Plato's Closet - West San Antonio, TX

If you’re hoping to get a lot of cash at this location, you won’t. They low ball like crazy and are way too picky with taking clothes. They say stuff is out of style but then you see some stuff on the racks that are atrocious! The line is always long and the spacing in the store is horrible.

They are very picky on only what they want.

Even if the clothes have tags on them they don’t tend to buy them. They low ball you on majority of the items. It’s best to sell your items at a garage sale or selling app.

A few of the clothes I tried on had a very bad smell of cigarettes.

No restrooms to the public or customers. So if you plan to go through everything go before or just DON’T shop there at all.

Long line for registers and it’s hot inside the store.

At this time July 2023, they are only taking one bin.

When i give them clothes to sell i give them my bags nicely folded clothes and when i get it back my bags are ripped and mess, the clothes are just thrown sloppily back in there

I’ve found really good pieces here and they are pretty organized compared to other Plato’s BUT they definitely do low ball you when you sell clothes on top of that let’s say they have an item priced at $12 brand new with tags on and you search that item online it’ll be cheaper online at $6 than what they are selling it for … & they don’t price match so they’re basically doubling the price than what you could’ve gotten it elsewhere and it makes no sense considering it’s a thrift store…. Your suppose to be coming here for good deals not to be scammed.

Unpleasant experience. One employee was helpful. However, she was busy pricing items, and we got stuck with an employee who seemed as if she put 0 energy into her job. Extremely poor customer service and walk thru of the process to drop off/sell items. There were crocs displayed for sale with dog hair, dirt, and grass in them. We won't come here again. I highly encourage you to reconsider this location and reading the reviews.

Great experience every time I’ve been in to shop or sell! They took a decent amount of items off my hands for a good offer in my opinion

Cashiers are very friendly and they were the best. But as i was waiting for my buy i was looking at the guy who was going through it and he did everything so sloppy and slow.he was throwing whatever he wasn’t taking and barely looking at it. I saw some clothes still folded in my bins and that was the stuff he didn’t actually look at, whatever he did look at he threw back into the bag. But he had got excited when he saw somebody bring in some stained carharrt cargos lol. I don’t recommend selling here, I definitely recommend the Plato’s on 410 they are more lenient with clothing and actually go through everything thoroughly

If you’re planning to sell your clothes here, I’d always recommend calling ahead to check if they’re at full capacity. As usual, selling is a hit-or-miss.

Also, I find it inconvenient that there are no shopping bags available. However, an employee offered me one of their black store boxes since I was carrying a big pile of clothes in my arms and held it for me at the front. When I retrieved the box to try on the clothes, I was told to only bring in 6 items at a time. But I ended up bringing the whole box in because it could’ve been easily mistaken as unclaimed merch by another customer if I were to leave it outside my fitting room door. It would’ve been easier to hang the extra clothes outside the door, but there were mannequins in the way.

I prefer the location on Bandera/1604 because they’re much friendlier, not as picky with buying clothes (in my experience as everyone’s experiences could be different!), have a better fitting room system and have shopping bags.

Waste of my time. Was told my clothes weren’t washed when they were? Left with no offer and was disappointed to see the high prices on clothes that were sold online for cheaper AND brand new.

Nice clothes but the Staff is dressed unprofessionally, it was obvious that one of the girls was obviously not wearing a bra and another girl looked like she was only wearing a sports bra.

This is the best plato’s closet i’ve ever been to in san antonio. They had so many good items! It smelled great in there, well organized, and all the employees were so nice. I definitely will be coming back again and again.

Waste of time going here. Staff weren’t the friendliest, and after waiting an hour for them to give me an offer on my clothes, “unfortunately” i received no offer.
Goodwill and Ross are better bets if you’re looking for good used clothes.

I was just there the other day looking for some second owned renaissance ware. I was super lost and did not know where to start. Until one of the associates came over and asked if I needed assistance. It was none other than Ms. Violet. She stayed with me while I tried clothes on, helped lace up a corset when I did not know how and brought me many options I did not even think to try. She helped me out an outfit together and at the end of the experience I walked out with lots of options thanks to her. She was amazing and I will be returning soon to ask for her help again. Thank you again Ms. Violet for making that experience a carefree delight. 10/10 would recommend this location.

I love coming here to find cute summer dresses! The clothes are always in top condition. Every time I come, I find an item with its original tag attached, and the prices are always reasonable. I highly recommend this place

Very rude staff! Had a lady that was short with long brown hair helped me at the register today and she was giving me a lot of attitude & slamming everything around. I don’t know what her problem was but she needs to get that fixed. I do not recommend this place at all because of the staff being rude for no reason. Grow up please:)

This is a higher end thrift store. Mostly women's clothing, but a small men's section as well. The store is organized well by size, and the fitting rooms are spacious. Employees are friendly and helpful.

I went in to sell a few items and I was helped by Violet. She was very professional and made my experience very pleasant. This store is by far the best I have been to in all aspects. I drive out of my way every time to go to this location.thank you violet for reminding me how much I love your store!

Initially helpful sales staff. The store racks were organized and tidy. Marissa, the manager, was less than courteous when I decided to remove one of my items for trade. When asked about the incorrect math, she made no attempt to explain or correct the transaction. Yes, the store was busy but not an excuse for poor customer service! Plato disappointed this time!
