Shi Lee's Barbecue & Soul Food Cafe, Amarillo TX

I will just start by saying that we did not eat here. Yes, the food may taste delicious for all we know. THAT is the reason I am not putting only one star. We were coming for some local bbq and before having the chance to get in, I saw the kitchen through the open door in the back. Whether it's the kitchen or storage, it was frightening. I feel like I got food poisoning just from looking at it. Sorry guys. Clean it up so it can pass a basic health inspection and we'll consider it.

Eating here is like going to Mom's house and you patiently wait while she prepares a wonderful meal just for you. It's delicious and the staff are great!

My first time there. Food is absolutely amazing. Staff is super cool. Treat them like family and they will treat you the same. I think I just found a regular spot.

Great service. Owner was great! Food was next level delicious. Probably the best mac and cheese ice ever had in my life.

Tremaine and the staff were wonderful. Made suggestions on what we should eat and they were right on point. Excellent fried pickles!

The food is always good! They have everything from burgers to barbecue to neck bones and oxtails. All the sides are delicious too! The yams are my favorite!

Just incase your from out of town and for some reason you want to decide to try this place the dining room closes at 5. We been on the road for 5hrs and just wanted to stretch our legs and get a bite to eat. Didn't happen. Carry out only. Thought they would've been alittle more hospitable but again. Didn't happen. I'll gladly take my money elsewhere! Don't recommend at all.

Stopped by on our way through Amarillo and were greeted by Tremaine. Tremaine was the friendliest and most informative host I've had the pleasure of meeting in quite some time and it was the perfect way to start a trip into Texas. The brisket was tender and exquisite and the sides were absolutely fantastic. A friend had the ribs which fell off the bone when he picked them up off of the plate. Definitely stop in if you're anywhere near and are in the mood for some of the best bbq and soul food you've ever had.

Best bbq and fried okra and fried cabbage ever! The service was phenomenal and most friendliest place! Great place to eat!

Great experience, very friendly. Food was smoked. My husband and I had ribs, Turkey leg and chopped brisket, so tasty! We had a group of 12 and everyone was really satisfied with each meal. I definitely reccomend this place.

Me and My Boyfriend went & Ate there today, very delicious we got the fried chicken wing dinner and chicken fried chicken Fresh and right on time. Tremaine was very generous & awesome server! First time trying definitely have to go back SOONNNN!

Loved the Kool aid if your a sweet tooth, food was Great! Loved that the food was smoked and very Flavorful!

Every day I drive by I have to try hard not to turn around when I smell that food. The place is great and the food is amazing with friendly staff.

MS Shi was in today this lady had a love of cooking the collard greens and red beans dirty rice are excellent soul food at its finest

This is the only real soul food in town! Love it, love it, love it! Love the owners and staff as much as we do the food, this is a must place at least once a week!

First it is a tiny dining room and is very busy so be prepared to wait, but it is well worth the trouble. You will be treated like family so embrace it. The food is amazing, there were three of us dining and we all had something different everything was very good. The collard greens, mac and cheese, black eye peas, sweet potatoes and okra are all prepared perfectly. The fried catfish, chicken and ribs are also great. Everything is cooked to order not pre prepped. The food is cooked with love and it tastes that way. If we go back I am just getting all of the sides, they were that good.

Traveling through Amarillo and we wanted BBQ. Shi Lee's was open with pretty positive reviews. None of those reviews do justice to how DELICIOUS the food is. This little restaurant off the I40-beaten-path is reason alone to return to Amarillo. Mr. Tremaine Brown, you cook up some of the best food I've ever eaten!

Very first time we went we were not greeted at the door and thought it was self sitting. Once we sat down a guy came out and said it was rude of us to sit ourselves and next time to wait at the door. We ordered and food was great. My dad was upset on how we were approached at the beginning, but enjoyed the food. My dad and I decided to give it another chance, this time we waited at the door and the lady was rude to us when we said we needed a table for two, she just looked at me and told me “two what? ! ” Then the guy proceeded to say we are not serving, we are closing early, like we were suppose to know. I would say that it’s not a problem, but each time we’ve gone in it’s always been nothing, but attitude and rude service. Such a shame.

This family owned little place on the north side is not much to look at on the outside, but has the BEST food and kindest staff of anywhere in Amarillo!
