This place has little to offer when it comes to help and getting back on your feet. The staff is nice.

It's a great place. 3 meals a day and clothing store plus help when you do get a place.only drawback is the bedbugs but they are constantly trying to get rid of them.unfortunately with the revolving door for the houseless it's hard to totally get rid of them.

Not a paradise, more like a bad military drill

You can't stay there all day so you're always on the move from 6 am. People steal wallets. I was harassed about my hygiene daily as if I were in a palace. They also kick people out for petty reasons. You actually might be better off just not staying here. There are parasites, and black flies harass and bite people all day. There are ants everywhere. Brownsville needs a new homeless shelter.

Bunch of bed bugs and roaches. Male staff members prey on helpless women that come in. This place is filled with people who are on the run from the law, drug addicts and tons of illegal immigrants. Im surprised the ICE and the Brownsville PD have not gotten a warrant to raid/sweep this place yet.

It was a good one people don't get it. You got to have rules no matter where you live. I helped in the in the kitchen I had a great time. Some people who stay here use their Medicaid. To go to day care and just sit there and do nothing. Some do go look for work. Some work a few day's and then go do drugs and drink. So don't blame them for your mistakes or punishment. Like ban you out. If people do what they are told they should at least stay 45 days.

Everyone was really nice to me, but be careful what you say around everyone. People decisive and lie, backstabbing. I admit i miss friends that i made there. Pros were getting meals that were good and hearty. But cons were the fact you had to wake up at 6 am every day and get assigned chores. I have watched people smoked pot in the smoking area, which doesnt allow pot only cigarettes. It was cool at night where i was with my buds just talking and laughing, even made a "bestfriend", where we went out at night and had fun. I miss all my friends, and hope to see them soon before i go off to college. But overall its a good place to stay if you have nothing or nowhere to go. If youre at Ozanam, just try to keep hopes up because things get better. Im a proud December grad of 2017, i went from a life of wrong doings to a bright future. Things get better.

Most all of people are using drugs alcohol in a daily basis even at the center they go out the community hustle their little money and come back and sleep there they say they put you on the housing list but it's all b******* that always look for reasons not to help you they give housing to pepole who are unstable and wont keep it. I watched a black guy from new york get kicked out for being drunk he actually got arrested. And. He got housing. And he moves around everey 3 months from state to state just to hustle them for emergency assistance they gave housing to one lady 3 time who only has a small income not enough to pay the rent after 3 months so she lost her apt and deposit 3 times they don't help veterans or stable pepole but if your a drug addict or alcoholic or a tropical paitent to the front of the line also they caught a guy lare at night smoking crack in the bathroom and he was naked they kicked him out that night and he was back a day and a half later like nothing no consequences or anything
