An objective review

Sienna is a course where you know it had its glory days 10+ years ago, but it’s had years of neglect and maintenance levels have been sub-par at best. The rumors on the course are ownership was sold a few years ago to 2 people who don’t live in Sienna and are just trying to milk the course for profit, rather than reinvest to provide a high quality local course and experience.

Summary review:

Clubhouse - old and outdated

Staff - generally grumpy

Cost - overpriced. Large range balls, $17; green fees $62 - including most afternoons when competitor courses nearby (Quail / Clear Creek) offer 40% lower afternoon rates

Driving range - poor. Totally beat up, mostly hitting off sand or hard dirt

T boxes - average. Many are like concrete, though some are ok

Fairways - average. Some really terrible ones full of cracking, although a few are ok

Bunkers - poor. Most are packed old sand

Greens - average. Some are atrocious full of holes and dead spots. A few are decent

Course layout - good. Lots variety, whoever course architect was did well

Golf carts - poor. Old cracking seats, brakes don’t hold, often need to pump gas peddle to get moving

For many golfers I’ve spoken to in Sienna - we hope it will soon return to its glory days, but for now, we generally only play when time is restricted and are unable to commute to better quality courses.

Nice course. Lots of challenging holes. Layout is great winding through the Sienna neighborhoods. All holes are lined with houses but you'll never get close to them. It's labeled a semi-private club but its open to the public at all times. Greens could use some help.

My friend and i usually golf on the Northside of town (blackhorse, cypress lakes, tour 18 etc etc). We finally told ourselves to get out of our bubble and it was a great decision to go to Sienna Plantation! The course is challenging, its narrow, then its open, then it has blind shots, hazards, and big greens that you have to read well. The grounds keepers have done really well maintaining the place. The staff was friendly and the club house was clean. We are weekend golfers and we played from the blues. We usually shoot about low to mid 80s. The only complaint was navigating the course. They had several stop signs but few directional arrows. They also had sand on the greens but we understood that part is to keep the greens healthy, smooth and firm. That was very manageable to play through. All in all, it was worth every minute of my time! I been to almost every public course in houston this by far is the best! Anything posted bad about this course, someone just had a bad experience with one thing and it snowballed

I really hate to complain but the community of Sienna deserves a much better course than this. I played it previously in the winter and gave it a pass. But it is now summer and it is still so mediocre. I’d kind of understand if it was more reasonably priced, but it isn’t.

Pros:

Challenging layout

Nice pro shop employees

Cons:

Fairway and tee boxes are as hard as a rock

18th hole has so many driving range balls everywhere. (I understand a few, but it’s loaded with them. They should at least put a net.)

Low quality greens

Low quality carts

You can still have fun here but honestly Sienna deserves a well kept respectable course and I’m sorry to say this doesn’t cut it.

Played with a group called The Golf Fellowship. We only played the front 9, but those 9 holes were pretty spectacular. Very interesting layout with a lot of variety. Greens were awesome with lots of slope and different tiers and levels. Great Experience will definitely be coming back

Great course for the price. I play out here pretty regularly as it’s a short drive from Rosharon. The greens are typically in good shape as are the fairways. My only complaint is there isn’t a marshall keeping the slow players in check. We always seem to get stuck behind a slow group that doesn’t have anyone in front of them.

Watch out for Alyssa Lopez she doesn’t keep up to her words and cancels at the last minute. Worst experience with her and this whole place! Beware

On GolfNow it specifically states that there’s a shared cart fee when you make it online purchase and when I try to make it to the golf shop they wanna charge me individual cart fees of $15 plus per cart fee and wheel and I specifically told them that we are not using but one cart. They told me that this is standard with every single person and I’ve never heard of this before. I will not be coming back anytime soon.

