Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Houston TX

This restaurant hit on all cycles. Food, service and atmosphere were top notch. Definitely a top contender for best steakhouse in the Houston metropolitan area!

Fantastic service, food, and ambiance. The benchmark for what a real steakhouse should be.

Dining experience was phenomenal.

I was notified after leaving the restaurant that my Amex was left in the check presenter. They were soon closing and did not open until 5 pm the following day. I specifically told them I would be out of town the next day. But I would be back for it. When I went to pick up my card they couldn’t find it and said it was probably shredded and thrown in the garbage. They couldn’t give me a direct answer as to what happened or where the card went. I’m a little disappointed as I’ve visited many times and have always left content.

Oh boy… how late was I for my reservation. “Extremely” the staff was understandably accommodating. I have ate at some of the worlds best steakhouses. (Manny’s) (Benjamin’s) (Bobs) (Charlie’s) just to name few. Pappas is world class.thank you Pappas Bros… for a wonderful evening of fine dining.

Instead of a steak I had salmon. I didn't understand what the waitres was meaning when she asked "how would you want it to be made" so my answer was "not raw". It has never occured to me that someone would like to eat (half) raw fish, not even to speak of the shellfish. What I got was on steak scale called in french blue: it had seen the fryingpan but was completelly sushi raw under the quorter of an inch thick layer, also the prawns were only half cooked. I send the fish back and told that bring it back when it is thoroughly cooked. Finaly when I got it back it was ok, not dry and still reddish from the absolute midle - should have understood to say this on the first place. The taste of the fish was cood, only the prawns tasted horrible as I can't take safron - it tastes like burned rubber in my mouth - but this is not the fault or the cheff only my gentics.
Still 55$ for half raw fish file is a robbery.

The steaks my colleques ate were apparently good, but I concider the 70-80$ price absurd, thinking that it was just a fried piece of meet. The fries as side dish were not fries but wedged popatoes (they were not bad but it call the things with their true names) the fried mushrooms were soaking in liquid and were more boilled than fried.

The music was so loud that it was hard ton hear what the waitres was saying, especially as they had a lot "specialties" that were not on the menu. The noice made it also hard to discuss with my colleques.

The service was great, very attentive.
The food was really good, ribeye and New York strip were well seasoned and cooked just right. We had the Jumbo lump crab Mac & cheese and the AU grain potatoes as shareable sides.

There are times when you just want a food steak; they always deliver. The lamb was fantastic as well.

Excellent food and very attentive service. A little expensive but the experience was worth it.

I have been all over the world a few times. This place here has to be in the top 10 very best restaurants I have tried.
From the service to the food and the ambiance, it is just all 100% PERFECT.

Outstanding food and service. My steak was cooked perfectly as ordered. The skillet potatoes and creamed spinach were phenomenal.

First time dining and probably won’t be going back. As others have commented, the service is great and the food is expensive, which I expected; however, at this price point I expected better. The seasoning on everything we ordered was not to my liking. The filet mignon was salty, very tender though. The lobster deviled eggs had an almost bitter taste in the egg yolk filling. The au gratin potatoes weren’t good either, I think the cheese was too sharp for me. After our waitress hyped up their bar, I decided to try the mojito, another disappointment, it was very heavy on the lime. Needless to say, I was disappointed such an expensive meal was not worth it.

I was visiting the city this past weekend and decided to give pappas a try. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint.

Dress: Overall, it's business casual for the establishment. I had on jeans, loafers, a polo, and a thin zip up. I dined at the bar and it sufficed.

Bartender: Sharon was very attentive and knowledgeable in recommendations. A wine tasting was offered to see if it were to my liking, which was perfect on the first try. The old fashioned was delicious too. Appreciate the great service.

Food: I ordered the 10oz filet and jumbo asparagus. The asparagus was delicious and there's 8. The plate was layered with a buttery sauce which paired extremely well. It had just the right amount of crunch as well. I ordered my steak medium rare and boy was it fantastic. It was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Hats off to the chef, it made my top 5 list.

Music: Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe her name was Cindy. She did a wonderful job on the piano. I was right next to her so naturally we had a conversation in between her set. Quite the resume she has and she'll be more than happy to play something for you as well.

If you're ever in the city, pappas is a must. I'll definitely be coming back here.

I would like to give a 2.5 but can't. Steaks, did were good. Unfortunately, environment was a little too desired. Fire alarm kept going off, finally the volume stopped but the fire alarm lights flashed the entire dinner. Went home with a migraine. Disappointing.

Always delicious and the staff are superb! Great place to celebrate special occasions or just to treat yourself to an excellent night.

Jupina was such a sweet and attentive server. Everything was perfectly cooked, no companies. The manager stopped by and asked how we were as well and that was nice.

Can never go wrong with the NY strip. I tried the lobster Mac and cheese. So delicious.
