I LIVED AT PROMISE HOUSE WITH MY TWIN BOYS. AND WHILE PREGNANT! I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THE STAFF HAS DONE FOR ME I GREW GREAT BONDS WITH ALL OF THEM, ESPECIALLY MY CASE MANAGER MRS. TAMEKA SHE HELPED ME WITH SO MUCH AND CONTINUED TO PUSH ME TO BE THE BEST SHE KNEW I COULD BE I STILL HAVE WORK TO DO ON MY SELF BIT IF IT WASN'T FOR ALL OF THEM ID STILL BE IN THE SAME SITUATION I WAS IN BEFORE I WENT TO PROMISE HOUSE. I LOVE THE STAFF THERE HARD ON YOU AT TIMES BUT ITS NOT HARD TO FOLLOW A FEW RULES ITS THE CLEANEST PLACE/ SHELTER IVE EVER BEEN IN, U CAN PREPARE MEALS OR SOMETIMES THE STAFF DOES AND WHEN I SAY THEY CAN COOK THEY CAN COOK. MY KIDS ARE IN DAYCARE IN WORKING WHILE 6 MONTHS PREGNANT I HAVE A DEPENDABLE LIVING SITUATION AND JUST GOT MY OWN TRANSPORTATION. THANKS TO ALL THE STAFF AND GETTING ME WHERE I AM TODAY I LOVE YOU ALL.

I Stayed for 2 months helped me get an apartment. It clean, nice and very loving staff, they make you feel like you’re at home. Helped me actually put my kids on a schedule and learn how to manage my time properly. Just building me into a stronger woman and confident mother over all love the promise house n staff

When I was here 3 months ago everything was fine at first but then me and my roommates started recieving blatant disrespect from the staff. We informed our case manager ms Crystal but she manipulated the situation and said that me and my roommates were in a pack and tried to blame everything on us she was being very biased. Couple days later she tried to give me a violation for no reason. She also yelled at me because one of her staff lied on me stating I was disrespectful in the morning time which wasn't true ms Crystal also yelled at me in the morning time when I was on my way to work. I informed higher up all they did was cover for her when she called me to sign paperwork she said that she feels I didn't need to be there because I was in college had a job and a car. This place is nothing but favoritism and disrespect. Before I left they had new staff there so hopefully whoever now comes won't receive that same treatment me and my roommates had received.

I actually hate this place. I came here as a teen and it actually ruined my life. I know that sounds like a bit of an exaggeration but they totally separated me from my childhood friends and even family. I remember crying and i was treated really badly by a (Jamaican) counselor. They took my close. They humiliated me in group sessions. We were all different ages and in different grades and we call went to school together. Im so surprised this dump is still open. I always vowed when i got older I would warn parents to NEVER take their child to this place or any place similar to it. I see it says they are only taking young adults 18-24 and they should have NEVER taken teens in the first place. My mom was literally abusive and put a gun to my head. When I reported her to a counselor she said i felt my mother owed me something. Like what? ! I’m sorry i had to experience this at the time but with that being said i really hate this place.

I came telling them I was struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts and when I had a mental breakdown they forced me to go to the mental health hospital and left. When I was released the lady wouldn't let me in saying that since I was admitted I wasn't allowed to stay. Since there was no place for me to go they let me stay the night and said they would give me 3 days to find somewhere to go, the next morning she told me to grab some things and I had to leave. They said they would keep my other belongings until I was able to get them some place since I was short on money, when I was finally able to get my stuff they wouldn't answer my phone calls or text. Months later I get a text saying that my stuff was gone and they wouldn't tell me where my stuff was. I'm talking clothes, documents, shoes, personal belongings. All just gone. No matter times I try to get someone on the phone they don't answer. I feel like I should report them or something.

Very disappointed! The Promise House scholarship is not available to former residents no matter what is stated. For three years, calls and emails go unreturned. Board members, the president and staff have been unhelpful. I will go to the City Council next.

I was recently at promise house because my family and I got into an altercation. I’m less than 2 weeks I got a job and began working. It was round March so it was literally 100 degrees outside and I had to walk to (and sometimes from) work. The place I was working at was being very unfair due to my pregnancy and would have me just up and walking after I almost passed out from the heat. I told one of the case managers about the situation and the MANY before that. I ended up getting fired for leaving after almost passing out for the 2nd time.
Then more girls started to come and I had got an interview with Tom Thumb I think, and one of the case managers decided to go in and get the other girl an interview right on the spot. I voiced my opinions on the matter to her boss and she said” yeah I completely understand why you are upset. You worked hard for that interview.
Fast forward a couple of weeks im still getting up and leaving at 7 AM going to the library looking for jobs and also trying to start school. As soon as I hand the case manager my job application form I’m told I need to leave. And when CPS came into the picture they told them they didn’t know I was in extended foster care. Even though I asked if my CASA worker could come. And one of the case managers actually talked to her.

And then lied to their partnering bridges. So now me and my daughter are homeless once again

0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Also Bella house in Dallas tx is also a NO GO! Rude staff and great amounts of favoritism.
