Southland Hardware reviews
15Great neighborhood hardware store, the kind I used to go to with my dad before the big box stores pushed so many out. The kind of place you go to for 1 thing and then somehow leave with 5 other things. They are always well staffed and their people are knowledgeable, helpful and enjoyable. I always try to look here first for what I need. They have “nearly” everything and I need, and I feel good about supporting a local small business anytime I can.
I was just through town from out of state to see friends that live in Houston. We were helping with a home project and needed a few minor supplies and were close to this store. I absolutely love independent small hardware stores like this! Have everything, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They even have a shop cat! You can’t beat places like these, head here before going to the big box stores and you’ll be very pleasantly surprised.
This is the perfect hardware store. Plus all the workers here are nice, knowledgeable and feel like they own the place. If they don't they should.
This place is a terrific place to shop and Nick was of outstanding help. The customer service was exceptional and of course that's what you get when you shop local neighborhood businesses. I'll be back when I need something else.
This was an amazing experience with the employes very helpful and kind, this place has everything you probably would need.
They have EVERYTHING you need, and people who can help you with anything. Please support this amazing local business!
I detect they may be covert racist! Definitely not that friendly if you don’t look like a white person!
An the fat old dude in the back eating yesterday wasn’t much help! He gave me directions instead of getting off his behind to assist me!
Close, convenient and super helpful. Until today last week an associated refused to make me keys. When I came In today I asked if he'd learned how to make keys yet? He took offense and tried to lecture me about being a human being. Okay your overly sensitive and you're a male in the construction industry you are not gonna last bringing your feelings to work. Also I am the customer you are the employee.your job is to ring up customers and product knowledge not refusal and demanding apologies. Had an audit done I spent more there last year that you could hire two new employees that actually gave a cap about their job.
Worst return experience. My husband tried to return a cordless battery operated Black and Decker blower that he bought for my handicapped mother for Christmas. The blower unfortunately did not hold a charge despite our troubleshooting the issue. He went to return it with receipt and box/materials and was told that it was not "their problem and we needed to take it up with Black and Decker". I have never had an experience where I tried to return a defective product to the merchant I purchased it through within their return policy and was rejected in such a rude and unprofessional manner. We try to support the independent little guys over the big box stores like Lowes and Home Depot but sadly we will never go to Southland again. Very disappointed that they would treat a customer like this without any attempt to make the situation right (both from the cashier and manager).
Great hardware store! I was looking for some toilet plumbing, in which Lowe's & Walmart didn't have at that time. They had it and it fit perfectly for my need. The price is reasonable/even cheaper than big chain store. The staff was really helpful. I should have gone here first instead of the big store.
First class customer service, matched with an amazing selection, makes Southland my first choice for a local hardware store
Southland (Do It Best) Hardware on Westheimer is one of my favorite independently owned hardware stores in Houston.
I really like their selection of pocket knives. They have a wide range of products for all the building trades. You can buy 1/4 pound of nails without having to buy a whole one pound box. They sell chain by the foot. There is a sharpening service for saws, knives, garden tools, scissors, etc.
Prices are reasonable. You can walk into the store and find what you need in a few minutes without having to walk a mile. Store associates are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Best place for hardware. Great customer service. Great prices. They are always willing to help me find the right parts. I have been a customer since the 1980's. Love this store.
You know, it’s surprising to find a small town hardware store in the middle of the metropolis that is Houston. These folks were great. I had a small issue that I just couldn’t fix on my own and no fewer than four people added to helping me in my situation. Tim, was the big hero who knew exactly what I needed and proceeded to resolve my issue. Thanks ever so much!
The store has all the essential hardware items you might need. Plumbing, electrical, paint, garden supplies, and about everything else. It’s an old school hardware store that even has a large pocket knife display case with real knives for sale. Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. Highly recommended.
