Second Baptist Church, Woodway Campus, Houston TX

I'm going to be very careful with this review. I don't want to overstate or understate anything and some issues are more due my realization that I lean more towards a liturgical, high church setting and found I hold differing views on the perseverance of saints. With that said, this church might not be for everyone. If you like contemporary services, access to cafe goods before and after of find that your kids benefit from a great choir or other youth programs then this place is amazing. The members in the collide class were quite friendly and there is a lot going on there during the week. They also offer services in Spanish. With that said, if you prefer a more liturgical service then you'll be quite uncomfortable with the 11 o'clock service and the earlier, more traditional one still might not quite cut it. There's also the crowd size. Friendly as most people are, the size of the congregation may make things feel a bit impersonal. There was also a bit of pressure to commit that day, which may well have just been my impression of it. A few final notes, the pastor, Ed Young, is very vocal on his thoughts on local and national issues. I don't find this an issue personally. I even agree with him on a fair number of them, but keep it in mind. The campus is beautiful and fun to explore a bit, but be mindful of the construction sights. Parking can also be a problem on Sunday. I'll clarify one more thing. I don't think the rating system here actually does justice for this kind of thing. I posted 3 out of 5 due to feeling like a 1 would indicate that this church failed and a 5 would send the wrong message for others finding Christ again. A 3 still feels off, but it was the closest I can get to conveying my thoughts at a glance. So, to end this long winded rant, Houston second Baptist is great for those looking for a laid back contemporary services, semi traditional services, plenty of mid week groups and various youth programs. You might not like it if you need a more high church, liturgical setting and don't like heavy crowds.

At a free baby play time for moms. Lots of babies and some expectant moms playing with their babies. In the indoor play palace. You don’t wear shoes. Socks only. My baby loved it. Bathroom down the hall but you can’t leave your kid unsupervised in there. You have to sign up to get in cause there is a max limit. Coffee shop outside is cute

So glad 300 of your kids came to Portofino in Pensacola Beach. It is built and run by a well known Biden Supporter family and democrat judge here. Just a couple of weeks ago, the also celebrated pride week. A worldwide party for our LGBTQ plus folks! Thanks again. Vote!

So-called Doctor Young spews anti-"woke" rhetoric. Yep, a "God fearing" person glorifying divisiveness. Just what Jesus praises doesn't he? This man is only interested in your dollars.

My favorite place to nurture my spirit and assist every Sunday. They have great programs for the children and the bible study classes for everyone are excellent.

Great place for kids to be a kid. Really fun for children. Super great environment and has super nice staffers. My grandbaby loves going here and she gets extremely excited upon entering the play area.

After many years I finally moved on and now all I’m left with is a hefty load of self-hatred that I’ll spend the rest of my life deconstructing. Save yourself and your family and find a church that is built on kindness and compassion and love. The sermons here sound pretty but are loosely aligned with the Bible and heavily propagandized. Find a church that would make Jesus proud. I spent years thinking I was the problem and hating myself for it. Run far away and don’t look back

James 1: 9-11 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

When I was recently divorced, I felt lonely. I went to The second Baptist church In search of comfort. I enjoyed the message in the sermon. I learned they had a singles meeting and went the following week. There was a small group of two men and a few ladies. About 20 minutes into the meeting the gentleman in charge told a story about a encounter he had with the devil. At the end of the story he described the devil having a black mustache. Everyone looked at me because I was the only person with a black mustache. I went to the Sunday services the following week and heard another good sermon. As I got up to leave, two men stopped me and said “you were here last week”, you will need to become a member before you can come back.

Lesson learned. Fake

We were visiting family and went to the candle light service. It was absolutely wonderful.

Hello Everyone! My name is Valentyna Dolog and I am from Kyiv, Ukraine. When I saw the church I liked it from the first view. It's really great! While volunteering there like a train host I had an opportunity to get known people of the church. And I liked them very much. But I am here to write what happened to me after that. I was invited to a Second Baptist Church University Model to work with kids. I was happy to accept the offer as I have always been a teacher in my country Ukraine. Besides it was not good for me to come back to Ukraine as my country was attacked by Russia. In the beginning of August 2022 Beau Dollins, director of SBSUM, told me that in August they didn't have a job for me till the 7th of September. So I asked them if I could go to Ukraine for that period. And he gave me his permission but warned me to be at school in time. So I came back on the 6th of September and appeared at work on the 7th of September. I worked that day and in the end of the day I was told by my boss Lindsey that from then it's my constant place to work with kids of 3-4 years and I had to be there on Monday, the 12th of September at 7: 30am. I came to work that day at 7: 30am and while I was cleaning the room preparing it for the working day a nanny by name Dalila appeared bringing other woman (she was a newer) and told me that it was not my working place any more. The woman she brought was gonna work there. After that I had a talk with Beau Dollins and my boss Lindsey and they told I had to warn them about my departure to Ukraine (?) and when they asked me if I trust them I told sincerely that now I was not sure. They said "See, you even don't trust us. How can you work here if you don't trust us? " I was really shocked. If you were in my place would you trust them?

I really like Dr. Young, I miss Dr. Billy Graham, he's close to Billy Graham to me, I miss the music that Dr. Billy Graham use to play, when he wanted people to come up and accept Jesus Christ in your heart and get Baptized, it's was so healing and we really need it now
