Pappasito's Cantina reviews
18 Pappasitos, I say this with love as someone who grew up occasionally going to your restaurants as a treat, and rediscovered the brand as an adult in the houston IAH airport of all places - DO BETTER. I will admit I've become a straight addict of the beef fajita nachos as ordered in the airport location - so today, as a treat for myself, I ordered the nachos, + a margarita and some tortilla soup from a more standard location. Not cheap, but to my craving mind, worth it. To my absolute devastation, the nachos in this location had literally lost every ounce of joy one wants to associate with nachos. Instead of queso, melted cheese (I understand different people differ on this - but at least give me the option) ; instead of the amazing normal chips, some kind of weird.circle.fried.situation that was soggy, thicker than the norm, and very much over-oily. Some cheese element of the cheese blend didn't feel like melting, so that was extra weird - some random stubborn pieces mixed in with otherwise melted cheese. A pitiful volume given the always insane prices (and less than I got.in a dang overpriced airport location! The airport location is now officially the value location; what kind of world do we live in).
I had to give 2 stars because as usual the margaritas absolutely don't miss. The soup was absolutely okay, I don't know that it was a 15 dollar cup of soup but it was about what I expected. But seriously, the sadness of these to-go nachos.
As a serious suggestion - if someone orders nachos to go, it would probably be a great experience if it came assembly required, and it relied on queso as then you don't have to try to get epic with melting cheese at home in a self assembly situation. This also avoids sogginess and staleness and sadness (though, nothing could've saved what I got today. Nothing.). And please use your regular chips.please. Whatever these are are not working for you at all. I hope to hear tales of the amazing to-go nachos from future reviewers.until then, I am back to an airport-pappasitos-only kinda gal.
Had the family fajita deal, and it was delicious as always. We arrived right at 4p.m. So it came out as one of the first orders. This seems to be the key to getting the juiciest, most tender, and generous portions. The rice, beans, and house made tortillas were absolutely wonderful. Not a fan of their salsa, but it isn't so bad that it is inedible.
Our waiter was this young man name Marshall, he was very good waiter, no time wasted on what the special of the day. And drinks were never empty. Hand down on one of the better restaurants in the area.
Let’s start by saying place was packed at 11: 45 am this meant place is fire. We waited 30 seconds for a group of 10 and had our table set up on no time. Waiter Issac received us with a happy attitude, was motivated and wanted to explain to us all and every question we had. Very well presentation of some of the plates and had our chips drinks and appetizers ready like a flash. Food was super good and the charro beans were of the chain straight from the kitchen.
Place is very clean and lots of teamwork at this location. Everyone had smiles and made my day walking I. Here hungry and leaving full and happy due to Great service. I will for sure be coming back here and will be recommending this place to others. Good job Papasitos 1960.
They ruined my Mother's Day. I had a reservation for 2: 30 arrived on time but due to no parking became late. We initially parked in curbside pickup and then was advised we couldn't park there. Then we rode around and finally decided to park by the bank. We arrived at 2: 44 and the lady said the reservation was no longer valid. Then she told us it would be a 10 minute for a table of 2 which turned into 30 minutes. We finally asked for a supervisor who wasn't of much help who decided to sit us in the corner of the walkway. The workers are very unprofessional they stare at you instead of greeting you. The customers were more friendly then them as one lady left she greeted me. I will never visit this location went to another location and they were much friendlier.
A bit loud, but that’s what to expect in a lively place. We ordered the medium beef and chicken fajitas for two of us, and there were plenty of leftovers for a full meal the next day. The melted butter served with the platter took the beef to a whole other level, adding depth to the flavor profile. Tortillas were great, just enough stretch and warm and tasty. Also, my toddler had the mac and cheese; surprisingly delicious, not just for kids, enough flavor to please a discerning adult palette.
I have never had less than exceptional service and food and I've eaten at 4 out of the 5 they have in the Houston, Humble area. Humble at 1960, and the now 69 freeway is always a treat. It is a bit on the high side due to our choices, but you can eat well and take enough home for another meal. It is the best Mexican/texmex food I've ever had. Five stars all the way.
