Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods reviews
27So many choices so little time! Love this place, their commitment to Houston and their “everything” offerings, not just alcohol. The staff is literally the best!
Prices are competitive and much lower than state operated systems. The selection is extensive. Best liquor variety I've seen. Wine and beer availability is enormous. They also have a wonderful selection of gourmet sausages, cheeses, coffees and condiments. Good value for those who aren't into the every day.
Here's a story. I could not have made it thru Covid without this establishment. Weekly I visited, had a hot Catfish Sandwich made by some real Southern Bells. Then wandered around the extensive wine collection. Had a top notch Sommelier for a teacher. And on opposite weeks I treated myself to the Tequila isle. Guys you will never understand how absolutely fortunate we are to have AGAVE! Viva Mexico
Selection is HUGE, employees always politely ask if you need assistance, and they always have a ton of registers open.
As always, everything you can ever want, great German Christmas specialties. Don't leave without a sandwich or soup from the deli.
I was st this location on Christmas Eve yet with all of the hustle and bustle, an employee offered to help me. I was able to find the last minute gift I needed (last one!) and make it out of the store in a reasonable amount of time as they had plenty of registers open.
From my experience, this is the widest variety of brands, types, and flavors in Houston. Prices are better than most, normally short lines at the cashier, and the only time I had difficulty finding a parking space was New Year's Eve. A good selection of associated items - skewers, cheese, bar tools. Worth the trip downtown monthly for special things.
They have everything! And lots of spirit tasting on the weekends. We always find great, new treats to drink and eat. Marvelous place to find food. Pre made or special ingredients for amazing dishes. Caviar, fresh fruits and vegetables, incredible pecan pie- they have you covered. Any kind of cheese. Every craft beer. Lots of fun and tastes!
Fine foods and Spirits. Just like the name says. Always has been a source for this, but the keep getting bigger and better. Discount for cash purchases.
Anything and everything you could ever want. I wandered around after work for an hour just looking at red wines. Snacks, wine, beer and an amazing selection of alcohol, Specs never disappoints!
All the employees are very helpful and polite. Found more than I even went in for, but that's nothing new. The Specs downtown is wonderful! They always seem to monitor the check out lines and you never have to wait in long lines!
This place has a beautifully sketchy vibe only a liquor store in downtown Houston could have. They have a fairly good selection in all categories, especially beer. Just try not to make a lot of eye contact.
The HQ right here in Midtown, Houston! Love the constant variety of beer and liquor coming in. Lots of experts as well. Don't forget to check out their deli, they have some pretty good sandwiches too.
Humongous liquor store. Great craft beer selection. They also have a grocery store attached with specialty foods. AND cold and hot food to order that you can eat there. However you can drink there so if you order food and buy beer you can eat there but not drink your new purchase.
Spec's is generally overwhelming fun. The staff s helpful, there's always more than I can image drinking. The deli is overstocked (although I'd like a bigger variety of salume) and the coffee is worth your attention.
This is a magical place and all should come here. Vodka alone has, like, 5 aisles. They have a billion little single-serving bottles, too, which is a tremendous amount of fun. If you're in Texas, DO NOT MISS.
Not only is the selection impressive, but the staff is incredibly knowledgeable about everything in the store! Good prices; cash gets you a little discount.
About once a year I check out the downtown Specs. Always fun to see their extensive selections. Service and smiles are always in stock.
Best place to shop for the weekend, they've got the wines, the booze, and some great snacks to go with, what else do you need? !:) Defo recommend it!
