I was a patient of Dr. SHERRICK for years.
He was very helpful, unfortunately I had to stop seeing him. I won’t go into specifics.
But I’m hoping to be his patient again in the future. He takes time & is very helpful in his advice & expertise. And takes a generalized interest in his patients. As of Jan 4,2024, I’m thrilled to say I am a patient!

Would like to post that my husband and I are patients of Dr Sherrick and really like him. On my husband’s last visit he was charged 184.00 for his visit. Today, I went with my husband to the office to get it straightened out. We spoke with Sandra who was very kind and got the problem solved!

Horrible place husband just got released and talked about drugs in that place nurses not being professional nor the monitors, how patients can hook up in there, how sad, and if don't wish to participate you can just lay there monitors handing out cigarettes husband needed help not a crack house ghetto!

RUN RUN RUN I went to this place and I had very bad feelings. I was correct Dr Garcia was awful she messed up everything at my pharmacy regarding my medications. I also noticed in the lobby all the people were so sad.

They never called me after receiving my referral from my primary care office. A month went by so then I called them and the receptionist assured me that they take Aetna insurance. I left a message for the appointment scheduler and had to wait two more days for a call back only to be told they don’t take my type of Aetna insurance even with a referral. They should have called me and told me that they don’t take my insurance as soon as they received my referral from my PCP instead of making me wait for over a month. If this is any indication of how they run their practice then I’d stay far away. No wonder Texas ranks 50th in mental health care.

DO NOT PUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IN THE CARE OF ANYONE IN THIS OFFICE.

After calling seven offices, I finally found this one that would be able to see me in a month. The intake woman called me to get my info and asked what my diagnosis is. I stated Borderline Personality Disorder. She instantly responded that none of the physicians would see me with this diagnosis. WHAT THE?
I have never felt more discriminated against. I am not a difficult BPD patient. I am extremely high functioning. If they would take the time to meet with me, they would know that.

I WILL BE FILING A COMPLAIN WITH THE TEXAS MEDICAL BOARD!

This is a major problem. Without my meds, I will not be a high functioning member of society. I will not be able to hold down my 40hr a week job. I will not be able to run a household and be in a healthy loving marriage. Without my meds, I cannot exist as the person I am destined to be. Our system is beyond broken. And this office, along with others like it) are a huge part of the problem.

*the only reason I gave one star is bc this would not post otherwise*

For the entire time being a patient here, I have witnessed extremely low tolerance from staff in terms of the people who are at the window (despite being a mental healthcare providing facility?), too much personal conversations between staff ie. Talking about dating lives and patient issues (private?) whilst having their office phones ringing (and in many cases waiting until the last minute to pick them up), having to tell the office manager of the updated medical laws in order to get records rather than her learning it on her own, and more that would turn this review into a full-blown essay. I have been going here as a patient for maybe 4+ years and other psychiatric/medical institutions years before South Texas Behavioral. The doctors themselves are amazing, however, the only thing prompting me to write this 1 star is the front staff & office manager, herself. They are nearly about to get me, and others I have seen with similar situations, in trouble with anything relating to getting records/letters/notes in regards to court cases disability, criminal, or otherwise. They also (severely) need to update the staff's & manager's own education on the law or I foresee a lawsuit on their laps very soon.

Doctors are amazing but the front office staff is absolutely terrible and rude ALL THE TIME. They'll even put you on hold until they close if you call after 4. They're also super disorganized.

Dr. Fox is absolutely amazing. He is very thorough, patient, and he actually listens to you.