What a great late lunch/early dinner. We had just finished a long day and was thinking about a good margarita. We had grande reserves and they were as tasty as I imagined. Chips and queso wuth them freshly frying some flour tortillas for my wife as she is allergic to corn. Excellent flour enchiladas suiza and Pappasittas grill. We took home 1/2 for a late dinner. Great food, great drinks great service.
6/2/23- if the damn place isnt already loud, now they have mariachi's. You have to YELL at the person sitting across from you at the table!
Food was great! Wait staff was left to be desired. Slow, like they had ADD and couldn't focus!
Pappasito's is by far the best Mexican food restaurant in town, and the Humble location is probably our favorite. Very consistent no matter the day or crowd. Service has always been good or great. I don't know this, but I'd guess it's been managed by person (s) for several years now. We love it.
Great service! JJ is an awesome server! Loved the floor manager that was working as well on 5-27-2023.they took very good care of our family. This location is off the charts when it comes to customer service.
The restaurant has been remodeled for covid safety measures. Staff was attentive and courteous on our seating request. We did not need to hunt down our waiter for anything. He did anyone amazing job keeping drinks filled, chips full and tortillas flowing. Great job management team and staff.
Great service and clean restaurant. Delicious food and drinks. It was Mother’s Day and busy yet we still had super attentive service. Yummy meals and salsa and chips. The only thing that could have been better was the guacamole. But overall really good.
Pappasitos has been our favorite Tex Mex for 25 years now but it’s not as good as it used to be. The food still tastes good but the portions are smaller, the prices are much higher and the $12 margaritas don’t taste as good. Too tart now. Plus they have done away with Happy Hour. On the plus side it’s not as crowded any more but has definitely lost it’s attraction for us unfortunately.
AMAZING experience! Of course the food and drinks were as wonderful as always, but the service was ABOVE and BEYOND as we arrived (calling only a 10 minutes ahead of time) with a high school lacrosse team - hungry after a HUGE playoff game. This staff hustled to get us a place to sit all 30 players and coahes and the parents in charge of paying!:) The front desk was as kind as can be giving options and not a drop of a smile as we thought threw it all - so patient and kind. On the spot, we came up with a simple menu of family style all chicken and beef fajitas with the fixings down the long table! We had to add the famous queso for all and tortillas! The boys devoured the food and we were asked if we wanted to add more - of course we did, and it came out immediatly! Drinks of water and sodas were always filled and we were all asked if there was anything else they could get us. When asked about dessert - they brought out huge family style desserts for the boys to enjoy! There were a few leftovers we were able to box up for the bus driver and the staff brought us fresh chips and salsa for the driver - and made sure we had to go silverware for him! SO KIND! The staff was patient and as helpful as can be! All smiles - even with a huge table of boys ranging from silly freshman to mature seniors! Thank you for making this team meal, after a loss, such a good experience! We always love to take people to Pappasito's - but this impromptu HUGE group meal on a Saturday around lunch time showed all the more why we love Pappasitos! The boys left with full stomachs and probably slept on the bus! As a parent, we left happy knowing our boys did not want for a thing - they were tended to for anything they needed - we were too - and all with a smile! I hope the crew of purple shirts and managers (everyone was working and all with smiles) got a little rest when we left! Thank you all for a WONDERFUL experience!
Look, it's expensive, and the food is okay but not worth the 50% mark up. I've had better fish tacos and an Irish pub for 12 bucks. Service was good the restaurant is clean and nice atmosphere it's just to damn pricey.
Roasted tomatoes and peppers with chips, amazing flavors to start. The chicken was not grilled with onions or peppers but was roasted and good. I ended with Tres Leches. It isn’t on my diet for good reason but it was excellent!
Our waitress was spectacular and made our visit most enjoying. The watermelon margarita was delicious even though it was on the strong side (can’t be mad at that). The shrimp and ribs were so delectable with the ultimate flavor. Overall, Thai was a lovely establishment and I will most certainly be back.
