SALT - New American Table, McAllen TX

Absolutely no critiques, this place was amazing, the drinks selection is *chefs kiss* and the food is lovely. Don't skip the desserts!

First time there and not disappointed. Went for gathering with co-workers. Aside from the great company, the food was fantastic. I had the fried chicken w jalapeño mash. You need to try it. The ambiance was great too and the service was awesome.
If you haven't been there, give a try. I recommend the fried chicken.

Salt is a Veale favorite. We love going on Tuesday nights to unwind. The Salty Dogs and Shishito Peppers are the best!

Like eating at your relative's house you didn't know you had, you'll feel welcomed and comfy in at ease atmosphere. Service was superbly attentive without being overwhelming. Food, as expected, was perfect.

Chef Victor Montoya is amazing! I highly recommend Monday happy hour. Sit at the chefs table. Amazing food, amazing service. Share everything.

I was gonna give it 2, but I feel bad. - Nice place, great service, food not so GOOD. I ordered the fried chicken, with Mac and cheese, my husband ordered the pork ribs… and i have to say- that the mac and cheese had good flavor, but the pasta was raw. Cane’s chicken, and McDonald’s Mcribs are way better than what we got at salt. Sad, but true. I do recommend you try Salome and House Wine & bistro instead they are owned by the same person and have way better food.

The ambiance is very nice, cocktails excellent. My friend and I ordered the fried chicken per the waiter recommendation. Both of us agreed it needed something extra, like side of gravy or even Louisiana hotnsauc because it was too dry. Once the waiter brought the gravy I would say the taste definitely improved. Price is pretty high so I would expect better taste for the price point.

Impressive fried chicken and Mac cheese lightly coated, moist, deliciously seasoned. The service was top notch, friendly, comfortable inviting setting. I will return to try additional menu items. Thank you Salt! Keep up the great work.

Wow! Don’t walk, run to this restaurant! The food and service were excellent. I had the biggest, best tasting pork chop I’ve ever had! Their take on ribs and fried chicken were standouts. I’m looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Crispy Pork Shank was delicious. Meaty, fatty, salty. I could it eat it once a week. I hated the fact it was served with pancakes and syrup. Basically a pork version of chicken and waffles. I had never heard of pan de campo before but I won’t forget it now. I would revisit but would have to substitute the pan de campo for something else as I don’t like to mix salty and sweet. I thought their private barrel could’ve been smoother too but appreciated the fact they have one.

The area has all around good food, and this spot didn’t disappoint either! The Ahi Tuna was perfectly cooked and like butter. Slightly topped with black and white sesame seeds and surrounded by a puddle of what only would could think of is teriyaki and soy sauce.at the least.from the appetizer to the entree to desserts. It was phenomenal. Add on the great service, this place is top tier. Awesome job!

The food is delicious, but our dining experience left a lot to be desired. The menu is interesting; the dishes are unique and flavorful. Though I enjoyed everything I ate, our steaks were not cooked correctly and our drinks weren’t what we ordered. Also note that the restaurant is not ideal for an intimate meal. It is crowded and can be loud. I would give it another chance since I enjoyed the food.

Good, but a bit overwrought. They try too hard on some of their dishes, whereas if they reduced the number of ingredients and made it a little more simple, and made the portions a little larger, it would be an enhancement.
