Shortie's Pizza & Grinders reviews
16You need to try this pizza place. Underrated in Austin, my opinion. It’s a heartier pizza than NY style or Neapolitan, which I tend to prefer. I’ve tried several of their pizzas. I have been pleased with all of them.
We were there recently for a little happy hour-ish get together with some workmates. Pizza is fantastic! The vegetarian pizzas were delish (forager and ganoush). My workmates tell me the shortie's and bbq chicken were good, too. The fennel/arugula salad is also really good - ingredients were very gourmet and frensh! Dressing was really good too! We had cannolis and they were scrumptious! The only thing is that the pizzas do take a while (but we knew that since it says so on the menus). I would say the pizzas are sort of "medium" size, so if you have a group, order a variety of them right away, rather than waiting to order more later.we waited a bit of a long time in between pizzas when we ordered more later (they were busier then).
This place is so great. The pizza is delicious and the Caesar salad was awesome. They have cornhole on the roof too! I had a feeling it would be good, because it’s the same ownership as district kitchen.
This place is excellent quality especially for the price. The roasted fennel salad has a dressing that is unreal and incredibly tasty. I haven’t tried other salads yet because I love this one so much. The pizza is unique and gourmet style. It’s a thick crust on focaccia bread. The ingredients are delicious and I love the crispy crust. The atmosphere inside is laid back and very comfortable, I can always get a table and a good glass of wine.
AMAZING! Great and fun staff, fantastic food, amazing outside area, but most importantly they come to you! You just have to sit down at any open table and they will come to you
We ate here on an early Sunday evening and sat outside. Great weather and patio. The cheesy bread with ranch is amazing. We did 2 build your own pizzas and both were LOADED to the brim with toppings! The kids had fun playing cornhole and we enjoyed our drinks. We are definitely coming back soon. The prices are high but I think it’s worth the quality of food.
Everything tasted like fennel which is fine if you like fennel but I hate it.
The godfather didn't have fennel in it but it tasted like a subway sandwich but with better bread. Not a fan.
The best pizza and cheese bread I’ve had in Austin, and some of the best I’ve ever had overall. Amazing staff and great beer selection too. I’ll definitely be coming back often.
Great food- The Godfather “Italian” is great. Full bar, indoor/ outdoor seating and plenty of parking lot parking.
This pizza joint is amazing. The pizza is some of the best in Austin. 5 star service. Excellent bar service. I highly recommend it
I got roasted vegetables and there was no winter squash, just cauliflower, broccoli, and olives. Pep in yo step pizza which was good, very hot.
Great 'za - crispy edges, chewy dough, lots of cheese. Fig and leaf pizza was amazing
The following is my personal opinion based on my personal experience going here:
Problems with the pizza I ordered
1. The pizza was overpriced for the size we got.it was about 16 or 18 dollars for a (at best) medium sized pizza.
2. The pizza items are not the most traditional. Whole wheat crust, smoked pepperoni, smoked gouda. That was as "Normal" of a pizza as I was able to get. You alienate a very big base of pizza eaters when you try to be too ambitious with your menu. While I respect your other items, It would have been nice if you sold just a regular pepperoni pizza for us as an option.
3. The taste reminded me of Cici's pizza. Which isn't bad, but for the price, one would expect a lot better.
In addition, our waiter was not very attentive with refills, or knowledgable of the menu. He also lacked basic customer service pleasantries.
I will never come back to this place.
Oof, sad, old stale bread, old brown soggy iceberg lettuce, old bacon, too much mayo on my club sandwich. Partner had a “shorties” dip sandwhich that was so greasy, enough to result in an immediate stomach ache. Disappointing, and I’m sad to say it! One positive is that the Greek salad was really good, they add beets which is unusual but totally worked, especially if you’re like me and love a good roasted beet. That said, a $13 salad won’t get me back here. I’ll pass on even trying the pies considering just how depressing our sandwiches were. Booooooo!
Amazing place! Our kids love it here, they always get the forager. Awesome setting for lil kids out back, able to run around and play.
Pizza is amazing.
