Sleep Inn & Suites West Medical Center, Amarillo TX

$120 is ok for a Friday night. The elevator, pool and hot tub were down and out of service. Had to carry all my luggage 3 flights up the stairs. They do have breakfast which is rare these days. Rooms are nice

People that highly rate this place must not travel much. Very dated, gross, old, door and base board full of scratches. Tons of better options in Amarillo! Disgusting: (Waste of $100!

Terrible hotel! Had to change room 4x to find one that didn’t have a problem. In disrepair & needs updating!

It used to be a good hotel but now it has gone downhill. Mildew smells throughout the hotel. No elevator, toilet didn’t work. Rooms stunk. Furnitures and walls are falling apart. Staff won’t answer the phone. Sorry we won’t be back!

Front desk staff was so great! The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast the next morning wasn't great.

At breakfast no silverware no plates no cream no Forks no toaster for bread
no tea. Room: Only one tissue in the tissue dispenser, loose toilet, one ft hole in rug. We cleaned the mildew off the bathroom vent for them. The pool hot tub and elevator were all broken.

This is the worst place to stay ever. What a nightmare. If I could give it a negative star rating, I would. There was only one luggage cart for the entire hotel, but it could not be used on the 2nd.or 3rd.floors because the elevator was out of order. We went without TV for over two days before they fixed it. Our first breakfast morning started 2 hours late and the police were there to investigate why there was no one here at all running the hotel. The ice machine on our floor was out of order so we had to use the stairs to the other floors to get ice. Every morning they are out of several breakfast items. No juice ever. Even the cheap motels have juice at their continental breakfast. Plain bread with no toaster and no jelly might be okay for our youngest granddaughter, but not for most people. The hot tub and swimming pool were both out of order, but you could drive to another hotel to use theirs. I had to fix our toilet stool seat that was off on one side. Also, they overcharged us for the last day of stay.

My stay here was horrible the room we stayed was full of bed bugs I had bites all over body. I had to go to the local VA and was treated for the bed bugs! The hotel promised to reimburse me but still haven’t received any payment or apologies what so ever.

Several months ago, I gave this place a 5-star review. I don't know what has happened to management since that time but this place has gone into the toilet fast. I can tell you that because we have been staying at this Sleep Inn once a month while traveling back and forth from Texas and Arizona for more than a year. The staff used to be friendly and helpful but I have watched that change over time. On this trip, we arrived to find out the elevator was broken. On the front desk is a sign saying that the pool and the hot tub are out of commission and we would have to go to Holiday Inn if we want to use those amenities. (Pool and hot tub have been non-working for many months!) I get placed on the second floor in one of the rooms furthest from the stairs that we have to use to unload our car because the keycard lock is disabled for the stair entry on the opposite end of the building. I asked for my welcome bag that I get as a Diamond Choice Rewards member. The girl at the front desk looks at me completely confused. Goes to her manager and then starts rummaging around in cabinets. She tells me, we have the stuff but we're out of bags. As I have said before, the rooms are nice and clean as expected but the plug for the tub is pulled out. I guess that's a non-issue if you like showers. Breakfast no longer includes sausage. Whoever is making these powdered scrambled eggs is cooking them to complete rubber and they don't taste as they used to when they started serving breakfast again post-COVID. They have tasted this way the last few visits. On top of that, for this stay, many of the breakfast items were not stocked. There are no bowls to add hot water to make oatmeal. There are no packets of tea in the tea canisters. There were no packets of jellies. When I asked where is the toaster, which is normally right next to the bagels and bread, I am told the toaster is broken and we are waiting for a new one. Really? Amarillo has a Walmart and a Sam's Club but nobody can trot their butt down and get a new toaster and stock the breakfast stuff? I stayed here during COVID restrictions when we had to use the microwave to heat breakfast sausage sandwiches. I honestly preferred those sandwiches to the nasty eggs they served the last several trips. Someone in management ought to sample this horrible breakfast they are serving. Housekeeping was knocking on our door before 9: 00 a.m. To get in and clean. No more complimentary makeup wipes. Ice machine on the second floor is STILL broken for months. Much more annoying now that there's no elevator. I used one of my reward nights on this - 12,000 points for this fiasco. This has been my go-to hotel every month in the past when traveling through Amarillo despite a decline in services and quality. Not planning on staying here again.

Excellent night sleep! Friendly staff and safe parking. Enjoyed stay with our two furry friends! Clean rooms and bedding.

The elevator was acting strange at my check in and I asked to be moved to the 1st floor. My 70+ year old father had just had surgery and we were staying the night so he didn't have to ride 2 hrs in the car and he had a follow up appt the next morning. This morning sure enough an out of order sign was on the elevator and we had to go down 3 flights of stairs. I had to carry all the luggage as he was on a weight restriction and shouldn't have gone down the stairs.

We were looking forward to breakfast before leaving for his appt. The only thing available was stale bagels, waffles with frozen butter and coffee. A food delivery was happening. I was told the breakfast hours were being extended. That did not help us as he had 40 minutes till we had to be at his appt. I was told there was no manager because she worked the evening shift and would not answer a call but would be in at 11pm. I started calling after getting no call and was hung up on SEVEN times before a gentleman answered my call. He then informed me there was no manager as she was on vacation. Apparently the owner was on vacation as well. The pool and hot tub has been out of order for months as well. This was a horrible experience and I will NEVER stay at another Choice Hotel. I could be offered free stays and I'll sleep in my car before staying in another choice hotel. Especially this one (Sleep in Medical Center West).

Most excellent night sleep! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The ratings are true, excellent place to stop for the night or have an extended stay. Room was very clean and dog friendly. Bed was nice and soft, small fridge with microwave, shower pressure was amazing. The comforter on the bed was clean, soft and warm! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This was a great place to stay. Considering the alternatives it was a nice place and they gave me a coupon for a free appetizer next door at Outback which is really nice. Truck parking be kind of a pain but overall I had a great experience here will return When I need to

I spend a lot of nights in motels for work. Usually all motels including Sleep Inn have coffee over night and early in the morning. Was disappointed Sleep Inn Medical Center Amarillo doesn't have coffee before breakfast.

There are far better options.

First, they had a hard time finding our room reservation. Our room had a half working AC. It was blowing cold, but lots of humidity still in the room. The room was really small- barely big enough for two large suitcases. There were boogers stuck to the wall. Also, the beds were not comfortable. It felt like the mattresses were 15 years old.

The 3am fire alarm was an unwelcome surprise. The staff was MIA during the ordeal. Not a peep from them while we were waiting outside and not a peep the next morning about the incident when I checked out.

Lastly, while the location was good, walking outside, you get a blast of manure smells. Not great.
