6I Don’t know how it has a 4 star rating, they must be paying for good reviews. This course is really bad.
It's a great course for a municipal course. The price is fair, staff is helpful, and the fairways are pretty well taken care of. It has some flooding issues in rainy season on 3 fairways and the greens could use work. I've golfed there 15 times or so this year.
I played Sammons back in March and was mot impressed at all. I gave them another shot today and I was shocked at the improvements. Fairways had greened up and were much more plush. There was a defined rough that didn’t exist in March. The greens were terrific, nothing at all like March when several greens had bare spots. The back nine had been aerated recently and were just a tad bumpy, but overall they rolled true. Green fees are low. My only complaint is poor signage between some greens and the next tee. If you don’t know where you’re going, you may get lost. But for the money, this is a terrific track, with lots of water and challenges for all.
I really enjoyed the course. They do a good job of maintaining it. Bring your own water. There is no water on the course.
Great course, and friendly staff! I live in Waco, TX.and would rather drive to Temple to play a round of golf than to play in Waco. Great job Sammons!
Just waited on my brothers to finish playing here. From the looks of it, though, the golf course looks clean and beautiful.
