Smokey Mo's BBQ, San Antonio TX

This place wasn't bad, it was just okay. I had the turkey and sausage. Those were pretty good but the sides were a little bit to bland for me (mac and cheese/green beans) compared to other places I've been too in the south area.

Been going to this place for a couple of years now. They have never disappointed and today was no different. We went today to celebrate my mom's 77th birthday and she got confused and placed the wrong order. They made it right without any questions even though it was her mistake. Thank you Mo's for making my mom feel so special. We'll see you soon.

The Brisket was decent, not very much smoke, but was moist. Chicken was moist and was also decent to good. Chopped meat had way too much sauce for me. Creamed corn was plain and straight out of a can. Cole slaw was decent. Much better BBQ places in town.

I ordered lunch for a physician's office for 20 people, they were able to put together a great package for me that included everything I needed. The food was amazing everybody loved it, I will definitely use this restaurant for my catering needs in the future.

Food was hot and delicious! I called in to ask for a couple extras because I ordered delivery and the gentleman on the other end was super nice and accommodating! Definitely recommended this place because of the quality of food and excellent customer service!

This place was not the greatest, I got the 2 meat meal and got 2 small servings of meat and small sides.the ribs were ok, they tasted off so I only at one, the brisket was cooked well, but had no flavor. You really have to cover it in bbq sauce.the green beans in my opinion were way too garlicky, the potatoes were covered in butter, which I usually like, but once again they were plain.

The best of the best good portions served great tasting food affordable prices so if your dining in or going through drive through get some of that good stuff at Smokey Mo, s keep up the great work guys

Not worth your money. Smokey Mo's no longer weighs out their meat on their plates even thou they tell you it should be 1/3 meat they explained to me things were done differently now.i was given one sausage link and then told basically to deal with it. The manager wouldn't even get on the phone to help come to a resolution. The sausage was dry and cold. You could easily tell it was the sausage stored from the night before. The turkey wraps were also dry. They should really get it together. I would give no stars if I could. Go to the location on Shaenfield if possible.

Not impressed. Usual dry BBQ like most generic BBQ places. I asked for extra toppings on our baked potatoes, was charged, and nothing extra was added. I traveled far, so I wasn't going to drive all the way back for extra toppings on our potatoes. The only thing I enjoyed was the baked potato though. The ribs were hard, almost like they had overcooked them or burned them. Surprisingly, I thought it was affordable, but it's because the portions are small. We basically bought a bunch of boxes and baked potatoes. I'll add pictures later. The service at the window was bad too. I ordered online, a big order. The girl practically shoved the bags through my window. She had this look of annoyance. I asked her to hold the drink carrier while I created a safe area to place it. She almost let go of the drinks before I had a hold of them. I had to tell her "HOLD IT PLEASE! " and then she reacted to hold. This was my first and last order from this place. B&B Smokehouse is the standard for me. I thought they were overpriced, but when you take into account the portion size it's a steal. B&B Smokehouse BBQ is the best and the great service is a bonus!

Best BBQ that I have had since I have been in San Antonio. I was very skeptical at first and have not had any luck with BBQ in the area. If you haven't maybe you should go and try this seasoned, favorable and moist BBQ. Mo's keep doing your thing. I'll be back for sure

Had the the two meat plate. Tried the pork ribs and brisket with green beans and potato salad. Everything was excellent especially the ribs. Great flavor peel off the bone! Definitely a go to regular spot for BBQ in this area.

The staff at Smoky Mo's were so helpful! I was ordering a large family pack for a birthday party and the lady who answered the phone answered all the questions I had and was so friendly. When I got there to pick up, the guy who gave us our order had great customer service and walked us through our whole order to assure us everything was in the box. We ended up adding a few pounds of chicken and they were so quick! I will def be going back!

The brisket was undercooked, ribs tasted horrible, and the BBQ sauce was rancid. The whole of it didn't even taste like actual BBQ with the authentic smoke flavor. And they had no knowledge of how long cook time would be for chicken.

I tried here after visiting Hays BBQ in San Marcos and I wanted to like it, but couldn’t. The two stars is for the employees who were great. Tried three meats and their BBQ is missing that authenticity and BBQ taste. The baked potato was also over cooked and hard to chew.

The place has a strong tradition in Texas BBQ & they know their food well. The meat was done exceedingly well & the sides were good as well. There wasn't any problem in exchanging one of my initial selections for another with such a helpful staff. GREAT FOOD!

I First tried Smokey Mo's about a year and a half ago for my mother's Birthday and it was delicious & very affordable! Everyone Asked me who is this BBQ From? When I Went To Order, The owner himself came out and let my nephew and I Taste The Different Sausages. I Went Back About 3 months ago and delicious but I ordered online today for my mother and I since we Did not BBQ becuaee it's hot hot hot outside and I am highly Disappointed. The quality of service and food has gone down but the price has shot up. I looked at the plate and barley had any sausage and TWO RIBS. I looked at my other plate and small pieces of chicken and two small ribs. I asked how much for one link and she said $9.00 and I Asked How Much For half a link she said $5.00 I said WOW! I LOVE SMOKEY But Bill Millers is cheaper.when I got home, i tasted the Mac and cheese and highly disppointed! I understand everything Has Gone Up due to the pandemic but this is ridiculous! It's time to BBQ our own from here on out instead of spending $40.00 on two plates! Big Fan Now Disappointed.

Decided to give Smokey Mo's a try for dinner take out earlier this week (party of 4 adults). We ordered sliced brisket, turkey breast, slaw, potato salad, and green beans. Brisket was delicious as were the green beans, slaw and spud salad. The turkey breast which I'm looking to add to my fav list was not so hot. Too salty, dry and containing 3.5 slices and what appeared to be about ½lb of left over ends and pieces. We ended up polishing off the brisket though barely touching the turkey. Not cool. Might give it another try but I'll be passing on the turkey. Bill Miller's and Rudy's still rank my top list specially their 'sliced' turkey breast.

I will be leaving San Antonio soon and this place is one of the main reasons I am sad about it. Great food, staff is always friendly, order is always correct, generous portions, and the chocolate cake. 10/10 would recommend.

Pros: Nice atmosphere inside the restaurant, and friendly staff.

Cons: As soon as they called my name to inform me my $7.00 brisket sandwich was prepared, I began walking to the counter in utter disappointment. I could see from afar that the pile of mush lying between a sliced hamburger bun closely resembled dog food.

I’ve been taught not to judge a book by its cover, so I gave this sandwich the benefit of the doubt and began forcibly throwing it down my suck. Little to no surprise, the sandwich tasted exactly as it appeared. It resembled a frozen package of suspicious pre-cooked, manufactured meat that is on sale at your local HEB. It tasted like fake ground up meat, drenched in cheap BBQ sauce, and layered with an entire cup of table salt. I’m confident my dog would have rather eaten a cheap bag of dry WalMart brand dog food.

This restaurant appears to be in a close race with Bill Miller’s BBQ for worst BBQ in Texas award. Another lesson of “You get what you pay for. ” Luckily, I’m pretty good at learning from my mistakes, so I won’t be back.

It wasn't really that great. I threw most of my food away. My husband got the Frito pie and he usually loves Frito pie but he threw it away. I'm sure they have good food, we just didn't enjoy what we got. And I got ribs. They were just mostly fat. But everyone has different tastes so try it for yourself if you haven't. You might like it a lot. The staff were super nice though.
