St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store & Donation Center reviews
4I have loved this store in the past, but it seem lately the prices are a little high for my budget. Im looking for items for my own personal use, not to resale. Store always clean, merchandise limited.
It's an okay store, has Goodwill vibes minus the merchandise.this location only has clothes that are kind of outdated.decent furniture and prices though.no staff around to help or ask questions to.
Prices are inflated. They resell wholesale items to vendors who are also in the thrift store business both on this side of the border and Mexico. In essence, they operate two businesses: the thrift store and wholesale operations for vendors. They're not hurting for money.
However, when the poor request assistance they do a home visit to determine what they will donate to them. That's invasive and demeaning to do to the poor. Already it's bad enough to have to ask and even beg for help. The church does a poverty check. I think it's more fair and humane to give a voucher. To me this sounds like a 21st century version of las encomiendas.
They have the Pope greet visitors yet do not extend the same generosity he preaches and exhorts Catholics to live out in their daily lives and towards their fellow bretheren.
The clerk had finely made and shining Native artisinal silver jewelry all over her with onyx, professional makeup and hair. I wonder if she got the jewelry from the thrift stores overstock donations or if she bought it elsewhere with her money. She had no qualms about displaying her wealth in front of the poor. I mean, if you scrutinize the poor with a fine tooth comb then we reserve the right to do the same to you.
Not very nice. Made me feel awful because I’d included a food item with expired date. Just throw it out!
I no longer donate there.
