this clunic and treated for something they didn't have. We had pets in terminal conditions who were given unnecessary treatments, which only prolonged their suffering. "To save [their] lives" is just a pretext to get as much $$ as possible. And Dr. Alexander does have excellent BS manners. My husband always falls for them.
Anyways, I prefer taking my pets to other hospitals if I can help it.

Dr. Alexandar, Dr. Asbury and their nurse Darlene are wonderful with our dogs. They actually wag their tails while getting shots.

Took my Doberman there after getting lacerated from a hog. They charged me $320 to sew her up. Less than 12 hours later the stitches came loose. My wife called them and they said, well maybe we should have staples her. My wife said we don’t t have another $320 to spend to have it stapled. They responded, well it will heal on its own. WOW
