Shorty's Place, Hobson TX

I absolutely love this restaurant! This is my favorite sit down restaurant in the area, the staff are always super nice and attentive! Everytime we go we get the fried okra its the best I've had. Sweet tea is always fresh.usually I get the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries! Always great Everytime! Serving size is massive for the price i usually leave with left overs. I recently got put on a strict diet due to health and the grilled chicken salad was perfect im missing my chicken sandwich but the salad was still very good

The food was great but apparently the the patrons are allowed to listen to their own radios while they eat. Had to endure another customer playing music on his phone as loud as it would go while we are. Apparently the staff are used to this because they made no attempt to shut it down. Might give it a try again for the country fried steak.

Chicken fried chicken with gravy and sweet potato fries were delish! Wait staff were friendly and attentive!

Ordered the 16 oz ribeye, it was so good it didn't need any steak sauce. Staff was very courteous and prompt had an overall great time and meal there.

We ate at this place on Monday October 17th, there was a terrible smell of sewer and we moved to the large dining room. I couldn't eat my food due to the smell. Hope this problem is corrected soon as my husband said it has great food. Will have to try it another time and give it a chance

There is nothing special about shorties unless you enjoy frog legs and calf fries. If you have to ask what calf fries ate it is moat likely they are not for you.

The food is homestyle. The portions are reasonable for the price. The food is nothing spectacular. But you get what you order.

One special note: they have a vegetable of the day and if you ask for it they will bring it for the table at no additional cost.

Food is great place is clean and comfortable. But, my Bake potatoe was cold and dry and menu prices outrageous. And I was looking forward to fried chicken gizzards they were out. Ohhh waitresses are super friendly.

We were hesitant to stop by after the bad experience a few months ago, but we decided after a week of hard work out of town and eating sandwiches, we were going to try here one more time. This will be the last time! We should have stuck to our sandwiches! My husband and I shared the calf fries, 22oz sirloin cooked medium, baked potato and corn. I’m not a big steak eater so I’m ate the calf fries and half of the potato. Steaks usually have juice on the plate, this one is as dry, the steak was even dryer! As he was eating the steak, it was literally drying out even more, when cutting, it started to resemble jerky (how it fringes). The corn was served in a small dipping sauce dish, the baked potato was cold enough the butter wouldn’t melt. My husband doesn’t like for me to complain, but when you spend nearly $50 for one plate, one appetizer, and 2 teas and the steak is dryer than a boot, I will complain. I asked the waitress, which we didn’t see after receiving our food, for a to go box so I can take the $30 steak to my dogs because it’s so dry. She smiled and said “aww was it, I’ll let him know”. I don’t know who “him” was because no one ever came to the table so we went to pay. I made a quick trip to the sona, I mean restroom! It was so out in there and the toilets don’t flush! While paying my husband tells the cashier how we read reviews and were not going to stop because they were so bad, but we were hoping for a better experience…all she said was “well good help is hard to find”

NEVER AGAIN! We’ll continue to eat sandwiches!

This place has been around for years and it's been consistent with great food and service I eat here every time I'm in the area.

Worst steak I've ever had. (I left 90% of it) It was a shame as the cut of meat was nice but whoever cooked it ruined it with whatever they seasoned it with. The chicken gizzards and fried okra was good though.

Great lunch menu. We had Chicken strips one day and other had steak fingers which were awesome. Plenty of food you won't leave hungry

The catfish is beyond but the hush puppies are doughy, Chicken fried steak is good and the burgers are satisfying.

Every time we've come here they have forgotten something. Decided to give Shorty's one more try. Checked my bag when I got to my vehicle.they forgot my order of fried mushrooms. Went back in to let them know and the mushrooms weren't even prepared. So they told me that they we going to make them and bring them out to me. They get out to me after about 10 minutes. Unfortunately when we finally got to eat the rest of the food it was cold and soggy. Also it seems we were overcharged by approximately $12 comparing the online menu on the Shorty's Facebook page and our final total. If we were charged correctly please update the online menu.

Service is terrible.i didn’t get my chicken strips until an hour and a half after ordering and was not informed of the long wait at all.worst experience almost starved to death: (

It was really busy they where out of steaks and food but I got a burger w double meat and it was huge had to be a pound of meat, the food was good I liked the Onion rings and the mushrooms and the salad and there ranch was homemade and delicious, my friend got the steak said it was cooked good just needed more seasoning.

The new ownership has changed the fish that's no longer deveined, so it's got that muddy taste. The price of the plates has also gone up tremendous. There are other places in the area that have better tasting food and priced right.

I ordered there filet mignon and shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes their Valentine special my steak was supposed to be medium well it came out bloody and the potatoes were cold sent it back the steak was cooked right but the potatoes were still cold so I just told him take it off the ticket but another waitress came by and said they would make it right and take it off our ticket well they made it all right the potatoes were warm the steak was cold it was the steak from the earlier meal that they were remaking and they did not take it off our ticket

Awesome food and great service. As they say everything is bigger in Texas well so was the servings.