We played 2 rounds of 18 here as well as used the driving range. The course was ok. The greens need a lot of work and the cart path needs to be redone. The bar and food are great. What really put me off to this course was apparently the owners wife complained that she saw us driving our golf cart up on the green. The green in question is not even possible to drive a cart up on because of how high it is. So this woman sent her errand boy to come yell at us. First of all we didn't drive the cart on the green. If this lady did see someone do that, it wasn't us. Second the way the guy handled us was completely rude and said this was our first and last warning, like we were his children. For the most part the staff at the course was really nice. But the errand boy and the owners wife need to get the stuff straight.

We just moved into Sienna, where all homeowners are obliged to pay quite exorbitant HOA dues. Even so, the golf course charges significant greens fees to residents. Odd, when most other golf communities offer deep discounts (or no greens fees, whatsoever) to residents. That said, I went to the course, today, to visit for the first time and to learn more about the course.and, the entire facility was closed. Yes.closed, on a Tuesday, in the middle of the summer, with no holiday noted and no explanation on their website. Even Google's listing shows it open until 9pm, tonight.
I found a young gentleman sitting in his car in the car course parking lot. I asked him if he knew why the course was closed. "No sir, they just closed. " Yikes. Is this the sign of things to come? High HOA dues, high greens fees, no mention of a discount on the golf course website for Disabled Veterans (of which I am one), and the course is just closed.on a whim? No notes on their doors, nothing on their website, no messages on their answering machine? Pathetic.

Being from the Great Northwest and reading some of the past reviews— I was amazed of how great this golf course was. The course was challenging and very big. The greens were manicured and maintained. I did not see any sand on the greens as one would have put it. The staff, was very friendly and professional. The rental golf clubs were good to use. The bags had some good golf club brand names. The rentals does not come with tees or balls; you will have to provide your own. I had no issues with the golf cart, it ran smoothly. My group was not able to visit the restaurant so I can’t speak to that. Golfing there can be quite spendy but what GOOD ole golf course isn’t too spendy. I have played some nice courses in my time and playing at Sienna is now in my top ten. I will play there again when I return to visit.

Received a sponsor package, turned out to be a scam since the Pro Shop did not know anything about the company misrepresenting the golf club. The person that answered, seem unbothered about someone misrepresenting the club, did not care if our company was about to be scammed on the club's behalf, somewhat rude to deal with too.

Don't waste your money on this course. The greens are sandy and bumpy and generally in a poor state of repair.
Signage on the golf course is terrible and the cart paths are broken and not maintained. They don't have enough carts to go around and you have to wait for a cart to be returned before you can get one.

The club house also closed before we finished playing, so nowhere to go to the restroom or to have a drink after the game. For the $60 we paid, I would expect a course to be better maintained.

Nice challeging course but in need of some maintainence. Greens in tough shape probably due to Houston's freeze a few weeks ago. Had to quit on 16th hole 4 1/2 hours in due to slow play. Foursome in front of us had their kids along, and were dragging things out forever. A lot of folks who either don't know golf protocol or don't care. Unfortunate. Golf should not be a 5 hour plus expereince

The golf course is a great track. The grill is wonderful. But the pro house, needs some lessons. Get better loaner sets. At least say good morning and thank you before you take my money. Need some class.

Greens are terrible. Course has a nice layout, but $60 is a little steep for the condition of the course. I know it’s winter, but it’s in bad shape right now

It was awesome, pretty course and it has its share of difficult holes as well. Went with 3 other people and finished in just under 4 hours. Good price and a nice bar for drinks. Will definitely be going back.

It would be unfair to say that the course is not challenging; hole #4 is a great short par 4 under 400 yards with an approach to a 360 degree 6 ft+ elevated green:). The course layout definitely can test you especially from the tips and the ratings seem accurate. However, three hours for nine holes is absurd. I gave up after 13 because the group in front of us had three players and we literally waited on every hole including par fives at the Teebox. The Marshall did come out and did absolutely nothing to get things moving sadly. When the game of golf takes this long, it is not good for anyone. I will definitely come back in the spring or summer to finish playing the course as it does provide an enjoyable experience in terms of course content. You need to be aware of the slow play that is currently being allowed though. Greens are rolling well at times close to an 11 in speed and in good shape for the winter months.
