Signed my kids up soon as the registration open and they didn’t get picked I had to email them and find out they didn’t get picked but they said my kids could come do drills sometime like really what are the qualifications for a child to play soccer I thought this was just a friendly lil soccer game but no! We didn’t even get a interview or a call only to send multiple emails and voicemails to find out my kids didn’t get picked

I love the Rowlett Youth Soccer Association.
In our 1st season, I too was asked to coach. I was a bit hesitant, but I am so glad I did. I've really enjoyed coaching and helping them improve their soccer skills. I've loved watching them grow and develop friendships with their teammates. As in most volunteer positions, you get out of it what you put into it. It has been incredibly satisfying and we are making memories that our family will cherish for the rest of our lives. Being able to set practice times and locations is a plus too.

We are about to start our 11th season with RYSA and they have been great. They have skills night for the kids and coaching resources for new and experienced coaches. Youtube is also a wonderful resource to make everyone think you're an awesome coach. This is rec soccer, so it is less competitive (and less expensive) than the club leagues. RYSA is geared towards fun experiences for the kids and developing their skills.
RYSA is a non-profit that depends almost entirely on volunteers. These people have jobs, lives and families outside of RYSA and often volunteer with more than one organization. Some have kids that are grown, but they still volunteer because they care about their community. Unfortunately it is often difficult to get people to step up and volunteer for their kids activities and their community.

It's disheartening seeing people whine online every time they have a bad experience somewhere instead of giving people the benefit of the doubt, especially during these strange and challenging times. We never know what people are going through in their lives.

Don't bother. The people in charge don't have the time or attitude to run this league. A lot of us left and went to Y in Rockwall.

We signed our son up for soccer and received the attached email from the person in charge of his division with a deadline to respond. I responded with questions and never got an answer back about what the availability of a coach and skill level (since we have none lol) would need to be. I didn't get a response about whether or not coaches were still needed, answers to my questions or even if my kid made it on to a team. So I reached out several times before I got an answer. I got the reasoning from Bernadette (who also happens to be the President of the association's wife, so I'm guessing she gets to say what she wants without consequence) that she doesn't have time to respond to emails, even though she asked for a response. I tried to tell her its frustrating that we pay all of this money for registration fees and get our kids excited to receive zero communication when we're told that our kid may not play. She cut me off before I could even finish my thought. I asked her to please let me finish and she said "No. I don't care that you're frustrated. Are you going to coach or not? " I asked her what we need to do about getting a refund. She said, "Call Tina, " then hung up on me.

PARENTS- JOIN AT YOUR OWN RISK! Your kid may never play and the people in charge don't care.

Bernadette is the most outgoing and caring individual i know. I keep asking her and always wonder why she is so into RYSA and every time she tells me its because she loves seeing the smile on these kids faces. We have a good organization we really do, and each and every one of these members are working hard to keep it together. I started out as a player for RYSA and i just loved it. Now i am playing competitive soccer for a D1 league.
I just want to put out there that this is NOT a negative group, nor would they bash you or take a disrespectful stance. They encourage people to come out and coach these kids.
As many smiles as i have seen i doubt that these members “don’t care”.

This is a really great soccer program i’ve meet all the employees and they are really nice and super helpful! You should definitely sign your kid (s) up for this soccer program. Coaches are very great with the kids and they all love them so much.

This organization is a monstrosity. The only helpful person that works there is Dee. 2 stars for Dee.
The people in charge only like people that have lived in the community for a long time or are already established players. We're new to the city and haven't heard anything good about this organization from several people.
Everyone keeps mentioning Bernadette, but she solicited a bunch of reviews from friends, neighbors and other people from Facebook. I'm sure Google will figure that out pretty soon as they usually do and shut the page down. Or just smart people that read comments will.

We have been with this oragantion since my son was 3. Unfortunately the last 3 seasons has been plagued with drama and discourse. My son has been on a team that simply demolishes the competition, and as such our team has been on the negitive recieveing end of disgrutal coaches flabbergasted parents. So much so four diffrent teams forfeit games because they were scared to play. I do not know what this teaches kids or the mind frames of the coaches that feel like there teams are inadequate. The kids all start on same playing level maybe its the coaching thats at fault. We will find a more competitive soccer association as we feel black balled simply because our team was so dominating.
