Star of India reviews
18Where do I even start? Stopped in on a Monday night, relaxing atmosphere, our server was a gentleman and probably the best server we’ve ever had! The food was delicious, service was PERFECT & the setting was just what we needed after a crazy Monday. Thank you!
The ambience makes you go in awe while the food taste makes you run away from your seat. We visited as a group of 4 along with 4 kids below 3 yrs for a buffet. The buffet spread is good while nothing liked to my taste. Most of the dishes were blant in taste. There was no ice cream and the none of the deserts were likeable. I would recommend skipping this place unless you wanted to have some wide variety of dishes with compromised taste.
Kids below 3 Yrs were also charged $12.99 ️
Food was disgusting and tasteless, they rewarmed left over rice and didn’t even warm it up that much and the food does not sit well in your stomach. I would avoid eating here.
Oh my gosh you guys! I didn't know if this place would still be there. My first time there was over 15 yrs ago. It's still there! Aaaaand it's still deeeeeliiisshhhuss! Lol. No really, it's delicious. Cute, clean, friendly staff. My demon child (14yr old) loved it! We were so hungry we forgot all about pics. Sorry you guys, you're gonna have to check it out for yourself
Extremely rude. They have the India name in them but I faced aggression from the people who run the restaurant here. They threw spoons on the table and when we complained said that there are other Indian restaurants. Their food was also not very good. So think before you go here, specially if you have Indian roots. They obviously have an agenda.
Horrible restaurant to visit. The food tasted bad, parathas, nan were not cooked properly. The employees were very rude and un professional. No salt was added to none of the dishes that we ordered. I would never ever visit this place again
Not at all a place for Indians. India is famous for spice but Star of india lacks spice. Shrimp is smelly.need to wash it with lemon water and salt before cooking.
All the other curries are creamy, bread (naan) is very thick.
We went for buffet with family. Food was very cold and no taste at all. No one was attending if asked for anything. Very bad experience. I would not recommend to have food here.
I go to this place a lot and always tip well over 20%, sometimes even 30%. I will not be returning after discovering on my bank statement that they helped themselves to an additional $6 tip on top of the tip I gave them for 1 lunch buffet meal. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Food- SOOOO yummy. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE coming to this place! The atmosphere is clean and inviting, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, plus the decor is gorgeous. I came for the buffet and my mom paid so I have zero clue what it cost. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea and was excited to have a fancy cup- and the lemon came without my asking. Our server (s) were considerate and took excellent care of us
Buffet was diverse and well attended- and their food is phenomenal. I've had it via take out/catered and it is exceptional hours later. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. KUDOS! PS I'm gluten free and had a zillion choices. I really appreciated the fresh cantaloupe and mango custard to finish my meal.
Had dinner with my family tonight. A horrible experience at the restaurant. The food were not tasty at all. I never had such a taseless food from indian hotels I visited. From our visit what I understood is that they serve the food to people who have no idea what the Indian food would taste. Horrible service in the hotel.would never recommend this place
We went yesterday for night buffet after hearing good things about this place but our experience was completely opposite. The food was very mediocre and options were very limited. Tha lassi we ordered was sour and gulab jamun was cold. Only few items tasted okay. Not sure if there was recent change in cook or management.
Went for a Saturday buffet lunch and want to spare anyone considering this the disappointment of choosing this spot. True to its name the restaurant scored a single star, and that was because I can't rate any lower.
All the curries tasted the same, and special mention to the 'lamb meatballs' that were just frozen meatballs thrown into a premade sauce. The prawn curry tasted not too different from the chicken Tikka - none of the dishes tasted authentic and I really rue the money spent here.
Take my subtle hint and give Star of India a miss.
Awesome Buffet…
Indian, vegan & vegetarian options.
This place is awesome Really liked the quality. Genuine Indian dishes served fast and casual.
Found this Indian restaurant that offers weekend lunch and dinner buffet, thought we'd give it a try on a Sunday. The place is super busy at 1pm, luckily didn't have to wait for a table.
Really enjoyed all the dishes, the soups were delicious, I love the tomato one in particular and the curry madr with green peas and cheese. I will definitely come back sooner than I expected.
My friends and I wanted to try some Indian cuisine and this place was great! The buffet they offered was perfect when you want to try different plates. The staff was great and refilled our drinks when needed. We went on a Saturday around 1pm and it was not too busy. Everything was fresh and well kept! Thank you for a good experience Star of India!
Visited with friends for lunch buffet.very very bad food quality, every item is cold and blunt taste. This is not a typical Indian restaurant for Indians.suggest not to visit here.
Good place for Indian food in Austin. Not too many items for the buffet. Spice level is low compared to traditional Indian food
