Robert Hagood MD, Dallas TX

Same problem since 2009. Refuses to fix it. Problems with staff are not going to fix themselves.

I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor than Dr. Hagood! He’s extremely thorough and made sure I understood the entire process before surgery. I’m grateful he kept me in the hospital under observation to ensure all was well. In addition to my stay, he came to check on me everyday and if I had any questions or concerns he took care of it swiftly. There was no way I could’ve managed recovery at home the first several days. Literally every nurse that cared for me spoke highly of Dr. Hagood! I’ve already recommended him to friends or family that may have the same or similar issue as I had. Thank you so much!

Dr. Hagood is an unethical physician at best and puts his own interest ahead of his patients. Scheduling an appointment was already very difficult to deal with where the staff was not responsive and wanted too much information that is unnecessary from any perspective and is a security risk. It was already very clear what I needed (from my regular physician's exam) and I just needed to go there to get the surgery scheduled. Anyway, when I visited the doctor on Monday, all he told me is that there are two ways to do the surgery, open method and robotic, which obviously most patients already would know. Due to COVID-19, none of the robots are available for surgery and he tried to give me a sales speech on why open method is equally good and I should go for it. He even gave the example "Whether you go by train or by flight, eventually you reach the same destination. " Well, the difference is how fast you reach. The recovery time difference is at least 3 to 4 times more in open method vs robotic. When I asked when he came to know about the unavailability of robots, he said Thursday and my appointment was on Monday afternoon. When I asked why none of his staff informed me about this changed situation, he had no answer and he told me that if I wanted to go to another surgeon, I could do so, which of course I can. And he billed $500 to the insurance company for this, out of which I had to pay $80 copay and waste an entire afternoon of my work day. I have been in the service business for 20 years where we always put the customer interest ahead of our own, but it seems that is not the case here. I would not trust this physician by any means. I was thankfully able to get the appointment with another surgeon scheduled who scheduled my surgery (robotic) promptly and I have almost fully recovered. After Friday surgery, I was able to go to work for the whole day on Tuesday onwards, but if I went with this physician, I would still most likely be in bed almost a week later.

At the initial visit, Dr. Hagood explained everything concerning my issue - what it was, how it could be repaired, what to expect at the Hospital, what to expect after surgery and how to handle recovery after leaving the Hospital. Everything went even more smoothly than I anticipated.

Dr. Hagood took his time with me and answered all my questions! I highly recommend him if you need a hernia operation.

Dr. Hagood and his staff are both friendly and extremely professional. They answered each of my questions and listened to the extending circumstances. I really appreciated their care.

I am giving two stars now. But will see if it has to change later. I am a new patient. I have been trying to get an appointment with Dr. Hagood for the past one week. I have done everything possible. My PCP has sent the referral to their office already. I have called the office multiple times trying to get hold of Jessica who is supposed to set up the appointment. She is never at her desk and will never return calls. The voice message says "not to leave multiple messages as it may delay processing the calls" or something like that. People leaving multiple message means you are not on top of things, and they are not hearing from you and are trying to get your attention. I have even tried to use their online system to make an appointment with Dr. Hagood. Someone did contact me after trying the online appointment, but whoever contacted me was not the person directly responsible with setting up the appointment. They just forwarded me to Jessica. I don't know Dr. Hagood because I have not met him yet. He may be good as some people rate him. And my PCP speaks highly of him. But his support people for sure are not good enough. I will probably have to fish for another surgeon. The longer I wait to see a surgeon, the more my condition will worsen. What a broken system we have!

Excellent experience. Everyone in the office was kind and helpful. Dr. Haywood is wonderful. He takes the time to explain everything and answer all questions.

From being admitted thru the ER all the way thru my discharge, 3 days later, I can’t find one thing to complain about or critique. To be in a hospital is the worst in any case, but the way I was treated and the staff I was in contact with, did not make this feel like a hospital stay at all.
I HIGHLY recommend Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and particularly the staff on 4Main- east and west.

Dr. Hagood is caring and takes the time to answer each of my health concerns, frequently beginning his response with "That's a good question. " He is thorough, competent, calm, and reassuring, and I feel confident in his care. I highly recommend him.

Nice clean offices, waiting rooms, and exam rooms. The people that work were all really nice. Doctor Hagood is easy to talk to. And he listens to what you have to say and you can discuss the pros and cons of what needs to be done. He has done one surgery on me and one on my brother. And might have to do another one on me in the future. I would highly recommended Doctor Hagood, if you need any kind of surgery.

Dr. Hagood is a very good doctor. However, my appointment was over an hour before I was seen by him.
