If you don't have lids for hot items such as coffee due to lack of inventory or whatever human error there may be, please don't sell coffee for the day or attempt to charge for a cup. A simple note: "We apologize we are out of lids. Take at your own risk. " Will be more that sufficient.
Remember that your main objective is customer service, not "let me be rude with a smile" behind the counter. Be smart accommodate! You make your money on the products sold inside, not on gasoline sold.
If someone asks what would happen if I burn myself, first don't interrupt and do NOT answer: " I have you on audio or you are just being you or you would burn yourself on purpose. " (Not looking for a quick buck "hun. ")
Yes! The proper and first answer should be and it was: "I can refund you the money and throw away the product if you'd like" and not leave it as a last resource because you got angry and wanted to be right.
